"Mm ... I suppose," Ulrich murmured softly. Of course, he couldn't say anything - he knew the man's secret and had promised not to breathe a word. On the other hand, Aragost was no longer a mystery to him, so he couldn't agree with Donovan entirely.
He was spared the need to say anything further by Elros opening the door.
"Ah, Donovan, Ulrich," the old fighter smiled faintly, his cold blue eyes warming slightly. "Come in."
And he stepped to the side to allow them to enter.

"Thank you," Donovan murmured as he stepped in.
Donovan was not surprised to see Lin sitting on one of the chairs waving back at him happily. The impish little girl gave her Daddy a big grin.
"Hi Daddy!" she giggled, her green eyes sparkling, "Hi Ulrich!"

Ulrich chuckled. "Why am I not surprised?" He waved to Lin. "Hello. Already in your favourite place, I see."
Elros smiled faintly and closed the door behind the two of them. "Yes ... just normal lessons, nothing out of the ordinary here."
He headed over to sit at the table with Lin again. "Make yourselves comfortable," he invited them.

Lin giggled, "Of course."
She looked up as her father came over to take a seat, there was a twinkle in her eyes as she held up her arms.
"Up?" she grinned up at him. Donovan raised a brow, she was having a Kara clingy moment right at this moment, but he obliged her and picked Lin up before taking a seat and settling her on his lap, "And you are also very unpredictable sometimes." "Am I? I thought I was very predictable," Lin looked up at him innocently.
He would have resorted most children were not like Lin, but she probably already knew that.

"Anyways," Ulrich smiled softly, watching Lin and Donovan, "we're just making the rounds, Donovan wanted to check in with as many people as possible before going on his trip tomorrow."
"Ah, I see," Elros nodded in understanding. "I see. Well, not a whole lot has changed here, at least not for myself. You know that Celeborn and I have been going on our own trips, a few times each year ..."

Donovan nodded turning his attention away from Lin and focusing on Elros. Not that Lin minded, she knew it was her Daddy's job so she might as well let him do it.
"Yes, and how have those been going?" he inquired.

"Good," Elros nodded seriously. "Fairly well. We rescued another three dozen children - over time, not all at once - and all of them were successfully returned to their homes. Injuries were minor, for the most part, which is always heartening. There haven't been any more in this area, though, not since the last time you were here - that we know of, at least."

In two years, that was actually very good, and hopefully this would give them more breathing space.
"That's good to hear," Donovan murmured thinking about what he heard, "Has there been any other incidents of slavers being too close to the Ranch?"

"As I said," Elros smiled gently, "not in this area at all that we know of. Of course, there is always the possibility that they might have been here, and that they might have escaped our notice, but Aragost does not know of any, and there have been no tracks, no signs, no sightings, no indication at all that they might have been here."

Donovan nodded, "That is good to know."
As the Ranch grew older, he felt that would be important. He just hoped the other slavers were scared off, but he wasn't holding his breath.
"So besides that, how are things?"
He held Lin's hands, to keep her from trying to see what was in his pockets. She learnt at a young age that he tended to keep interesting things in his long coat.

Elros shrugged one shoulder nonchalantly. "The same," he replied softly. "Kids to save, slavers to dispatch, ranch to guard. I really don't think that very much changes around here, not for me at least."
He was after all "old" and set in his ways. Unless something drastic were to happen, he wouldn't change at all.

It sounded like things had become routine, which wasn't always a bad thing. Donovan could understand that, that was life after settling down.
"I see... I think that would be all, unless there is anything you would like to know."
Lin tried to tilt her head to peek into one of Donovan's inner pockets, which wasn't working. She knew for a fact between her siblings and the Ranch that he kept sugar crystals somewhere in his pocket.
It was a leftover Donovan had developed after he no longer had to bribe Celebor with sugar.

Elros smiled gently and shook his head. "No, there is nothing," he replied softly. "Things are as they ever were, and ever will be."
Routine, indeed.
Ulrich took that as his cue to get ready to leave again, and he rose from where he was sitting and moved to the door, waiting silently for Donovan.

"Alright then," Donovan got up picking up Lin and setting her down on the chair.
He had a feeling he knew what Lin was after, but it was too early in the morning for candy. Besides, there were snacks that she could have later anyhow that would need to be eaten in the next few days anyhow. He paused for a moment before ruffling Lin's hair.
"Later."
With that turned to join Ulrich at the door.
"Bye bye!" Lin waved.

"Bye," Ulrich grinned back at Lin, also waving. Then he left the room, pausing to make sure that Donovan was following. Once they were back out in the hallway, he asked, "Was there anyone else that you wanted to see?"
And he started off back towards the stairs.
