Roule nodded; he got it a little... it was still rather confusing but oh well? As far as he knew, Ma didn't have any other kids or adopted any other children. But you never know, she might be hiding someone.
Vince listened to the explanation, tail thumping the rug under the carpet. He got the gist of it, despite not being to understand too much of the english language just yet. If the caretaker got a new child... he'd be angry. The weasel was annoying enough - another child in the small apartment would make him go crazy. After all, he was the expected babysitter.
Cocking his head, Roule picked up another book. "Big family then? I wish I had a brother or sister... being alone is well, lonely." He shrugged, trying to be apathetic and started to flip through the small tome.

Alora had gotten used to her family, and she didn't exactly count it as big. It was just a simple family, with Aunt Lyll, the caretaker and cook, and the other animals about the house. It still felt a bit empty as a family though; one of her sisters had disappeared a while back. And there was nothing much to talk with the babies, they gurgled and would rather be amused with toys. The only thing Alora could do was to read storybooks to them every night, which she took upon herself as a duty.
"It's not really big. There are other families in Gaia that are bigger. Mom said Aunt Dra has many, many kids. About more than ten, twenty? She didn't specify." Alora felt a little sorry for Roule, she knew it wasn't fun being alone sometimes. "Well, at least you've got your dragon."

He shrugged; embarassed. "Yeah... I think Ma was considering getting a new kid but I can't be sure.. I'm not even sure I'd like having a sibling, to be honest. Ma has a lot of friends that have biiig families, so I think it's just her that doesn't want too many kids..." He flipped through another book - one on dragon diets and exercise before throwing it on the table with the growing pile. Vince took a look at the new tome before making a rude grunt.
You think I'm fat? he asked incredulously, although the language came out in gutteral draconic. Roule blinked and then followed his dragon's gaze to the book and grinned.
"You're fine, Vince." he said, trying not to giggle, "I just need to know what you eat."

"But...you know..."Alora looked down at the neat rows of words on the pages, embarrassed. "Sometimes, the adults don't have a choice. They're blackmailed sometimes." Like in her case. Her mother had told her, but she was assured that Melody loved her a lot. Still, that didn't stop the little girl for being guilty.
"They eat mostly meat, don't they? But then again, the teacher said silvers can eat almost anything...so I'm not sure if it applies to the others."

Roule shrugged. "I wouldn't be surprised if my Ma was blackmailed, though she acts like a normal mom, unfortunately. I don't think I ever cared too much because it's her fault that she did stuff that got her blackmailed anyways." He returned to the bookshelf and returned a few books to the shelves, knowing he wouldn't be able to carry all those home. Maybe they wouldn't even fit in Ma's car.
He turned to Alora's other question. "Well they're dragons, I'm guessing meat... Vince doesn't seem to like much stuff though, and I haven't taken a dragon information class yet.. though I really think I should. Ma hasn't signed me up 'cause she's," he paused and made a thin-lipped, angry looking face that was presumed to be what his mother looked like, and continued, "busy."

Alora had never thought that it was the adult's fault that thy were blackmailed. Grudgingly, she admitted to herself that this was true, but mother never said why she was blackmailed. The girl wondered what her mother did, that she had to take her in to shut the techs mouth up.
And there was a class on dragons? Maybe that teacher that showed them her egg would tell her more about her dragon in that class. "Well, my mother's busy too." She sighed. "So..." She paused for a while, then gave a sideway glance to Mereneth. "I was thinking I could try to go there myself."

The weasel blinked. "You can sign yourself up?" He asked, expression changing into one of perplexity.
"Hmm... Then I suppose I could do that myself." He shrugged, wondering if his mother would drop him off at the building to get stuff done. She seemed to be around the house less and less these days - 'homework' and 'course loads' and 'quatum' were words that seemed to pop up a lot.
He thought he was supposed to be the one having homework, but it didn't appear so. Sitting down, Roule started to file his books in terms of which ones were white-specific and the others general dragon information.

Alora blinked and blushed, a shade of crimson passing across her pale cheeks. "I...guess." She didn't quite understand about lessons; why couldn't they go to a normal school. They didn't seem to want them in the first place.
The girl nodded mutedly. Well, the older boy could go by himself; there was no problem in that, but she really didn't want her brother to have to follow her to D-Corp. She could manage there on her own...but it wasn't as if Melody or Mereneth would allow that. Both were quite adamant about her needing company.
(Pretend all the silver information earlier was about brass. xO Ara forgot what egg she assigned to Alora, so she made it a brass)

Roule paused, realizing it might be a bit rude to just start studying while another person was present. He peered up as Vince nudged the book to the side, agreeing with this.
"Hey Alora, how old are you?" The girl was obviously a little bit smaller than him, but still - he was curious. Then again, she was quite thin, like him, and for all he knew, she could be almost as old as he was! Roule figured he might be around the same age as the dove's brother, but he really couldn't tell since they looked so different.
Honestly, he wasn't sure of what else to ask. Initiating conversation was never his forte, though it couldn't be said he wouldn't do it for the sake of gaining a friend, but still. He was never very good at small talk, but at least he was curious about the winged girl in front of him.

"About...Nine." She wasn't exactly sure herself, seeing that they didn't grow in years like her mother did. It was something to do with their DNA, but it was rather hard to guess what age she was supposed to be as she grew bigger and older over the months. She was still quite petite though, and Yourie had always encouraged her to eat more. Mereneth himself wasn't paying attention to the conversation and had walked away to examine the rows of books further.
"And you, Roule?" She asked, a small but sweet smile on her face. She guessed that he was older than her, since he had already gotten his dragon.
