Katsuo watched Razi's short display of either fatigue or content -he couldn't be sure. For whichever reason, the cat was yawning and stretching. Not out of the ordinary at all. However, when Alimet was pulled in, it became slightly odd. He hoped silently that the large dog wouldn't get the same idea that the small cat had and jump onto his lap, too. That could get problematic really fast.

He was relieved when Alimet merely placed his paw on his knee. With the hand that wasn't petting Razi, the teen petted the retriever lightly on the head. Neither he nor the dog seemed to notice Mitsuko's attempts to move the animal away. It didn't work, simply put, and Katsuo continued his simeltaneous petting of Mitsuko's two pets.

"Aw, that's too bad." He shrugged with a sigh. Neither of his hands were free at this point. "I'll have to think about that." He doubted that he would like sitting with Mitsuko -she probably had a lot of friends, and that would instantly make him uncomfortable- he couldn't tell her that. It was a complicated situation. Maybe they would end up sitting together at lunch. They'd just have to see on Katsuo's first day of school, which was drawing ever closer.

Mitsuko didn't seem like Ouran material, but the fact was that she was in Ouran and she did, apparently, belong there. Thinking about it, Katsuo couldn't picture her in any other school, either. "You were lucky that she was around, then." He nodded. "So, you plan on becoming a doctor because you want to? I'm jealous." He admitted to her. His job was already decided for him, even if he didn't want it at all. It was just so boring. "They can't be watching you all the time, it seems." Though I wasn't talking about them... "But you're right, they're probably at least thinking about making sure you don't get hurt." Thought just didn't always work.

The kitten padded towards the large dog as it placed it's paw on Katsuo's knee. Blinking down at him, Razi batted at Alimet's ear once he came in range. With a small snort, Alimet ignored Razi, distracted when he was suddenly patted on the head. Glancing up at the hand that stroked him, he pulled away for a moment to give Katsuo's hand a lick with his wet tounge.

Mitsuko watched silently for a moment, before covering her mouth with both hands, amused. She tried to stifle her giggles, but a few escaped. It was interesting, watching Katsuo pet both of her pets at the same time. They were obviously enjoying the attention to boy was giving them. The moment Alimet licked Katsuo's hand, however, Mitsuko winced, though the grin was still on her face. "Ick, Alimet. Don't do that to people." She said, in the same, 'attempting to scold' voice. Digging into her pocket, she offered Katsuo a handkerchief, before slipping off the bench and sitting down on the ground. Obediently, Alimet padded towards the girl, only to suddenly wash her face with her tounge. "Gah! Alimet!" Mitsuko was both laughing, and squeaking as she attempted to hide her face from her dog. Her parents would kill her if they saw her now.

"Yeah," Mitsuko managed to answer, fending off her dog. "And please do think about it! You're always welcome to join us!" She nodded, before scrambling to get back onto her feet, and get her face out of Alimet's range.

The moment she did, she wiped at her face with a sigh, before giving a little shake of her head. "Mm, not exactly. I want to help people, it's true, and become a doctor, but one of the main reasons I'm so serious on becoming a good one, is because I can't become anything else, whether I like it or not. My parents have decided for me already." Mitsuko sighed, before sitting back down on the edge of the bench. "Those of us who attend Ouran usually don't get to pick our own futures." Another reason she envied common people.

Katsuo smiled as he petted the enormous yellow dog. Mitsuko's pets really were... affectionate? He was far from sure of whether that was the word he as looking for. It sounded right enough, so he went with it. Temporarily preoccupied with his thoughts, he didn't notice Alimet pull away from him until his hand no longer touched any soft fur. It was only a moment after that the it felt something else, however. And that something was really wet.

Though he didn't react as reflexively as he had with Razi, the boy flinged his hand to the sideways and away from Mitsuko in an attempt to rid himself of the saliva that now coated his hand. "It's okay. It doesn't feel good, but it's not like it's that digusting." After all, most dogs did it. As far as he knew, anyway. Still, he accepted the handkerchief that she offered him. It may not have bothered him much, but he didn't want to walk around with dog spit all over his hand for the rest of the day. Beginning to wipe off his hand, Katsuo looked down as Mitsuko left the bench and took to the ground below. When the retriever licked her face, however, he had to stiffle a laugh. "You've got some dog there."

"All right." He accepted without reluctance. While offering to return the handkerchief to her, he stayed silent as she explained. So she was in the same situation he was... But she was taking it different. "It makes sense, I guess." He paused. "No, what am I saying? It just doesn't make sense to me. We should get to choose our futures, not our parents." His state of mind refused to change, even if it did seem slightly logical. "My parents have already chosen my occupation." He made a face. "But I've got my own plans."

Having had his fun taken away from him, Alimet whined, before trotting back to Katsuo and sitting at his feet. Tail wagging, he rose a paw to bat at Razi's ear, earning a meow from the kitten as he squirmed violently to get away from the dog, clinging onto the front of Katsuo's shirt with tiny claws and a planitive mew.

Sighing as she wiped off the rest of the dog slobber from her face, Mitsuko grinned sheepishly at Katsuo. "Some dog indeed. I love Razi and Alimet both, but they also both have rather different personalities, hm?" To be honest, Mitsuko was probably a lot more like Alimet - friendly, bouncy, and always unaware when she was irritating someone.

Taking the handkercheif back, and offering a small grin, she tucked it back into her pocket before letting out a sigh as he spoke. "I know - it doesn't seem fair, does it? To be honest, there's something else I'd like doing as well, but...of course, my parents won't settle for anything else." Then, she offered a small smile to Katsuo. "You too, hm? Well, I've basically already accepted my chosen job, since I like it but..." She paused, with a frown, "I think...if you want to do something, you should be allowed to pursue it. Whether your parents like it or not, if you have a love for something, and you think you'd do a better job at it than whatever your parents chose, you should be allowed to do it." She grinned, giving a little shake of her head, though her voice was quiet, "Sometimes I really do wish I weren't born into a wealthy family."

What would her life have been like then? Full of warmth, and love? Perhaps. Even a little love from her parents would have been more welcome than how her parents currently acted to her.

Katsuo watched even more of the two animals' antics as the pair decided to play together. As Razi's tiny claws dug into his shirt, the teen sighed lightly. "They're complete opposites." He nodded before continuing. "But considering they're a cat and a dog, that makes sense. It's just a good thing that they can get along well."

He happily let go of the handkerchief as she decided to take it back. "It's never fair. You can bet that many of Ouran's students are in th same situation as us." He could, at least. "So, what's this 'something else' you'd like? Promise I won't laugh." He motioned for her to cotinue what she'd been saying before. "I refuse to accept my 'pre-chosen career.' I'm lucky enough to have parents whose jobs are close to what I want to be, but they idea for my job is just not close enough." He looked down at Razi and began to pet the small cat. "That's a good way of thinking. Too bad not everyone thinks that way. If they did, there would be no downside to being born into a rich family."

"If your family was different, then you'd just have different problems, though." Regardless of the family, everyone had some sort of issues.

"I know," Mitsuko said, looking genuinely happy, "I'm really glad the two of them get along. They have their little squabbles once in a while, but friends have little fights all the time, don't they?" Reaching forward, she gently drew the dog back and away from Katsuo and Razi, stratching Alimet behind the ears.

While Alimet sat there, panting happily, Mitsuko nodded her head. "It's true. I haven't spoken about this to many of the other students but..." She was sure, inside, some of them wished they had more freedom than they really did. Then, she shifted awkward, rubbing the back of her head with her free hand. "The 'other thing'? Oh...er...well..." For once, the girl seemed flustered. Finally, sheepishly, she grinned. "Well, I like to sing. It's a favourite hobby of mine, and it always lightened my mood when I was younger..."

Of course, there was that factor that, as the only child of the Takara family, she was to take over the business once she was of age. Mitsuko loved helping others, and the idea of being a doctor - she really did - but she wished that she could have chosen it herself instead of having to had it forced on her at a young age.

"Aw, Katsuo-kun. If you don't me mind asking, what do you wish to be? And what your parents expect you to be?" Razi, as he was pet, purred and nuzzled the boy's hand gently. Mitsuko nodded slowly. "That's true...and though those looking at us from the outside may think that we're all money, and happiness..."

"Yup! Every family has their own problems, don't they? I suppose it could be worse..."

"If I had a dog and a cat in my house, we'd probably have to keep them at separate ends just to keep it from getting completely chaotic." He made an odd, semi-frowning expression at the mere idea of it. "They're a nice match for each other."

Katsuo looked up at her when she mentioned something about not not speaking about a certain subject other students. Come to think of it, he hadn't spoken aloud with it to anyone, either. While she began to stall shortly for time, he refrained from saying anything that might make her feel rushed. That would rpobably end up with her not telling him at all. "You like to sing? That's really interesting, actually. I'm sure that you're pretty good at it, too."

"They want me to take over the business. Since they both work as the highest-ranked members of my father's production company, I'm not only supposed to take my father's job, but... I have to find someone to take my mother's. And if I don't find one, I'm sure they'll be happy to do it for me." He sighed, shaking his head. He really hoped that the situation wouldn't come to something that grave. "I actually... Want to be in the recording room instead of being the one who figures out who's going in." He grinned awkwardly, hoping that she would be able to figure out what he meant. "That sounds like a song itself." He managed to laugh at the thought, although it was serious.

"Of course, it could be better, too. There's a bright side and a dark side to everything."

Stifling a giggle, Mitsuko looked at her two pets fondly. "I'm just happy that these two get along so well. If they didn't, I'm worried what my bedroom would look like." Mitsuko had gotten used to keeping Alimet and Razi in her bedroom, despite the house staff's protests. They had been worried that the two animals would fight, and muss up Mitsuko's room but fortunately, they seemed to be the best of friends. Well, kind of, at least.

Smiling, she gave a little shake of her head. "I'm not that great of a singer, but it's something I always loved to do." She admitted. For a moment, she was pulled back into her memories of when she was a child, sitting outside in the garden with only nature to keep her company. It had been pleasant. She could always sing to get rid of her worries...now, she didn't seem to have much time for things like that.

Listening intently, Mitsuko made a face as he spoke about finding someone to take his mother's role. "Poor Katsuo-kun. Basically being forced into this..." She then shut up, listening as the boy continued. She processed everything he said into her head, though rather slowly. Processing...processing...prrrrrocessing....

"Oh!" Finally realizing what Katsuo meant, Mitsuko's eyes lit up. "You- Recordi- Song- " She tripped over her words in surprise, before she finally clamped her mouth shut. A look of confusion coming over her face as she tried to find the right words to say.

Katsuo couldn't help but picture an enormous room filled with the chaos and destruction brought about by a large dog fighting against a small cat. There was no possible way that a room could tolerate such torment for very long.

The boy thought back to some of the songstresses and singers that he'd heard in the recording studio years before. There were so many of them, really... "I'm sure that that's just your opinion. I've heard a lot of singers. Some of the best don't think they're good at all. If they just had a bit more confidence, then they'd be at a completely different level than they are now."

"You know what? I think that you should have chosen to become a doctor by yourself, too. You seem like you'd make a great one." He nodded, easily picturing Mitsuko in a Pediatrics job somewhere. That thought lead him to wonder what kind of doctor she was actually going to be. "So, are you going to be an all-around doctor, or are you going to specify one part of it, like a certain age group?"

"Yeah, I think you've got it, Mitsuko." Katsuo laughed aloud again at her fumbling. He knew that she'd managed to get the basic idea of what he'd said. "My parents want me to be in the executive's room during all of their business deals. I've just... Never really been interested in that stuff." But apparently to his parents, it didn't really matter. They must have thought he'd eventually except the proposition of the highest-paid executive of the company and give up fighting.

Looking thoughtful, the girl shuffled her feet, before smiling at Katsuo. "You've probably heard a lot of people sing, then. Maybe sometime I can sing for you, and you tell me what you think?" She asked, hopefully. She knew that making singing her career was out of the question, but she wanted to get as close as she could, before she let her little dream die away. Stretching, she laughed softly, "I warn you though, with no professional training, I'll probably make your ears bleed."

The girl beamed at Katsuo's words, feels pride rise in her chest. "Thanks Katsuo-kun!" She grinned brightly at the compliment, clasping her hands together in front of herself. "An all-around doctor, yup. I want to help anyone and everyone who's seeking medical attention, or just wants someone to listen to their concerns about something." She nodded eagerly, before reaching out to pat Katsuo on the head. "I'll give you free checkups once I'm a doctor, mmkay?"

She still seemed rather startled by the news, but nodded as the boy spoke. Tapping her chin thoughtfully, she murmured, "Well...there's a musical going on for us first years..." She perked up, looking intently at Katsuo, "Why not join the musical? It'll be fun!"

Katsuo shrugged to his classmate, knowing that he had seen more than his fair share of singers. At least all of them were a little different stylistically. "Anytime you want to, I'm willing to listen." He accepted her idea contently. "But trust me. Sometimes even professional training doesn't help." Among all of the nice artists that his parents had signed, there were also a few not-so-good ones that he would have done better to ignore.

"You're welcome." He smiled to her, rubbing his arm. She seemed to get rather excited at what he thought was just a minor compliment. "You've got your work cut out for you, then. I can tell you already that there's more of them then there are of you." It seemed as though Mitsuko had big plans. Plans that conveniently matched those of her parents. "Thanks. I'll be sure to take you up one that as soon as I can."

At least the truth answered her question, even if it didn't exactly make her happy. He was already too deep into the truth to start lying now. "A... Musical? Do you think I'd actually be helpful in something like that?" He said skeptically.

Happily, she nodded, "Thanks, Katsuo-kun. But really, I think your ears -will- bleed after you hear me sing." Her eyes twinkled as she continued, "Good thing my parents are both doctors, hm?" It was very convenient for Mitsuko, hbeing accident prone and having doctors as parents. That being said however, it was also rather sad and ironic that Mitsuko was to pursue the career of a doctor, while she herself would probably become her first patient.

"I know I've got my work cut out for me but..." She smiled, shaking her head, "Helping people is something I enjoy doing, so I'lll try to help anyone and everyone who comes to me." She nodded confidently, before giggling. "Katsuo-kun, while I do offer you free check-ups, I hope you'll be healthy in life so you'll never have a need to come for one." Impossible yes, as everyone had to get sick at least once in their life but Mitsuko could only hope for the health of her friends and family.

Drumming her fingers together, she glanced up at the sky in thought, before nodding absent mindedly. "I know you would be helpful, Katsuo-kun. And it'll be good experience..." Trailing off, she looked back at the boy with a smile, "Whatcha say? At least give it a try?"

Katsuo sighed and shook his head and his finger. "I don't think it's a good idea to make my ears bleed, Mitsuko-chan. If I become deaf, then I'm pretty much doomed for the rest of my life. At least career-wise." He laughed, hoping that she knew that he was just kidding. If it was possible that he would seriously become deaf from someone's singing, then he would have to pick and choose each singer he listened to instead of getting to enjoy them all.

Mitsuko really did have an optimistic point of view. He could say that she seemed slightly sheltered, as well. But it was obvious that her happiness was contageous. He hadn't been this excited in a while. "You've really got high hopes, Mitsuko-chan. But, I guess it is best to aim the highest that you can." She really was a light-hearted person. "Thanks for the good wishes, but I'll probably still have to go to get checkups once in a while."

His glance had focused itself on her from the point when she mentioned the musical. It was a bit of a shock, especially since he'd never been in a school play before, let alone one set to music. "I think... That I'll try out. If only for the experience. I can always just stop trying out for plays if I don't like it."
PostPosted: Fri Oct 19, 2007 8:16 pm

"Eep!" ...Mitsuko wasn't good at taking jokes... "Maybe I should practice some more before I let you hear me sing then! And, and I'll sing quietly, andandand - " She would have continued, if not for Alimet gently nudging her leg. Panting, he looked up at her with a, 'he was kidding' look - or at least, that's what Mitsuko interpretated it to be. It was hard to tell what faces her pets were making. "Oh."

Smiling softly, the girl nodded as she glanced up towards the sky again. "Someone important to me always told me to aim high, and to be happy in life. Even though she's no longer around, I'm going to follow her words." Looking down again, she grinned, "Besides, if I have to be a doctor, might as well be a good one. And if you ever get sick, tell me so I can make you some of my tea. Guranteed to make you feel better."

Happily, the girl pressed her palms together, her eyes lit up. "Yay, Katsuo-kun! And that's right! Might as well try it once, right?"

"Ah, no, no, I..." He shook his hands to try to tell her that he was just kidding. However, Alimet seemed to beat him to the punch. Katsuo laughed wholeheartedly, yet still softly enough so that anyone passing by wouldn't stare. It seemed as though her dog was a little more able to realize when someone was telling a joke than its owner was.

This time, Mitsuko's classmate looked up at the sky with her. It was still a nice day out -maybe after this, he would pass by a vendor and go get some ice cream before going home. "That person give good advice. If she gave you any more, it'd probably be a good idea to follow that, too." He smiled to her. "That is wise. And I'll be sure to come to you first if I'm sick. Though I don't think I want to get sick anytime soon, I would like to try your tea."

"But I swear, if I don't like it, I'm not doing it again, understand?" He warned, a serious frown on his face. "But... How do I go about joining it?"
