The Sexy Chainsaw God
They would not let you grow it. They want to make money,
and will keep growing it illegal. Not only does it make what is in it questionable, you do not know other factors.

I cannot see them legalizing growing it, just selling it.

Someone needs to look up California law.

The number of plants one can have is defined by county, but the average is about six. One county up North (I forget which one) allows up to 99 plants, unless your doctor specifically reccomends more.

The Sexy Chainsaw God
as for marijuana not causing cancer----

True. It is the smoking it part that does, however.

Actually, the 'study finds no cancer etc' link that was posted was a study that involved those who smoke marijuana. Conducted by Dr. Tashkin, who's been an outspoken advocate of the "pot causes cancer" school, it conclusively showed that smoking marijuana absolutely does not cause cancer -- AND that, if anything, it protects against it.

California Supreme Court has upheld the California Medical Marijuana law (state prop 215). July 19, 2002

"The possession and cultivation of marijuana is no more criminal -- so long as (the law's) conditions are satisfied -- than the possession and acquisition of any prescription drug with a physician's prescription." CA Chief Justice Ronald George.

Cities:
The city of West Hollywood adopted a policy in June 2006 that suggests police make "investigations, citations, arrests, property seizures, and prosecutions for adult marihuana [sic] offenses the lowest law enforcement priority in West Hollywood". See Council Agenda Entry and LA Times Story.

Berkeley passed two city ordinances "BMI I" and "BMI II" that tells police to make marijuana-law enforcement its lowest priority. See Legal Limbo for Pot Users.

Santa Barbara (Prop P, Nov 2006) and Santa Cruz (Measure K) have passed rules making possession of cannabis the lowest enforcement priority for local police. (Thanks sr)

And so half of what I said was proven wrong some time ago.
I guess that makes none of my argument void,
and makes me the fool.'

Your no fool, I wouldn't be too hard on yourself. Its good to ask these kinds of questions. Also to search for all the answers you can find. I think this topic is never really over and should continue.

Anyone have any ideas why it is illegal still, and that the government wants to keep it illegal|? Here in Oregon if a cop finds weed on you, your not arrested or anything, as long as its not a lot (maybe thats because everyone in Oregon smokes or has).

And let's face it... as far as the law is concerned, California is... unusual. There's a damned good reason why the California bar does not have reciprocity with any other state (translation: a California lawyer isn't licensed to practice elsewhere and vice versa), and I'm not just talking about property law! o_O;

Oregon's one of the so-called "green" states, by the way -- that, Hawaii, Arizona, Colorado, Alaska, and a handful of others in which medical marijuana is legal or decriminalized.

As far as the feds are concerned... I don't think anyone knows why it's still illegal, but there's theories. Most of them are along the lines of conspiracy theories, which isn't to say they're wrong, but more that they're hard for the average person to buy into.

Oh no... Legalize it. If it's just decriminalized, than it's still against the law just not enforced.

And all it takes is one cop that dislikes you to find weed on you for you to be a in the slammer.

Damn....we could all move to a small private island, make our own government, and be happy.

I mean as in it is not illegal at all, you can possess it, but they do not sell it.
Like air.

Now that's a workable plan.

But if I want some white widow and all I have is brown buster what then?

I want to have the option to buy pot if I wanted to.

They could have a marijuana shop, like a porn shop.
In the green light district....

I want shops that resemble like liquor stores, only your buying joints, or just the bud to back into your bowls.

That to me is heaven.

Is there really a Green Light District??? I'd find work in no time!

I vote for decriminalization. There's a difference between Decriminalization and Legalization.
