Five bottles: Evens=Hit, Odds=Miss

Raising his arm and wincing once as the scratched skin stretched and broke, Eiry didn't have to wait for a cue from Rivener. As soon as he dove, Eiry aimed as best he could for the clearest shot of Edgar ...

...And threw the bottle with all his little brother might!

The bottle landed square in the center of Edgar's back, drawing a bone-chilling wail of pain from the ghost. He curled up and tried to reach back with his fingers as though to rake away the pain. He turned hateful, cold eyes to the sky and spotted the Raevans.

A small ball of light took his opportunity to blast itself into the side of Edgar's face, knocking over and off Percy, who struggled to his feet.

Rivener flew up and around, coming back for another pass, making sure to stay out of Edgar's reach. A victorious smile was lighting his battle-hungry face. They'd done it! They'd hurt him! If Riv had his way he would attack until the holy water eroded the ghost into nothing!

"Thanks, lad," Percy grumbled as he staggered to his feet and gained his bearings. Beckoning the little light over to him, he stepped out of the way of the flying holy water bottles. Best not get caught in the blast, he thought, holy water stings no matter if you're a good ghost or not.

With a hellish shriek, Edgar turned to face the raevans full on. He boasted his chest at them and slowly began to rise.

Another! Another! He had to throw another! Edgar was rising, he was mad! Readying his throw, Eiry let his arm fling and let his fingers uncurl from the next bottle.

Edgar deflty dodged this next bottle, as he gained momentum in mid-air. He grinned malevolently at the two Raevans. "I'll kill you both!" he threatened, as a small cloud of hissing ghost stuff still rose from his wounded back.

Rivener frowned. Oh, this wasn't good! Since when could Edgar fly?

"Dammit," he swore. They only had one chance now, and he had to grab it quickly! Letting go of one arm around Eiry, hoping the little one would think to grab around his neck and hold on, Riv snatched one of the holy water bottles from Eiry's lap. He turned to face Edgar, and crushed the bottle in his hands, a few shards of glass cutting his palm, his hand covered in holy water.

"I'm going to attack, Eiry! Try to get his face with the holy water while we're in close contact, okay?"

Without waiting for an answer, Riv hurled himself and his brother at the incoming ghost, wet claws slashing at the ghosts's hands and arms as they were outstretched to reach them.

Laughing loudly, a laugh that could make the strongest men cringe, Edgar's form wisped in and around Rivener's attack like smoke. The claws meant for death simply went through him as if he were nothing but a dream. No ... No, not a dream, a nightmare! Reaching out as the raevans passed through his wispy form, he managed to snake his arm underneath Rivener's outstretched hand and curl his fingers around Eiry's minty hair. With a yank, he managed to pull Eiry out of Rivener's arm since Eiry hadn't gotten the chance to wrap his arms around Rivener's neck.

With a surprised yelp, Eiry felt his head jerked back and his body pulled from the warmth of his brother's. Already he had a bottle in his hand and he tried his best to slam it into Edgar's face while being pulled into a dangerous embrace.

Rivener growled animalistically as his slash hit nothing but air. It wasn't working!

A cold dread filled his stomach as he felt Eiry being torn from him. Faster than he could even think, Riv turned and latched both of his arms around Eiry's waist, trying to pull him away from the ghost. "GET HIM, EIRY! You can touch him, HIT him!! Punch him, claw his eyes out!" Rivener was roaring what he wished he could do, but instead he had to try and get his innocent little brother to do it!

Edgar had knocked the bottle out of Eiry's hand as it came close, and the vial dropped to the ground, landing on a patch of soft grass and staying remarkably intact. The little ball of light zoomed away from Percy's side and whizzed around the bottle, trying to lift it up... it was too heavy for him! He zipped back to Percy, and tried to communicate that he should come and get the vial, so they could throw it at Edgar!

That's right! He could touch him! But... Fighting? Wasn't that... Bad? Well, this guy was bad, and if he was going to try and hurt him and his brother, then Eiry wouldn't stand for it! Listening to his brother and automatically executing everything his brother told him to do, Eiry fought. Swinging his fist into Edgar's face, the minty ghost raevan felt his knuckles collide into Edgar's cheek bone. The man's head snapped back and his grip loosened on Eiry's hair. Then, with his other free hand he took the last bottle and tried once more to slam it into Edgar's face.

Percy, at first, didn't understand, but when he saw the holy water on the ground, he nodded at Fletcher. With a pump of his ghostly legs, the delivery boy raced to the holy water, picked the cold glass up in his hands and aimed at the battle in the air. Biting his non-existent lip, Percy winded his arm back and let the bottle fly.

Rivener cheered at the succesful hit. He pulled Eiry out of reach of Edgar just as the ghostly Frei managed to slam the vial into the malevolent spirit's face, finally causing very intense damage. "Nice going, Eiry!"

Edgar had been startled by the punch to his face, which felt more solid than any hit he'd received from that damned Percy... Just as he recovered from the strike, snarling at the green Raevan, he was met with an explosion of pain! The holy water burned his face, ate into his non-existant flesh, hurting like hell!! SCreaming, he reeled backwards and clawed at his face...

And suddenly there was another explosion of pain on his stomach! Another bottle had landed on him, and burned away his clothes... He couldn't take it! With a wail of agony, Edgar dissapeared in a cloud of mist.

Rivener flew to the ground and dropped Eiry carefully. He grinned at his brother and mussed up the other's hair. "Well done, a good hit! Next time, don't be a victim; fight back right away, ok?" Riv gazed seriously in the other's eyes and nodded at his own advice. "Now, we should go in and treat all these wounds..." He looked at his own glass-cut hand, remembering the last time his hands were cut... And Eiry's arm was bleeding too...

Percy nodded to himself when the vial stuck hard and their nemesis disappeared within a diffusing plume of smoke. He smiled at Fletcher, the little ghost light, and then walked back to his place at the porch. He trusted the fleshlings would be alright from now on.

Eiry blinked blearily at Rivener. It all seemed to have happened so fast. What happened? He had crashed the bottle into Edgar's face, he was pulled away by Rivener, Edgar was hit again in the stomach by Percy, and he disappeared. Now they were floating comfortably above the ground and Riv was tussling his hair.

"Don't be victim," Eiry echoed to prove that he was doing his best to listen, "Fight back right away." Then he looked at his arms and his own slightly cut up hand from when he crashed the bottle into Edgar's face. His other hand hurt too from punching Edgar. He wasn't that strong. His wing was still numb, that was good. His scalp hurt a bit, but it was going away. "Brother, when we're d-done with the treating of wounds ... Do you still hate me?"

Rivener blinked, for a moment wondering what Eiry was talking about. It took a while for him to remember the whole reason they'd landed into this mess. He sighed and rolled his eyes. "I never hated you, idiot. When I get mad I might not like you, but it'll wear off. Next time, instead of running off like a dolt, just apologize. And don't play tricks on me, I friggin hate that."

He opened the door to the house and floated over to the first aid kit, which he'd learned to use after the last time the ghost attacked. He took out rubbing alcohol and a pair of tweezers, to remove the shards of glass from both their hands.

"You know, Eiry," Riv asked, "I wish I could have helped against Edgar... I think I know a way I might be able to hurt ghosts who harm us, but I... I'd need your help. Would you like to help me?" He glanced up at his brother.

"But Riv, I like to play tricks. Who am I going to play tricks on if not you? I can't trick-play Isi or Aphi. C-can't trick-play Beau ... Can I play-trick you if I don't use water?" Eiry asked, streaming his questions as they glided away from the backyard battlefield and into the house. He didn't really notice it, but with each second, Eiry floated lower and lower to the ground until his ribbon dragged more than usual. Now his talking sounded as if it were the only thing keeping him focused. He kept on glancing nervously at the windows and twitching away from his brother when Riv tried to reach for him.

"Help you?" he asked, looking up and raising himself up in the air, "Right now? Of course! I'll do anything for my big brother."

Rivener frowned. "Why can't you trick-play anyone else? Play tricks on Aph, he won't care. Isi either, I guess." He sighed in frustration. "I just really don't like being tricked, and it makes me really angry." He reached out and motioned for Eiry to come close. "c'mere, let me get all that glass outta your hand so we can bandage it."

He tilted his head at his brother when he said he'd do anything for his Big Brother. A slow smile spread on his lips. It wasn't a malevolent or sneaky smile as he normally did, it was an honest smile. But still, he had to think how he would accomplish this plan of his.

"Did I ever tell you about the time I almost died, Eiry? And how Lazarus saved my life?" He figured explaining his idea would be better started from the beginning.

"Aphi will care because I'll play-trick with the food he cooks," Eiry answered stubbornly, "Isi will care because Isi gets very angry very much when he gets angry. Ch-Ch-ah!" Eiry made his weird sound of pain as Rivener softly took his hand closer for inspection. He almost tried to jerk his hand away from Rivener out of reflex, but his brother had a much stronger grip and Eiry was already so weak.

"Y-yeah," Eiry said slowly, "That was before I was born, right? I quick-remember."

Rivener Tsked at Eiry's resisting. He muttered something about the pain being necessary as he began pulling small glass bits out of the ghostly flesh. He decided it would be best to drop the whole trick-playing thing... at least for now. Instead he continued with the other storyline.

"Well, yes. Laz saved me by giving me some of his blood to replace all I'd lost... As a side-effect, I had a part of Laz's power for a week." He'd never told anyone this. "And when it wore off, I was left with a new poison, one that's not usual... Nothing else can create it on the planet. It's magical." He smiled, remembering the flames in the darkness when he was pulled back from that fearsome brink...

"So, what I am thinking is that if I can someone get your blood inside me, I might be able to develop another unique poison, probably one that is ghostly in nature, since the one I got from Laz is fiery." He glanced up at his brother, hoping he hadn't scared the crap out of his with this idea.
