Kasi was scared. The whole world was hidden from view to her, all because of that stupid dead tree. She looked around, heart pounding in her chest. She's normally whinny, but the smoke had made her throat hurt, she didn't want to make a sound. The heat made her eyes sting, and if she closed her eyes, the burn got worse.
The mare frowned, and laid her head on the ground, unwilling to move, her back facing Copper's direction, eyes looking dully foreward just so she would have to close them and feel that painfull sting. Right now, she probably looked rather odd, twisted to accomodate her injured leg, and to watch a fire flicker and die on a bush, one of the few things the log didn't block.

Copper stopped about ten feet away from her. He recognized her! It was her! He almost jumped with joy, but instead he noticed her painful position and became worried again. He bolted towards her, mud or no mud. Finally he reached her. "Kasi, are you ok? I'm so sorry I didn't mean to--Good Lord what happened to your hoof?" he said in a blurt. The urgency and excitement of the moment had temporarily gotten rid of his funny accent.
He saw her eyes and where she was looking. It seemed she was too close to that log, it was still hot. He could tell from where he was. He stood in front of her, hoping the thing wouldn't roll towards them. He didn't know what else to do except offer help. "Do you need anything?" he asked, once again on the verge of tears.

The mare blinked, hearing the plodding of hooves through mud and lifting her head. She smiled, but didn't open her mouth to talk, her throat stung, and she blinked, rather paifully, holding her breath a bit as if to restrain that terrible smell.
"Ah jumped over a tree. 'n there was a branch. " She managed, though her voice was kind of rhaspy from the smoke, and she wriggled slightly, slipping in the mud a few times before finally managing to get onto her hooves, though only three actually stood, the other was lifted slightly, the tip merely resting on the ground. Kasi shook her head at his offer for help, smiling reasurringly, though her leg hurt becaus eof that awkward landing on a branch.

He slid down closer to her and gave her a sort of hug. He nuzzled her and pressed his cheek against her's. "I thought I'd lost you." was all he said. Then a thought came to him. "We should probably find shelter or somethin'...We needa get 'ya off your feet." he said with several quick nods. The moment before had been intense but comforting. And he thought of it as he struggled to get a hoof out of a pile of mud. He looked around for any possible shelter then looked back at her. The rain was still pouring but he saw in the distance a glimmer of beautiful blue. The color seemed weird though after seeing so much orange and red and black.

By now, the sun had already risen, shimmering over the water and the ashes, but for now, Kasi was just glad to be with Copper again. She pressed her nose against his neck, breathing in his scent, even though he smelled slightly burnt himself.
"Ok. " She said quietly, trying not to strain her throat. It wouldn't be bad for long, but for now-- she really didn't want to talk. So she began to move out of the mud, rather awkwardly with a useless leg.

He stood by her and supported her when it seemed she would slip or fall. Their process was slow but it was working. The rain was reduced to a sprinkle when the clouds parted to reveal the sun. How could the sky be so normal when this area was so black? But as they continued on the mud and blackness began to fade away and he was surprised to see trees and grass again. "Alrighty, maybe we should rest?" he asked and eyed her swolen ankle.

Kasi looke duneasly at the trees. She didn't want to be around tree's right now. But now she was on firmer ground, she could easly hobble-trot to where she wanted to be. "Ok.. But I pick where. " Who was to assure her these wouldn't just light out too?
So she started to trot, injured leg not really stepping onto the ground rather than just touching it for a moment. She shook her wet mane for a moment, forcing out some of the water out of it. Soon her curls would show again, butright now, her mane was rather straight against her neck, annoying and sticky. "Hurry up, slowpoke. " She teased, her throat starting to feel better.

He laughed lightly at her good spirits despite what had happened. He too did not trust the green around them. It seemed that any second it would turn into a raging fire monster. But the air here smelled better so he wasn't sure. He was glad she could talk better. He wondered if water would've helped her if she'd taken a drink. He saw an orange butterfly pass by and he jumped shakily. At first it had looked like a dangerous spark. He sighed and relaxed for a moment then stiffened up and kept walking.

Kasi blinked at the orange butterfly, but continued trotting, untill she stopped for a moment, ears perked. She had seen something. And then she smiled, suddenly launching off, though galloping was extremely awkward, she managed it.
Besdies, she was just happy to see him!
He had seen smoke, and that had got him curious. The stallion was a great, strong and healthy creature, much less flimsy than the mare. But nonetheless, when Pallaton saw said mare, he had a kidn of child-like glee. Save for when he noticed wich way she was comming from, the way her gallop was awkward, and that she was.. with a stallion.
But right now he raced towards her. "Kasi! " He neighed louddly, happly, but with an easy to notice tone of worry. He leaped when she got close, and stopped at about the same moment as Kasi, headbutting her affectionately. "Kasi! Where have you been? " He sighed, shaking his head, then pulling away.
"And what happened to your hoof and-- you smell burnt. " The palomino stallion frowned, folding his ears back in concert.

Copper watched Kasi run off and it was now hard to belive that she was in too much pain. He strode after her and watched as she rejoiced with someone he did not know. He stood quietly in the background, politely waiting for introductions. Copper wondered if this was one of Kasi's brothers or her father. He looked a tiny bit too old to be a brother but it was possible. He hoped whoever it was would approve of him.

"It cuz there was a fire! " Kasi frowned, and nodded. "Me an' Copper were there-- thats Copper by the way -- We woke up early! And and the fire started an' we din' know so it was reallyreally close! Then Copper ran one way but I ran the other and I jumped over a long but I landed on a branch andhurtmyhoofthenfellintothewaterand-- " This would probably be her first paused to breathe. "Nowwe'relookingforaplacetorest. " She nodded smartly, proud of how quickly she'd managed to explain the whole thing.
For the stallion, it was tragngely easy to understand everything Kasi had just said. But wait. Did she say they had woken up early? Didn't that mean they.. God, had they spent te night together?! A brow quirked, but he decided to divert from that right now. "Kasi, where's your brother, Sunflash? " Yes, if Sunflash had been around, he'd feel a lot better; after all, Kasi was his first daughter.
"Sun.. " She bliked, then gasp. "Sun! I forgot bout him! " She started to trot around in circules, peering around. She hadn't seen Sunflash since she met Copper! What if he was in trouble?! He was, afterall, still her little brother.
"Er-- Kasi, calm down. " Pallaton stepped backwards a bit, watching his daughter. "I'm sure he's fine. Auma and Rosie are too, and.. Wherever Lando is, he must be as well. Brego too. " He shook his head. Kasi did this so often! "Now introduce us. "
Kasi stopped, and tilted her head at her dad. Cnfused, she looked at him, then finally remembered Copper. "But I told you! Thats Copper. " She nodded smartly, and sat down, though one front hoof remained suspended.
"And who am I? " Pallaton smirked, quirking a brow and waiting for his daughter to get it.
There was a pause, untill finally, Kasi blinked. "Ooooh. " She gaped, then stood up, hopping between her dad and Copper. "Thats my dad. " She said happly, then hopped back to where she had been before and sat again.
Yes, she had gotten it! Oh, how proud. Pff. Pallaton held back from staring at Copper; he wasn't too fond of the idea of his daughter spending time with a strange stallion. How was he supposed to know what they did?! It was an annoying though; what if he hurt her? Made her upset? Or worse-- go her.. Well, y'know. 'Knocked up'. He trusted Auma and Rosie a bit more with their judging of stallions(Though fortunately, they didn't have any interests so far, so he didn't have to worry) than Kasi, who was very naive and good hearted, easy to take advantage of. So instead, he kept his eyes on Kasi, as she lifted a leg to wriggle her hoof a bit, testing it.

Copper could tell her father did not yet approve of him. He could tell that by the raised eyebrows and other expressions. He nodded with a light smile. "Nice to meet 'ya." he said politely. He really didn't know what else to say. What could he say? First impressions are usually wrong but he wasn't sure about this stallion. He could tell he was somewhat protective of his first daughter. Copper would be the same if he had children.

Kasi smiled, and raised her hoof, the injured one, and wobbled it at her dad, as if it were some sort of amusing thing. It hurt a bit, of course, and for a moment, she winced, but soon she burst out laughing, and flopped onto the ground.
"Okay. " The stallion quirked a brow at his daughter, and shook his head. "Kasi and her oddness. " He snorted, amused. She had always been noisy, even when she had been in the basket Rowanoak stole for them-- if not more so, and swished his tail, looking at Copper as he spoke. "Likewise. " He said, forcing himself to smile, still not entirely sure. Fortunately, Pallaton was a very good faker when he wanted to be-- alot like his daughter -- and his smile was rather convincing.
Well, this was awkward. Fortunately, Kasi soon got onto her three uninjured hooves.
"Dadadad! Y'know anyplace to rest? " She flicked her tail, smiling and hopping around in a circle a bit, testing her hoof and trying to keep herself distracted. "Me an' Copper were looking. Cuz we're tired cuz of the fire. And muddy. " She nodded, lifting her injured hoof, which also happened to be the one that was striped, and that wasn't dark brown. Surely he hadn't realised she now had four black hooves!

Copper was unsure of this stallion. He was usually good at figuring out if someone was faking or not but Palla was difficult. He was glad Kasi was there, her bouncy attitude was comforting. Copper didn't know if he should talk or not. "So...Do 'ya live 'round these parts?" he asked kindly. He wanted to be friends with her father. Not pretend buddies. Of course that would probably not happen anytime soon. So he decided to be simple for the moment.

"Nope. " He shook his head. "We live-- " He paused, and shot Copper an apologetic look. Its not that he'd generally mind telling someone where he lived, but Rowanoak had picked quite a hidden place, and he knew she didn't want anyone knowing where it was. "Sorry. " He smiled weakly. "Ro probably wouldn't want me to say. " He grinned meekly, kind of childlike. He still wasn't sure about Copper,
"Dad. " Kasi prodded her father roughly with her nose. "You didn't answer! And you said it was rude not to answer. " She teased, and when he quirked a brow, she added. "If ya know anywhere! "
"Oooh. " Pallaton blinked, then thought a bit. "Um.. Nope, sorry. " He shrugged, and sat down, flicking an ear. "There are some shady trees, though. " He shrugged. He wasn't sure if he'd feel too happy near trees if he'd just been in a fire.
