Zyan nodded her head at Roule's introduction, wondering if she should of at least tried to act more friendly. But she was too irked at the moment to really force any fake warm smile. It annoyed her greatly that she wasn't paired with Ter. Her possesiveness of the snake boy apparant, she she kept tossing him looks as if she thought he would suddenly become Nibal's boyfriend. Which was ridiculous, Ter wasn't interested in guys...so why was she worrying?

She followed Roule as they went and gathered their gear, she had some issues putting on some of the padding. Her extra legs had no such luxery of being protected and thusly, she felt they were rather exposed. But then again she could always use that to her advantage. Why have 1 sword when you could have the possibility of 5? Stretching her legs, she twitched an antenna listening to the teacher lecture. Shuffle? They were learning to shuffle? THe thrust parry sounded more interestin than shuffling.

Waving Hinder to the sidelines the green sighed and moved off. How boring, other than the fact he got to observe more dragons this was going to be a very boring class for him. He wasn't even sure why he was here in the first place. Oh right. To make sure Z was safe. Though he seriously doubted she could get in that much trouble...then again...it was Z....

Z moved back onto the floor, waving Roule over to follow. "You want to try it first?" she asked him, sounding a bit sarcastic and annoyed byt he whole thing. Tut tut, she needed to give a better impression. "I am sure it can't be that difficult.." she said in a lighter tone. No use having her partner scared of her....though she rather liked being intimidating.

Nibal tried not to laugh as Ter giggled softly beside him. The frog boy got the joke (after all, his partner had no legs!) and he focused instead on shuffling his feet like the teacher had said. He'd rather just take big steps... why couldn't they do that? Shuffling wasn't as effective, but that's what the clapping lady said to do.

The boy mixed up his feet a few times, but at least he got the motion down most of the way. Nibal eyed Ter's sword for a moment. They weren't that sharp... if he needed to, he could just take the sword from the boy's hand with his tongue, couldn't he? But his father had signed him up for this class, saying that he needed to learn something called 'melee' and that he'd better listen to the teacher. Sometimes it sucked to have a teacher for a parent...

Kalseru was happy to see Baroness in the class, but hissed softly at the other green when she spotted him. "So we meet again, runt..."

Tyven shot Revon an icy look from her purple eyes, noting his reaction. The snake actually wasn't the type to provoke a fight, but she did have a bad response to those giving her negative attention. A harsh "grin" appeared on her face, revealing sharp, long fangs and as she'd already got her own gear, began to smoothly mimic Madeline's shuffling actions. Obviously, she had more than a little experience.

The preteen had extreme discipline, and continued with the exercise, however, the looks she continued to give Revon let him know that the first chance she got to chomp into him-she would. Which wasn't necessarily the truth, but awful fun anyway. It was her way of dealing with people not liking her, just based on looks. He deserved it, the coward.

((Note: Sorry I have taken so long to reply to this. I was waiting for someone to post, but was told they are busy. So, I'll be trying to pick the class back up! ))

The children were not half bad, in fact, Madeline thought many of them showed great potential. Even Ter, despite not having the greatest build for fencing, was managing to perform the movements. Speaking of matters pertaining to the needs and sensitivity of others, she would have to be careful of how she phrased things. She caught her mistake too late when addressing the class about moving their "feet" front and back, needless to say, she was quite embarrassed.

"Eh-hem," Maddie cleared her throat, wishing to move onto other matters and not dwell on her mistakes, “once you've accomplished the placement of your footing, adding in the upper body is only secondary. When using the Foil, the goal is to hit only between your opponents chest and waist. Neck, head, arms, legs and hands are off limits! ...They also get you no points," she added sourly.

"To hit and score a point, you simply 'thrust' at your opponent. I'm sure many of you have seen movies with sword fights in them, try and time your hits with your foot movements. After a few thrusts, if you still have not succeeded in hitting your partner, you may want to try a 'lunge'. A 'lunge' is really what it sounds to be, extended your front leg--and or body," she glanced over at Ter, " as you point your foil foreword, aiming for your partner--Like such!"

A few seconds later, with some effort, the teacher had managed to thrust her body forward, sticking the end of her blunt weapon into another imaginary enemy. "Again, on your own, try it. After this we will move onto practicing with a partner."

Alright, now this was definately getting interesting the snake thought to himself. Lunging was one thing he could do pretty well given that he had a lot of coils. He shifted his so that he could then practice the movements they were told to try the shuffling part was easily enough just some slithering forward then a lunge, now that was great! He was built for that he thought with a grin, his coils bunched up behind him and he did a forward lunge bringing his sword forward to mimic the motion the teacher had used.

Only problem he saw would be that it would be a bit hard to aim. They were only supposed to hit a specific area and that would take practice to be able to lunge and hit said place. He looked over at his partner then gave a smile, "This isn't actually to bad." He said, deciding that even if the sword wasn't sharp and deadly the class could be fun.

Ok so her partner was more the silent type, she sighed and thusly refocused on the teacher. Thrusting? Her mind automactically went into the gutter. She smirked and attempted not to laugh, barely managing it. She listened with vauge interest. You got no points? Who said you had points in a fight?

It all seemed rather bizarre to her. Okay now to practice 'thrusting'. Even when she thought that she smiled and had to choke back her laugh. At least this class had been funny.

Taking a step she found the weapon in her arm awkward to hold. Why couldn't she just use her extra legs? But she guessed rules were rules and thusly she started to practice.

Nibal worked on moving his feet forward in the silly shuffling movement that the teacher wanted and adding in the lunging attack timed with it. He figured out that timing was key. If he messed up any at all, he was in danger of falling flat on his face. Which he almost did at least twice before he got a bit better at timing his attacks.

Roule blinked before yelping slightly at the various flashes of rapiers around him. He gulped and tried to focus - after all, it was expected he could do this. He was old enough to be handling weapons and he needed to learn how to fight. He watched the mantis girl lunge and hoped she knew what she was doing; Zyanya carried such a ... creepy air.

Gripping the blunt sword after a while of watching, the boy lunged carefully, his shuffling somewhat awkward and unsure. His movements weren't sloppy but they were insecure - Roule often looked around to check if what he was doing was correct. The blond boy cast a look at Madeline before repeating his thrusts and lunges again, unconsiciously quirking a brow as Zyanya giggled next to him.

Is she laughing at me? mused the weasel with a slightly frown, movements becoming smoother as he did them over and over again.

Not good. The girl had continued tossing him looks that made the bird want to crawl into a corner and hide. Though he honestly couldn't do tht, and instead made do with the best form of retreat he could come up with. 'Shuffling' as Madeline had instructed, away from his partner in the whole ordeal. After gaining what he deemed a sufficient space between himself and the girl he'd only managed to rest a moment before Madeline spoke up again. With more bad news of course.

Now they were going to be attacking? The bird flinched mentally, warily casting a look over to his partner as it was mentioned. Someone who'd been giving him death glares was going to be attacking him with a sword? Certainly he was aware that it wasn't sharp enough to penetrate skin, hopefully, but the fact remained. She was going to try and stab him. Or 'thrust' at him as the term was. He didn't like this idea at all, he didn't like the idea of it in general. And yet... he had to do it, she'd said to. He didn't want to upset Madeline, that would be bad.

But which was worse? Upsetting Madeline or...?

Another look to the snake caused a shiver to run up his spine. Well... she couldn't REALLY hurt him with it. Madeline wouldn't have let them get hurt so... so he'd manage. A deep breath as he once more checked that there was a safe amount of space between hima nd his partner for the time being and he shifted to practice thrusting as she'd put it. Taking a quickly step forward and attacking the air a few times, each time seeming to become just a teensy bit more steady. Though it was rather hard to be steady when he was more inclined to bolt from the room or beg Madeline not to make him take part in this anymore.
