Xitha sighed.
Lux, never mind. Shinta's already found Tochi. I'll bring you up here now, Xitha said.
A gust of wind gently swept Lux into the air, carrying her beside Xitha.

Before Xitha closed the mind link he replied, This one understands Xitha-dono, but must do what he feels is right. No one should have their brother's blood on their hands, it is a terrible thing.

Somewhat to her astonishment, Lux found herself watching the three men from an aerial perspective. She had thought Xitha was hiding in a bush or something; she supposed there was no reason for a mage to go crawling in the dirt.
*Why is it that I'm suddenly able to speak telepathically?* she asked Xitha as she watched the men below.

"Well Kax, what's it going to be?" Kax slashed across once and double slashed while rushing forward. Tochi hopped back and had enough time to move his body parrelell to the ground, Kax slashed up and crossed his bladesas he pushed forward. Tochi pushed off the ground and spun as he moved vertical. He hit the Swords and got Oni through the defences. Kax stopped again as he looked at his hand at the blood that apeared and the blood on the tip of Oni. He stood there for thirty seconds. long after he should have been dead. He had a confused look on his face. he then looked at his foot. There between his toes was the blue needle. he looked to Tachi, who wasn't there.

Do whatever you feel is right, Shinta. But remember, you did give up killing... this man may deserve death, she said, warning in her tone of "voice."
To Lux, she said, You can speak telepathically to me because I can "hear" your "voice." Non-telepaths can generally "speak" to a telepath but not to other non-speakers. So it's not that you're suddenly a telepath, it's just that I can "hear" you and establish a link. You've probably never met a telepath before, or you would know this.
As Xitha spoke to Lux, she felt a faint stirring. She looked sharply at Lux with mage-sight, and was rather surprised.
Actually... I just realized this. After establishing a link with your mind, I felt a trace of mage-energy. I believe you might have mage-talent, including telepathy... You've probably always been a telepath, but you've never spoken to a telepath before so you didn't know, she said as she scanned Lux again.

Lux quite nearly fell off the wind.
*Mage-talented?? Are you serious?* she said incredulously. She had never thought she could possibly be gifted, never even considered what it would be like. She thought about it for a moment. If she were mage-talented, it would be an added bonus to her already existing skills. It'd certainly make hunting easier, anyway.

((Sorry Tochi, none of that here. I didn't see a bathroom section in the forum, did you? wink ))
Very few truly deserve death. I know that now. Shinta replied to Xitha. My aim is to knock him out. Then we can take him to the pagoda and try to convert him to our side. If that does not work, one of you can banish him easily enough to another realm from whence he will be unable to return.

The red-haired swordsman stood unmoving, eyes closed, as he cast out his senses for the ninja. He poised one hand over the hilt of his sword.

((And hurry up! This is getting interesting! blaugh ))
Xitha laughed mentally, and told the wind to make sure Lux didn't go anywhere.
To Lux she said, Yes there is definitely a trace of mage-gift. However, it's not very strong, which means you'll probably be a Journeyman at best. There are 4 levels of mages: Apprentice, Journeyman, Master, and Adept. I am an Adept, which is how I could see the mage-potential in you. However, just because your talent is limited, it doesn't mean you can't be effective. You won't necessarily be able to call tornedos, but once you understand the limits of your powers, you'll be able to use them quite effectively. Like guiding your arrow shots, as I did back at the gates.
Xitha paused for a moment, and studied Lux through mage-sight.
If you like, I can give you training here, in the pagoda, before you leave with Shinta and Sasha. It shouldn't take too long to teach you the basics, and once you know the basics the skill comes with practice. With your level of talent... you'll be able to cast minor illusions, manipulate the elements to a small degree... but I can explain this all later.
As Xitha turned back to the fight, she saw something out of the corner of her mage-sight. Turning back to Lux, she examined Lux' energy once again, this time looking for green energy. Pure mage-energy appeared to Xitha as bright gold. Green energy indicated healing-magery, and yes! there was a green tint to Lux' mage-energy.
More news... looks like you have some healing potential too, Xitha said with a smile.
((Hope you don't mind me turning you into a mage all of a sudden))

Kax hid his essence, a trick from his mother's side and eyed the combatants. two in the air. one on the ground and one hidden.

If that does not work, one of you can banish him easily enough to another realm from whence he will be unable to return. Convert him? Highly unlikely, Xitha said to Shinta. However, banishing him somewhere where he can consider his deeds for all eternity... now that's appealing!
