I am almost 90% angainst turning books into movies simply becuase most transfers are terrible jobs. Some come close but still are no match. For example when i watched the harry potter movies(have not seen new one) i was enraged at the extreme number of things left out. I'll admit that in some cases seeing things play out on screen is cool, but i tend to prefer the way i picture it in my head.

crystalsmuse I also get the same feeling of dread. They SLAUGHTERED the Erigon book. Lore of the Rings did okay, but they left out Tom and some other cool stuff. Ella Enchanted made my eyes want to bleed. They didn't follow the true story and spirit of the book at ALL! i agree 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000% with you on eragon, and it was like what the heck is happening. cause they changed when eragon came back from hunting. didnt even put rowans girlfriend in i think. i only saw it once so i woldnt know.

iam not defending books- movies. but you have to look at their side to it too. they have to get the book into a movie that is 200- 1000+ pgs into a movie thats 1hr-3hrs long. i doubt anyone can read them that fast. let alone depict them. but on our side it does ruin them. my church's youth pastor was like oh eragon is the best movie ever. then he read it and said i hate the movie. so i dunno but i guess we have to give them a little break. sweatdrop

It's good when the movie ends up being really good, like 1408 or The Green Mile. But I think that Hollywood should take these book-to-movie adaptations a little more seriously and not just throw stuff together like they're building a make-shift scarecrow or something. Eragon was a decent movie at best, but when I read the book I was astounded by the difference.

Leavaros This thread just can't die, can it? *sigh* -LD No, it can't. There's nothing really about the topic to talk about anyways. We've covered the basics of it, unless someone can figure out how to take the discussion deeper. My boyfriend a HP fan said the newest HP movie was all right. The only thing he didn't like was how the Asian girl didn't dump Harry. The movie had awesome effects and the horse creatures were creepy >.> Random: Has anyone heard about an independent film people making a Zelda movie? It's real. I've seen the stuff for it 3nodding I wonder if there has ever released an official Zelda book series o.o

It depends on the book really...i'm hoping *fingers crossed* that the new golden compass coming out will be as good as the book cause they were brilliant.
They never make the films how i see the books when i'm reading them but i'm not completely against them making them into film...provided they put the money and effort into it!

They changed much more than that. It was like that the movie was completely different than the book. How Eragon was imprisoned, Brom was a completely different character, Murtagh and Eragon were a lot closer, everything that happened with Arya, and so much more I can put in here, but would take me more time than I have at the moment.

The only thing I can say that was good about the movie was how pretty Eragon was. I've never seen a farmboy that fine, I'll tell you right now. -LD

i don't mind it. if i have not read the book. because the movie is never better than the book ever. i mean don't even get me started i watched Eragon when Saphira "died" i cryed. not because she "died" because the movie was so bad i could not stop the tears. i mean it completaly sucked. i think they only kept the vaigest plot and kept the names that is about all.
