Baron von Turkeypants Soy un hombre muy honrado, que me gusta lo mejor Yeah Cirosan, but Harry needed to go to Voldemort thinking he was going to die, and not defend himself. You remember the part where Dumbledore said that was the key part in making Voldemort destroy the seventh Horcrux? It was Harry willingly going to his death and not doing anything about it. Las mujeres no me faltan, ni el dinero ni el amor Again, how was Obi-Wan any different? Or Gandalf, for that matter? It's a stirring thing to see someone bravely facing their own doom knowing that what comes after it is usually beneficial to themselves and the rest of the "good guys". It's something that appeals to the desire in humans to see a hero, which is probably why Jesus is so popular...but really, what made Jesus better than Obi-Wan? At least Obi-Wan did cool s**t like slicing a dude's arm off at the elbow.

Karla Marx There's been stories of death and resurrection since way before Ye Olde Ye Jesusy times. I didn't even think of it when I read it. I was too busy sobbing because Snape died and the book was over. crying One thing that I've found interesting throughout the series is the Snakes = Evil thing. That is a very Christian thing, seeing as how Snakes have been seen as bad ever since the story of Garden of Eden. sad I like snakes. They have soft, silky bellies. Why they gotta be evil? I dunno why, I was laughing my head off at Snape.
Didn't God turn Moses' staff into a snake?

Allright, yeah, maybe Harry Potter is a parallel to Jesus, but you have to remember that J.K. Rowling had to pull out the big guns for the last book, and probably make a last-ditch effort to rope in that hard-to-reach fundie demographic who think Harry Potter is evil.

Soy un hombre muy honrado, que me gusta lo mejor My good friend Daniel said, at another friend's birthday party last week, that JK Rowling doesn't care what you do with the book after you buy it, she's already ******** loaded. So go ahead fundies, buy the book and burn it, you're only making her richer. Las mujeres no me faltan, ni el dinero ni el amor

The notion of a messianic entity is an appealing concept. I just happen to prefer the ones that kick a little a** before going down. razz

Finally finished the book. What a work of art the Harry Potter septilogy's turned out to be.
Also, on the Jesus parallel idea, I completely overlooked it. Hell, I even overlooked it in Dragonball Z, and Goku sacrificed himself/got resurrected some 18 times at least. Maybe because self-sacrifice is one of my favorite aspects of the hero complex that Harry and Goku so perfectly exemplify.

I bought the book the second day it came out and read it in 2 days/
Personally, I didn't make that connection when I first read that part of the book, but I do see what you're saying.
