Angathi opened his eyes when Kuval spoke again. "I haven't met many Land-ers. In fact, I always avoided going to Land. Stories were thrown around of a cruel peoples. They take more than they need, and kill our much-needed fish. I had no intention of going there."

"Hmph," he snorted, when hearing that Kuval would stop the games. How kind of him!

"Of course. Some Kelpi live in different tribe groups along with others - like the Merloks." Angathi shifted his fins as he pondered the last question. "We are free to be alive, I guess. To exist. Your choices, coupled with expriences, shape your life. It may not be the way you want to live, but live you shall." Not to mention, suicide was unthinkable - but wouldn't it be nice to just.... end?

"Those stories seem pretty accurate to me." he said, with an added snort. "They are very into themselves, and do not conduct themselves pleasantly. They also think that they can swim, and it is very funny to watch." He let out another comfortable chuckle, remembering all of the idiots he had seen 'floating'.

"Live it we shall.." Kuval echoed, and rolled his eyes to the sea's floor.

On a humorous level, Kuval brought his face back up and widened his eyes happily. "So, since you were a Knight, did you go save damsels in distress and stuff? Angathi, you were probably a huge ladies man." With a smirk, he winked at the stallion, and giggled to himself what kind of reaction he would see now. "I dunno, from fairy tales I had heard, it seemed Knights always went off to save females. I am jealous, I bet it was a huge number of females to seee..." Again, his face was wicked, but in a playful sense.

Angathi nodded in understanding, "Just as I though... Land-ers are just that... Land-ers." He snorted again, this time in contempt.

"Live!!!!" Angathi whooped in excitement and dove to the sea bed that Kuval had so recently been. In doing so, he scattered many sea creatures. An eel came out to investigate and curled around the stallion's leg playfully.

"Never damsels in distress," the stallion laughed like a young colt enjoying the day. "Actually, the 'ladies' didn't much love us Knights, we were always coming and going and never the guarantee of return. All that romantic stuff is merely as you said: fairy tales!"

Angathi giggled as the eel tickled him. He reared and pounded the ground to dislodge the creature and then chased it as it went to hide in some coral.

((mental roller coaster *faints*))

"What the.." Kuval shifted his weight back as he saw the stallion burst with a different sort of energy. And, he seemed to be full of happiness out of NOWHERE. "Well that stinks for you." Kuval grinned, but watched the stallions strange tactics. "I guess that is understandable though, but sad in a sense. How are Knights supposed to find love, then?"

Kuval was starting to get exhausted from Angathi, and once again he picked his feet up from the ground so that he could bounce back and forth in the water. "My, you really are something it seems, and I thought I was a mess!"

It was a mystery to him, each Kelpi seemed to have their own past and way of life, and no story was better or worse then the other. "Maybe Kelpis are just screwy as a race." He winked at Angathi and blew some bubbles from his nose lazily.

At this point, he really did wonder what kind of emotional response Angathi was going to have. Now it was a game- a completely twisted and unpredictable game. "Why do you live this.. unstably." he pondered, while watching the stallion closely. "I may shift from personalities, but I only do that for show. You seem as though you can't control yourself!" he sighed and lowered his head exhaustedly.

Angathi didn't notice the other stallion's discomfort. He simply played with the eel as he listened to Kuval's questions. "Love? What more does a Knight need to love that their Merlok companion?" He giggled and shook his head as his seaweed ruins flopped around defiantely.

"And that, I guess, I shall take as a compliment my spotted fish-bait!" the stallion swam over, eel still curling around a leg. When Angathi got close to Kuval, the slitherly creature left the blue stallion and went to the red one, and lazily circled his head.

"I live this way, Kuval," Angathi said as he did a lazy circle around Kuval's whole body - mimicking what the eel did to the other stallion's leg, "because there is nothing left for me." The tone in his voice suggested that it was a sad subject, but his playful actions showed that he tried to refuse such upsetting emotions.

"You are hopeless, aren't you?" Kuval gave him a joking expression and shook his head. "You seem to have a one track mind about things, you gotta open up- experience more to life. Its not just about this merlock stuff that you speak of, there are lots of great things out there to find for yourself."

At Angathi's words, Kuval only rolled his eyes but he kept his same smirky expression. "Nothing left for you? Look at you, you sound pathetic! Rather then sit here and dwell in the negative, why don't you go DO something with your life." Though Kuval wasn't a saint himself, he never swam around feeling sorry for himself. "And here I thought you were this super impressive Kelpi~ now I can't even look at you!" Ok, maybe he was getting a little dramatic, but it seemed like the perfect opportunity in his eyes. "What do you honestly do with your time nowadays?" Earlier on, Kuval would have thought that Angathi roamed the seas as a warrior, with a faithful grin and a prideful expression. But now, Kuval saw him in a completely different light. "I guess I am the only one who can talk some sense into you!"

All the light went out of Angathi at Kuval's speech. His words struck closer to home than the koi-kelpi even realized. He stopped his playing, and froze in the water, staring deeply into the younger stud's eyes.

"You do not understand. You have no idea what it is like... to grow up with someone; someone that you loved with your whole heart, your whole life. Mishos and I..." Angathi paused, and a small -healthy- smile played on his muzzle when he thought about the memory. "We were inseperable, destined to become the best Knights ever known. We lived, ate, slept, played; did everything together. We went through training, best duo in our Herd..... Everything was perfect." Here, his smile fell and his broken spirit started to show once again. "But then he died, and left me here. We always said we would grow old together... live happily ever after until our deaths.... but that is never the fate of a Knight. Their lives are short, and one will always leave the other in torture."

The stallion stopped, and simply floated where he was. Only slight motions of his fins and tail kept him in place. Angathi was silent, reliving a time he could no longer return to.

Kuval also kept himself silent, and finally understood what was bothering the stallion so. Keeping his characters locked away somewhere else, Kuval glanced at Angathi with warm eyes and put his fin on Angathis back. "Of course that sounds like that must have been hard, and you are truly strong for being here today. But, would your triumphant partner want to see you in this state of mind?"

Kuval left Angathi's side and watched him carefully. "If Mishos was to come back and see what you have become, what do you think he would say?" It might have been a touchy subject, but Kuval guessed that if anything, Mishos would not want to see his companion in this state of mindset.

"Memories are a great thing you know, even the bad ones. They remind us why we are alive, and give us strength to make ourselves better for the future. We all have terrible memories, but I don't think Mishos would want you only referring to the bad, especially when you both had so much good together." Kuval turned himself away~ since he was flushed at this point, but he figured that the stallion would get angry or something, as he usually did before.

Angathi flinched when Kuval's expresstion was one of concern and warmth - the attitude switch was just too great for him not to react. When the stallion's fin touched his back, he flinched again, as if it was a sharpened harpoon.

"You have no idea," the stallion lifted troubled eyes to Kuval's back. "Mishos would understand; for it it was me that died and he that lived, he would have done the same. It isn't natural for two Knights who were as close as us to not live without the other. It simply isn't supposed to happen."

Angathi was having a hard time. He didn't know what to say to make Kuval understand, nor was he sure he wanted the other stallion to do so. Not only that, but the kelpi was having issues trying to deal the other's sympathy as well. Angathi started to shiver, but it was from indecision and frustration, not anger.

((Hehehe, Kuval the philanthropist! xD Bah, cannot have Angathi be normal too soon wink He'll probably forget it all anyways ninja ))

Kuval stepped away, and put his gaze on something distant and ahead of them. "Your right, I won't understand. I'm not a knight in any way, so I don't understand this 'close bond' you speak of." he sighed, and hated dwelling on his own subjects. "What it really comes down to though, is how well you can grip a situation. When I was thrown out of my home as a child, I had to muster up the courage to live alone. Maybe I was stubborn for awhile, and hated the mere realization that I was alone, but I was able to survive from it."

He still wasn't looking at Angathi, especially since he had dwelled into some personal waters of his own. And, he knew that he and Angathi had completely different stories and pasts. "It just depends on how a person reacts to a situation, and if you wanted, you could change yourself a bit and try to muster up the courage to move on, instead of hating the fate that you are living. You still have a future you know.."

"And.." he paused before letting Angathi react to him, "I hope I am not offending you at all by saying such, but I am just trying to help.." Yeah, him helping was never the best option, but he didn't know what else to do at this point. If Angathi wasn't a Kelpi, Kuval wouldn't be giving him the time of day. But, he was a fellow brother, or at least.. that's how Kuval saw it- but he would never admit it!

Angathi watched Kuval 'pace' about. He really did listen, but some of the things Kuval spoke up started to mesh and mingle with his own past. In his current state of mind, the Kelpi was started to have troubles.

For a moment, he felt that he was Kuval, kicked out his him home, wandering alone and unknown. But then, the time passed, and he was Angathi again. He started to feel... something.... growing between himself and the other stallion. It wasn't as strong as the bond as he had with Mishos, but it seemed to be something else. Maybe kinship or friendship.... he didn't really know.

This stallion may not have been a Knight, but he was still a Kelpi, and by that - at least - he warranted something from Angathi.

After a pause, Angathi took in a deep breath. "Follow me....." he said quietly, "I want to show you something."

Without waiting, the stallion turned in the water and took off.

Kuval only blinked for a second before obeying. Of course he could never admit such, but Angathi was much older and wiser then him, so he basically would do what he asked. Plus, he was completely interested, whether he wanted Angathi to know or not. Everything the stallion did was so weird, whether it was his movements or the way he talked. But, either way, Kuval saw it as an opportunity to get to know Angathi better, and he hurried himself to catch up to his pace.

He swam behind Angathi, as if he was a child in a sense. At this point, he didn't really care about what Angathi thought about him- they seemed to have passed those judgments long ago. Now it was just two Kelpis trying to get to know one another, mixed in with some major personal dilemmas.

Maybe personal dilemmas were a common thing behind the Kelpi race? It was the same with Pakpao, and Kuval was starting to wonder such.

Angathi lead the way. He could feel Kuval was behind him: the other stallion disrupted the water currents. The Knight didn't say anything, and his mannerisms gave off the impression that it was a time for silence.

They swam deep, and somewhat far. Only once did Angathi stop, to allow both of them a time to rest. The entire time, he had a far-away look in his eyes. Even as they rested, he was staring off in the distance, finding something only he could see.

Without another word, the old Knight moved on.

Right when he felt like he couldn't go much further, Angathi reached the place he wanted. It was an entire range of underground mountains. Their ragged peeks stretched to the light peeking in from the waters. It was obvious right away that it was a maze; as Angathi zoomed around the submerged rocks, through corridors, and over others.

Her turned left, went under a ledge, turned right and over another, and then down into a tunnel that was invisible due to the shadowing of the rocks. It was pitch dark, but Angathi lead Kuval, staying close to the younger stallion so he wouldn't stray.

There, a light was bright at the end of a tunnel. They swam to it. When they finally emerged, there was a moment of intense brightness. As their eyes adjusted, it was obvious that they were in a wide under-water cave. Shafts of light poked through holes in the mountain it was a part of. It was more than enough, despite the depth.

Treasures were everywhere. The light glittered off glass, polished shells, gems, and more. A pretty contraption had strange creatures in it.... if one from the surface saw it they'd say it looked suspiciously like a hummingbird; but it was obviously alive as it swam around happily.

In the center of the cavern was a polished double-pronged spear. A necklace of intense color hung from it.

Angathi went straight for it and nuzzled the jewelry; it twinkled in the water as it went back to its resting place.

A blood-red tear fell from Angathi's face and dispursed in the water as the Knight turned to Kuval, "This was Mishos'." He looked to them all, "All of it... it's all that's left of him."

(I am really bad at describing pretty shinies... feel free to think of more if you want? xD )

The entire time that they were moving, Kuval just wondered where the heck they were going!

Angathi was leading him to such a strange place, that Kuval was almost getting exhausted from the trip. But, he noticed when they were close, and had finally reached their destination. Angathi seemed to have tensed up, and he led him into an area of darkness.

For awhile, Kuval was a bit creeped out- this was just the sort of thing he would imagine from the strange stallion, but before he realized it, there was light.

Kuval's eyes trailed back and forth along the detail of colors, and finally he brought them to where Angathi nuzzled. Everything was so beautiful, but a part of him still wondered why Angathi showed him something so precious.

"Its.. beautiful." Was all that could spurt out of Kuvals mouth, and he felt speechless by the mere realization of it all.

Angathi sighed and turned to face Kuval. His tail wrapped protectively around the shaft of the pronged spear. As he spoke, his voice sounded like it was far away. "When I said that Knights didn't own anything... that wasn't entirely true. Because they are so well-appreciated in keeping the people safe, they received many gifts. The Merlocks are the keepers, though, as the Kelpis don't exactly have hands to tend for them. So, these were all Mishos', and he cared for them perfectly."

"When he...." the stallion choked, "... died... I brought them all here, to a place where it could still just be him and me. When I am here, I feel almost.... normal... again."

The Knight's eyes were clear, perhaps clearer than they've ever been. "As you may imagine, I am not completely daft. Things are not the same without him. Do you understand? Do you understand at all? Mishos WAS my life, my entire life. Living without him is living worse than a cripple.... You might as well cut off my limbs, tail, and fins, and put me to the mercy of the currents." Angathi gave a lopsided smile, "I guess, in a sense.... I am at their mercy." He turned away for a moment, pet the spear with his tail.

The pathetic remains of his bridle and harness seemed even worse, for there was a sparkling new one hanging nearby - where it remained untouched.
