She watched him bound off toward the tree and prepare to count. "No peeking" she paused to chime out before Peaches took off in search of a good hiding place.
"Hmm where can I hide, that he won't find me" she murmured looking around her as she trotted along, stopped to look around and resumed once more. The normal tree trunks, ditches, and other places she passed just wouldn't be good enough she noted.
Continuing to trot along the little dapple gray mare noted a fairly sized tree trunk fallen not too far from her. Smiling she peeked inside looking for anyone that lived there. With a nod of approval she crawled inside pulling leaves with her which she pushed in front of where Peaches now was laying. Then she waited for his counting to finally stop and listened for his own hoof beats in his own search. The only thing she hoped was this wasn't a squirrel hiding place like his was.

"Seventeen....eighteen....nineteen....twenty!"
Spinning around, he scanned the nearby area, just in case she had chosen a hiding place that was nearby. When there were no signs of her, he smiled and trotted off into the patch of forest where he had hidden.
"Ready or not! Here I come!"
When he reached the leafy ground of the forest, he slowed to a walk so that he didn't make as much noise. Perhaps if he was quiet enough, he could sneak up on her and scare her a bit. All in fun, of course.
He walked in between trees, inspected hollow tree trunks, prodded mounds of leaves with his foot, but still couldn't find her. Had he finally met his match in hide-and-seek? She had found a really good hiding place! He walked deeper into the small forest, in search of the little grey mare.

Peaches felt stuffy as she crouched in this tree trunk hoping he couldn't find her. A giggle soft and sweet escaped her muzzle when she heard something scratching around the top of the log. Panic hit her as the little gray mare wondered what was lurking above her.
"Uh oh... and I'm stuck a log too.... Shoo go away... shoo" she squeaked listening for Ahote's footsteps, "Oh no he'll find me, Either that or that thing will eat me first. Eep don't eat me" she pleaded burying her head some more.
Hearing his footsteps near her she froze. He was sure to find her too. Just what was up there scratching around anyway? She hid her head and prayed silently he'd walk past.

Ahote continued searching, peeking inside hollowed out trees, nudging piles of brush, but still, he couldn't find her. But he wouldn't give up. Not in a million years!
As he approached an old dead log, he saw something scratching about on top of it. He got closer, and as he approached, the creature scurried away into its own hiding place before he could see what it was. It had probably been digging around for food, or perhaps looking for materials to make its home out of.
He tried to follow after it, his mind now occupied with finding out what it had been. He trotted right past the old log, and looked around for the creature. He saw a flash of what looked like a tail disappear behind a tree, and followed after it, hoping to catch up to it.

She listened holding her breath as he drew closer, her mind racing she was finally caught in her hiding place. But, he went past her chasing after whatever it was that almost gave her away.
Peering out of the sod and leaves she watched him follow after a small yet animal with a bushy tail. Blinking she giggled for she swore without a doubt that darn squirrel (or one of its cousins) was out to ruin their fun game.
She continued to watch him smiling to herself, wondering if he would find her stuffed in this log or not. If it was the latter she'd feel really scared being stuck there. Best not think about it for now. For now, she'd wait and see what would happen. This was a game so she had to stay hidden and out of sight.

Ahote followed the creature around the tree, but when he got to the other side, there was no sign of it at all. He looked around once more, to see if maybe he could spot it, but it was long gone. He sighed and turned around, heading back to where the animal had led him from, and continued to look for Peaches. He was actually pretty surprised that he hadn't found her yet. He was usually pretty quick at finding in this game.
When he reached the rotting log again, he looked at it and smiled. It was just big enough for somebody his size to fit inside. And he had forgotten to look in there when he went to chase the elusive animal. Grinning to himself, he approached it as quietly as he could. Lowering his head, he peeked into the open end, and saw Peaches curled up quite snugly inside the log. He tossed his head back and laughed.
"Hahah!! I knew I'd find you!"
He laughed a bit longer, quite amused at her position. It seemed that she had gone to quite a bit of trouble to find a decent hiding place.
"You look stuck...do you need any help?"

She followed his movement till he paused and became really quiet, which made her worry. Listening very closely she head hoof steps nearing then they were gone. "Where is he?" she mumbled with a twinge of discomfort. Now Peaches pondered just what made her crawl in the log in the first place. It was dank with rotting leaves and oh so cramped around the edges where she was lying. The next thought that came to her mind was the fact of getting out of that nasty thing.
She never heard him creep up on her.
Upon hearing his voice her pretty little blue eyes blinked out at him, little saphire hues twinkling. "Aww yes you did. Umm I'll remember not to hide in a log next time... its not the best place." She sneezed causing the log to jolt a little.
Help. She could get out of the log herself, at least she thought she could. Trying to move a bit she felt a cramp form in her right lower leg. "Uh oh. Umm you're probably gonna laugh at me but, "she bit her lower lip trying to remain calm, "I think I'm stuck."
The thought was terrifying almost, but she wouldn't panic in front of him. This was her own little secret and she was going to hide it quite well.

Ahote didn't laugh, because he could sense that she was a little nervous. Instead, he smiled warmly and lowered himself onto his front knees.
"Its ok. Me and my brothers used to get stuck in places all the time. I got so used to getting my little brothers out of places, that I'm practically an expert now!"
He chuckled a bit as he looked inside the log, getting a sense of how much room was in there. He took a moment to think and then nodded.
"Ok, is there any way you can straighten out your hind legs? If you can do that, then your body will be straight and then you can just slide out. Go ahead and try that!"
He waited, keeping himself on his front knees, waiting to see if his suggestion would work.

((sorry for the wait Nori. I've had family things going on along with the lack of a soquili muse))
She blinked wondering why he didn't laugh that she was in quite the predicament. And just how did she scoot herself in this log anyway, amazing how you do something spontaneously then regret it later.
She couldn't help but laugh at herself though she was more embarrassed than anything.
"Umm I can try" she murmured concentrating on moving slowly. Her front legs were stuck but perhaps the back would respond to her. Sliding her left back leg out slowly she smiled, "Okies now onto the other.." biting her bottom lip she whimpered. Now not only was her front legs cramped but her right back leg as well. What a royal mess this was.
"The right one is all stiff and hurts like my front legs. Am I going to be stuck in here for a long time?"
The thought was terrifying thinking she'd be a main course for whatever was sitting on the log earlier. How stupid she had been for crawling in this thing.
"Any other ideas? I'm sorry I got stuck, now our game has to be postponed. I feel like a squirrel in a tree"
She had to joke about this just a little for it brought a smile to her face thinking about it. She was sure though Ahote could help her, he seemed determined to.

((No worries at all! I understand that all of us have real lives, and that they have priority over Gaia. 3nodding ))
Ahote looked at her, trying to see if there was another way she could get out.
"Well, if you could just stretch out your right leg a little, it will make your body more flat, so that you'd have more room."
He chuckled a bit, still finding kind humour in her situation.
"How on earth did you get yourself in there, anyway? Hmm....maybe if I push from the other end, it'll help you get out."
He stood up and went around to the other end of the log. It wasn't very long, so if he could push her just a little, she should be able to squeeze out without him getting stuck as well.
"Ok, I'm going to push you with my head, ok? See if that'll help"
He bent over again and pushed his head into the log. He tried to position his head so that he didn't seem as if he was doing anything inappropriate, but also so that he would be able to push hard enough. When he found a good spot, he anchored his hind legs and pushed as hard as he could.

The thought, she pondered was irrelevant, for getting in there and getting out was merely different reasons. The one thing that was gnawing at her was the fact she was indeed stuck. She felt like a little piggie in a blanket, wanting to pout and cry for getting in this position. But, instead she was giggling in spite of herself, for how silly it was to be helped out of a log.
So she stretched her little leg little by little, pausing when the pain was worsening, then trying once more.
"Its moving a bit... but I fear not much. I feel so silly right now."
When he mentioned pushing her with his head she blushed and nodded. How else would she get out of this darn thing otherwise. So she closed her eyes and waited for him to nudge her enough to pop out into the outside world.
My how nice it would be to stretch those legs again.
Feeling a weight behind her she tried pulling forward, feeling her legs budge little by little. Feeling excited she began to pull forward even more before she popped out like a little cork. Immediately, going to her feet she trotted around a little and turned to face him.
"Remind me never to do that again," she giggled shaking her little legs and head in an almost dog-like action. She smiled with her eyes twinkling in gratitude that he had at least not let her there. "Thanks for umm helping me to get out."
Now she wondered just where the day, or rather how the game would progress now that each had taken a turn. Whatever the result she had a lot of fun, even though she did get stuck.
That was a memory in itself.

When Ahote felt the resistance end, he pulled his head out of the log and smiled. Moving around the log so that he could see Peaches, he giggled a little.
"There you are! See, it wasn't so bad!"
He giggled again and shook his own head, sending small pieces of bark and wood from the log flying.
"Oh, you don't have to thank me! That's what friends do! I couldn't have just left you there, you know."
He smiled again and looked around. What would they do now? He was sure that after this, she wouldn't really be up to another round of hide-and-seek.
"So, do you want to play again? Or maybe we could go for a walk or something."

Peaches tossed her little head mirthfully still giggling at the adventure she put herself through. Eyes shining bright she watched Ahote with much amusement, for he wasn't picking with her or scolding for such a silly thing her little mind had whispered at the time. He laughed with her, which made the little usdia's heart soar with indefinite admiration for him.
She was about to speak, perhaps vote on another round when the skittering of feet perked her ears to swivel forward. There sitting on the log was two squirrels, both she would swear were seen during the game.
Was it quite possible that these two creatures had something to do with both her and Ahote being found so easily? Had they pointed out the usdias' hiding places? Nah, how was that even possible, still it felt like it. Tilting her head at the larger of the two squirrels she blew outward in a soft puff of breath.
"You were the one on the log weren't you?" she asked with a bright smile, "Why if Ahote wouldn't of found me... I may of been stuck there fore a very.. long.. time."
She turned to look at Ahote with a bright expression still eying the squirrels with a bit of amusement mingled with suspicion.
"I think a walk would be best," she giggled tossing her little mane with a step forward "Seems the squirrels think that too."
She turned to look at the squirrels mirroring themselves watching both intently. A game would have been nice, but maybe when the squirrels weren't around.

Ahote also saw the squirrels and thought that maybe their games had been disturbing the squirrels. Perhaps that's why they had made some trouble for them. They probably hoped to get rid of the two Usdia.
He smiled back at Peaches and nodded.
"Yeah, it looks like they don't appreciate our company too much."
He giggled, watching the squirrels as they seemed to be listening in on their conversation. Turning back to Peaches, he nodded towards the edge of the forest.
"So, let's get out of here, and we can see where we want to walk to."
With that, he moved forward, leading Peaches out of the woods.

She paused just a bit more to gaze into those tiny beady eyes watching them both exit the area they once played within. She swore by the spots upon her very being those mischievous creatures knew exactly what they were doing, as in playing a game.
The way their little heads bobbed with a tiny wiggle accompanied by flicking tails, as if to say ,"Hahaha... Now you need to find another game to play."
Well, that was downright mean thinking about it. Mean little rodents chattering after them to go elsewhere. Oh well...
She teetered after Ahote with a merry little trot tossing her head playfully gazing all around them. Being in the company of someone the size of yourself, well it makes everything else seem normal size. Not only was the towering trees more enjoyable, but even the rocks and stumps lying around were more well placed where they tread.
"Wow...," she chirped flicking her silvery gray tail in a mirthful little swing back and forth, "Ever notice in the company of one your size... how everything doesn't seem so foreboding and scary."
Now since she wasn't the only one... things weren't so bad at all. And maybe, a good game of tag would be nice if the area was nice and spacey... and no squirrels as well.
