"Excuse for not looking where you were going." He leaned his head down to crop at some shrub leaves as he walked. There were some nice plants in this area he hadn't seen while growing up, some of which were quite tasty.
And there was no way he would indulge the filly unless she started showing some manners. Especially not when it came to his lack of flying talent. "Your wings will get stronger," he said without bothering to raise his head.

"Didn't say i needed one. Isn't like i actually bumped into you anyways." She'd only almost done it and that was his fault for not getting out of the way.
"That's has nothing to do with what i asked. I know they will." They'd gotten stronger already but they just weren't strong enough yet. "So please show me."

"Then we have no problem," he replied with a smile, lifting his head to scan the area just in case. Once he had reassured himself that nothing was out to get them, he smiled again. The 'please' had been a nice change of pace. "You didn't really ask me anything, but I'll show you if you want."
He took a deep breath and then broke into a gallop, extending his wings only right before he leaped into the air. Thankfully it was one of his more grateful takeoffs. He stayed in the air only long enough to turn around and fly the distance he had galloped, and touched back down a body-length away from the filly.
Perhaps he would make a better example than her father, since he wasn't very strong and needed a good run at it before he could get himself airborne.

"Papa doesn't have to run that far." She scrunched her nose slightly as she thought. So that meant that even after she was bigger it wouldn't work as well. She'd have to get a lot bigger and a lot stronger before she could fly as good as Papa. Damn the universe.
"Drat .... i didn't want to wait that long. Oh well, means more time to practice." Fluffing herself out she tilted her head and looked at the Stallion again.

Of course he would be compared to every other stallion more blessed with physical strength and stamina... Kal sighed a bit, and resumed walking in the direction he had been going before the little demonstration. He would certainly not be impressing anyone today.
"You only have the wings, you shouldn't have to wait long," he said gently over one shoulder as he walked.

Hopping after him she continued to ask questions. "Why do you say that?" She wasn't about to just let him walk off without answering everything she could think of.
He hadn't even said good-bye which was pretty rude in her eyes. He could at least do that if he was going to leave.

Kal didn't object to being followed, he just didn't want to let her keep him from where he was headed. Maybe she would be pleasant company once she got used to him.
"I'm a crossbreed, I inherited my father's wings without his strength. You look like you will be better at flying than I am." He was more unicorn than wind, and as much as it pained him to admit it, this filly would certainly grow up to out-fly him.

"Papa has a horn too and he flies better than you. Is it cause you're just not as big?" Her sisters didn't have wings though. They both had horns like Papa.
"You should just practice more then maybe you'll get better. That's what i'm doing and i can fly farther than i can jump, which i couldn't do last week."

"That must be it," Kal said, trying to keep the irritability out of his voice. He had practiced as much as any young winged colt eager to get into the sky, but he only improved slowly, and with much effort. Now that he was technically full grown he had come to accept his limitations, even though he didn't like them.

"So if you can't fly well what can you do?" Papa hadn't ever explained to her what Soquili with horns could do so she had no idea what else he could be capable of.
The horns had to be good for something, other than poking each other that is, or why else would they have them?

Finally the young stallion smiled again. "I can heal injuries," he said in a lighter tone, again glancing over at the filly. That was the area he excelled in, having a much better grasp on his healing ability was what he considered the trade-off for his poor flight.

"Oooohh .... so if i tripped and broke my leg you could fix it?" That was a neat trick. Too bad she couldn't do something like that. It would be nice if she could fix people up but she'd just have to live with only being able to fly. That had to have some really good perks somewhere along the lines.

"I could mend it somewhat, so if you stayed off it you could heal without a limp." Kal knew that such things may have been possible for a purebred unicorn, but he could still take pride in the amount he could do with his mixed lineage.
Still, he was prepared for whatever tactless comment the filly could make about him not being able to heal bones completely. This was one area where his confidence was unshakable.

"Huh ... i wonder if my sisters can do that." She'd have to wait until someone cut themselves up on the rocks again and find out. If they could that would be a good thing. If not then she'd just have to make sure she could find someone who could if she ever got hurt.

"They have horns?" Kal asked, glancing up at the sky as he walked. There was still some time before the sun went down and things got dark, so he would have plenty of time to make sure the filly went home first.
