animal_princess Nakayru i also have a prayer request, its rather important to me. Last night my parents got in a huge fight. I went crazy, i called up Vent, (amanda) who helped me as much as i suppose i could be. While i was on the phone with her , my mom came in crying sayin that she was leaving and i wasn't allowed to go anywhere so i could stay with my brother. Luckily she stayed here, but things are really going bad in the house. Wow. I can't imagine that. I will definatly pray for you. And what is your name? I"m Laura. And I take it that Vent is Amanda. yes, and my names sarah.

animal_princess Miko-Hime animal_princess Miko-Hime Okay, really, what's wrong with being Catholic? I mean sure, I don't agree on them in a lot of things, but they're still Christians, right? some yes, most no. catholics believe that after you die you go to a place called preagatory(sp) and you have to be 'paid out'. which means that if the people that loved you pay enough money to the church that u will go on to heaven and if not then you go to hell. christians don't believe that. and i'm not treating him as a non-believer. it's just i know that he is believing the wrong stuff and i am trying to help him. but he just keeps trying to change me into a catholic. I'm Catholic and I don't believe in purgatory or indulgences. Indulgences were outlawed a few hundred years ago and are no longer practiced. I also happen to believe that I'm not going to hell because I'm Catholic. The way you get to heaven is by believing in Jesus and submitting to God. I assure you that if a person does that, it doesn't matter if they're Catholic or not, they're going to heaven. If you want to catch your boyfriend in a tight spot concerning purgatory, simply ask him for Bible verses that support it. Also, you shouldn't be offended or upset at all about him trying to turn you into a Catholic, after all, you wish to change him. The best way is to show him evidence or the lack thereof concerning some Catholic beliefs, not by simply telling him what he believes is wrong. he isn't my boyfriend. but somehow i think if he would go out with me i would be able to help him more. but i'm scared to ask him. and not all catholics are going to hell. my one very good friend is catholic and she is a christian also. nick also said that the first church was a catholic church but it wasn't.. it was a baptist (sp) Erm...all Catholics are considered Christians. It's simply a denomination. Also, the Catholic Church was the first organized church. Here is an excerpt from Baptist history: Our best historical evidence says that Baptists came into existence in England in the early seventeenth century. They apparently emerged out of the Puritan-Separatist movement in the Church of England. Some of these earnest people read the Bible in their own language, believed it, and sought to live by it. They formed separate congregations which accepted only believers into their membership, and they baptized converts upon their profession of faith. Their opponents nicknamed them "Baptists," and the name stuck.

Out of opinoin im not sure how to put this so sorry if it comes out wrong. I think somewhere along the way, christianity stretched in so many areas that things changed a lot. think about it, the nazerene's are often in to the church family and support of giving into jesus, catholics have the ritual and the greatness of god that they show. Methodists are great with praising in voice. we're really all based on the same area, and there's gotta be a solid ground. To me a christian is someone who is kind hearted, humble, who is best friends with jesus, so how did we all end up this different. ((pretty soon this wil lbe great for our discussion/debate thread))

Laura; I think just because to people have different beliefs doesnt mean they shouldn't be togther. you two both believe in God and thats what should matter. dont think of it as a bad thing but a good thing to get to know eachother.
sarah; im glad you called last night and I did and will continue to pray. I am always here for you never forget that.
