Like he had just stated, if he was Windflame Bloodrider and had heard his 'daughter' say those horrid words, he'd be completely hurt. Kalona or no Kalona it was wrong to not love the ones that you brought up as your own or had given life to you. Of course, in Diabetia's situation she was pregnant with children from a stallion that had caused her so much pain....still to not love her children was...un heard of. Perhaps it was his own up-bringing from Hania and Mahiri that made him think this way, but love was just something everyone should hold sacred.
Right?
"...Hania?" The tanned stallion instantly spoke, without thinking of the description first, or even realizing what name he had said. Bairn stopped himself before continueing and thought about it. A lively character. If the physical personality wasn't enough, the lively part was even better. ...Their Father? Was it true that Aruna had the brains (and guts) enough to visit Hania? While Mahiri wasn't that far off from where he had made home and he couldn't visit her? Heck, Bliss probably stopped by more often than her own son did. It hurt to realize that, but if it was the truth then whatever. There was no turning back now. "Oh, I'm sorry I just thought of my Father. I can't imagine why this stallion that the rumor speaks of isn't my Father, but I don't want it to be, in a way..." The stallion trailed off and didn't speak any more on that subject. If it was true, if Aruna had gone to stay with him, it just proved that Bairn was a coward of his own past by not visiting Mahiri...
But then he forced himself to laugh at her next comment. "Ah, a lesser? Of course leave it to a Wind-Kalona to say something not true. And dear, I wasn't speaking literally. Your Father might not eat men, but it's definitely a figure of speech. Calm down, Blackfire." He could tell by the way her eyes glared at him that she was just as upset with this talk as he was. "Same to you. And thanks." Dark brown eyes blinked as he watched her almost literally change herself into Windflame. It was a freaky change, but one that was expected. A girl version of her father was now standing in front of him...
"I...you...I..." Bairn began to stammer like an idiot, not sure if he was catching on correctly. "...Your father wants to kill me? Like actually thinking deep down in that messed up mind of his to kill me? That's why he's worried?" The stallion prayed to the heavens he was wrong, for if he was right then it would only raise his fear for Astia and his children even more. "I...I'm not sure I understand yet this is all very strange. Sorry, Blackfire. Did you come to...warn me?"

She grimaced when she saw that Bairn had finally understood why she was coming out to him. She had been using their earlier conversation as a cover; she had learned a lot of things from her father, this being one of them, and she was sorry she would soon have to use them against him should he lose his sanity... or whatever little of it he had left. She did love her father... but again, she believed she only tolerated him, and likewise with her parent.
Shaking her head, she quirked an eyebrow at Bairn. "At least it's nice to know you're smarter than you act," she commented, slight sarcasm dripping. "Anyway... since you seemed the closest to him (I think), I thought I'd warn you first." She swished her tail, falling back into silence to think about what to do next. Her next step she hadn't thought about just yet, but... well, she'd get to it later once she had figured out where her father was heading within his mind.
He had been very closed up lately, so it was harder than ever to read him. She sighed to herself. "Hm... I can't give you any reason for it, but he won't touch me either because he claims he needs an 'heir'... I have no idea what for, but I guess because he can't use Hinode he'll use me..." She looked to the older, golden brown stallion curiously. "Or maybe he won't touch me because of my mother... I'm not sure." She shrugged as if the news was old (which it was) and sharing it was nothing to her (which it was).

The mare didn't deny her words, nor his. So they...were right? Windflame Bloodrider had actually thought once to kill him? Oh, but what about the talk they had about not all Kalona's being alike? Sure Blackfire had said that he'd only do so in his unstable state of mind, but that's what made it worse. Being around Diabetia only taught the tanned stallion that Kalona's normally had unstable minds. His was just coming at a later date. Was his old friend finally accepting the fact that he was supposed to be a blood thirsty Kalona? Ooh, Dia would love to hear about this, she would. Poor Blackfire and family though. They had to deal with something...someone so horrid.
It pained Bairn to even think that way about Windflame, but if what was said was true, he couldn't think much less. It was about time to go out there and protect his children and his mate. If any of them ran into Windflame and said, 'Hey, I'm the daughter/son of Bairn!' they'd probably get hurt. "Heh..." The old stallion grunted to the mare, not wanting to respond to her own sarcasm used against him. "Thanks."
Now the question was, what were they to do next? Since the mare had so viciously dragged him into something that he had no idea even existed until now-he had to help her. Heck, help himself. But the question seemed unanswered in both of their minds. What could they do? Warn others? Ha! They'd just laugh in their faces, since most Kalona's would attack anyone anyways.
Bairn shot Blackfire a friendly smirk when she spoke up again, not being able to tell if her voice had a hint of sarcasm or not. Was she being serious again? Probably. "Ah, Blackfire it's probably the latter. If he 'loves' your Mother, he wouldn't harm what she didn't want him too." At least, he knew that emotion existed in most others...what about Kalona's? Dia had said once, when she was pregnant that she'd kill the beasts inside her...
...now it was Windflame's turn, right? It almost made him laugh.

She looked down, hating the fact she was lying to Bairn about Windflame caring about her mother. He had recently "broke up" with her and had vanished, so she had hidden a lot of facts that she didn't want Bairn to know. It was odd, though. Bairn here was completely different and yet the same as the one in the stories her father had told her when she was but a filly... he seemed different nowadays. "...I wouldn't worry about your family too much... but since he does know you, and I heard he knows your father and sister, Hania and Aruna, perhaps it's better off I let someone know."
She turned away as she made a move to take off into the skies. "I have to return to my family, before my father comes back. He will want to question me if I'm gone too long." Blackfire had been caged for a long time, and though she wanted to fight for her freedom. Her father becoming unstable was unheard of, and certainly Kalonas normally were insane, but with Windflame, it was just terrifying. And her mother was probably heartbroken, knowing that her mate had left her. Blackfire shook her head, angry. "I don't know. My father is completely different... and the same... with other Kalona's. Most Kalona's would kill their children, but that's usually the mothers."
She paused a moment as she contemplated sharing her knowledge with Bairn. Well, he was smart, and he certainly could take care of himself... and knowing more about Kalonas might help him in the end at least. "Female Kalonas are the ones that are most terrifying. They only bare children for male Kalonas that are worthy--that's why you always hear stories about regular--or "lesser", as Kalonas call us--mares being raped. Because male Kalonas are in want of heirs... and they have, uh, a ferocious need that sometimes cannot be sated." She glanced down again. "Of course, this is only what I know. For all of what my father taught me, these facts might well be fiction."
Blackfire gave Bairn a crooked smile as she glanced at her wings. "My sister is lucky. My father left her alone for the most part, and my mother raised my sister. Of course, my sister is still half-kalona... more so than me. She's... sweet though. You'd have to get past her bad mouth to see her nice side." She paused a moment, and then smiled a big, fake smile. "I'll see you around, Bairn... if I'm still alive yet," she added quietly. "I may well be alive, but only as a living tool..." Voice sounding wistful, she nodded once more to the stallion that was a friend but not a friend, and took off gracefully into the skies, heading to her home... or her doom, whichever way one looks at it.
