Her name wasn't funny! Just as well she couldn't read minds or she would have launched into a miniature rant - granted, it wouldn't have been a particularly coherent rant but it would have been one. Generally, she was a gentle and surprisingly laid back mare but there were just certain times when she would declare certain things to be 'over the line'...Although most would argue that her line was very different from their own!
"Hmmm, I rather like those apples." She motioned towards a particular tree as she coiled her tail lazily round her leg. Upon it, lay a number of luscious green apples as opposed to the red ones a short distance away. They didn't rival the red ones in terms of how vibrant they were but Sparks would always argue that they were juicier and sweeter.
"But I like everything here, never a good idea to be fussy when you travel a lot!" She declared daintily as she sauntered towards one of the trees and knocked one of the apples from her tree using her horn.
"Just remember to avoid the blue, spherical berries...they make you ill."

Akando chuckled lightly and nodded in agreement to her saying. She was right, never a good idea to be picky... about anything. He followed her to her tree and watch her knock off the apples, then looked around to notice a large bush with bright red berries, they almost looked like they were glowing! He stepped towards and took one in his mouth, thoughtfully chewed on it to taste it completely, then swallowed happily. "Delicious!" he mentionned.
Now that he had a quick taste, he HAD to eat some more. He took a step closer to the bush and started nibbling on some more berries. Gosh they were good! The stallion looked over at Sparkles from the corner of his eyes, hoping she was enjoying herself too.

Oh the mare was more than enjoying herself. Already she had knocked down quite a number of apples from above her head and was rather noisily chewing into all of them at once - one bite at a time, one after another. If her cheeks could have bulged (like a hamster) they would have but alas they couldn't. Instead, she just appeared to be chewing somewhat rapidly and seemed to have no sense of etiquette when dining.
Well, not everyone could be perfect at everything!
However, as she caught him glancing out of the corners of his eyes she did take a rather large swallow and canted her head to the side. With the little ring of half eaten apples by her feet and her legs a little splayed to reach them on the ground she almost looked comical.
"Apples are better than berries, more filling." SHe pointed out calmly, as though there was absolutely nothing amiss.

Seeing at how she was eating, Akando couldn't up but let out a soft chuckle. He smiled lightly when she looked over at him, but then continued to eat as if nothing happen, as if he wasn't even there. Soon though she mentionned that apples were more filling than berries, which made a lot of sense. The berries were small, sweet and very juicy but he was still hungry after eating almost half the bush. He turned over to the apple tree and stepped closer to bite on an apple that was hanging from a branch. He didn't quite know why, but he disliked having to bend to the ground to eat something, it was better if it was about his height or slightly higher.
"You have a good appetit." He mentioned between a bite. "That's a good thing." he then added with a smile.

"Of course it's a good thing!" Sparks replied, licking at her lips slightly and kicking the apple cores into a pile (she didn't like the seeds) before fixing her gaze on him. Apparently he liked to make things difficult, he looked somewhat strange eating the apple while it remained up there...did he intend to move in a circle to eat it all or would he just devour it whole? So many questions and quite a number of potential answers...
"If I didn't eat this much then I would look terribly gaunt. Gaunt and this pelt colour just don't go together." She announced, her words a clear indication that she appreciated her own form a great deal, "Besides, I travel far too much and its best to keep your energy up instead of collapsing in the middle of nowhere with no signs of feeding grounds or water!"
That being said, sometimes she wished there was a way for her to gather and carry apples with her - last thing she had tried that was unusual was...
"If you're ever thirsty in the desert though, try drinking cactus juice - it's surprisingly refreshing...if you can get round the spikes."

The first apple he had just finished fell to the ground and quickly he bit into another one near by on a branch. Akando chuckled lightly to Sparkles' words. She had so much to say, it was interesting to listen to her. "You traveled a lot? I bet you've seen interesting things in the past." he said in between bites. He nodded his heads a few times, indicating her he was all ears, but then suddenly stopped and blinked. He turned his head over to look at her a curious look on his face.
"Cactus juice?" he said, as if asking the question to himself. "I've never been in the desert, thus I have never tasted cactus juice. What is it like?" he asked, his glance laying over her. If she had seem many things he hadn't, he could surely learn from her. Akando was very much so a curious stallion.

She gave another nod in response to his initial questions. 'A lot' was an understatement and one of these days she half expected to bump into her father again after travelling full circle. As of yet, she hadn't...The world was simply too big a place for that and if she was entirely honest she didn't actually know which way was home. It was somewhat unfortunate, but she had faith.
"Well," returning to the topic at hand, she offered a small smile and nudged the apple cores into a bush out of sight. If anything they would rot and be used as fertiliser but she was unaware of that. Truly, she just wanted the place to look tidy!
"Very sweet," she mused after a few moments of attempting to recall the taste. It had been many months since she had actually been in the desert but she did remember it tasting rather sweet and it cut through thirst like there was no tomorrow, "Very refreshing too but I suppose there has to be some reward for dodging all those spikes, no?" She finished at last.
