in that case I like subbed better. They usually have really annoying voices in dubbed versions =/

I usually like the Japanese voices better. They just seem to fit the characters more...

I was wondering but in subbes is it the people who like animate or the people who people like funimation who put it on Tv, who pick the voices in teh jap. version that is.

I personally prefer subbed. In most cases the voices sound a lot better in Japanese plus some dubs cut out a lot of stuff. Like Zatch Bell. They edit so much stuff in the dub it's not even funny!

Really? I only saw the dub of Zatch Bell now I think I'll check out the subbed version to compare. I personally prefer the subbed over the dubbed. Most of the dubbed voices just don't match and are very annoying and at first before I started watching the subbed versions I kept thinking "No I like the dub and the voices" but after I started watching the subbed version of Naruto online I grew more to the origonal voices and the next time I heard the dubbed it was like my ears were bleeding. Besides as pointed out alot of things get cut out for dubbs I mean I heard from a friend that in the german(I think) version of Naruto that they editied out kuni and shuriken! I was all o.o because if its a show about ninja's how can you not have kuni and shuriken? Its things like that that can really kill an anime for you. Don't get me wrong not all dubbs are bad, I find the dubb for Outlaw Star pretty good but I'm still partial to the subbs.

I love subbed.
But I usually watch dubbed.
The only show I'm trying to watch all the way through subbed is Sailor Moon. 17/200?

Chocobo River Chick Really? I only saw the dub of Zatch Bell now I think I'll check out the subbed version to compare. Yeah all the blood is cut out, there are no bad words, they didn't cut out guns but they are edited to look less menacing, in one episode the guns are unedited but in another episode guns were edited to have a glowy, "kryptonite" green around them to hide the details. Also Folgore's song lyrics were changed, the characters names were changed, and for some reason they got ponygon a new voice. I'm glad they edited this out but in the japanese version Gash (Zatch) sometimes walks around with no clothes 0.o

For me, it depends on a lot of things. Did, in the whole process of dubbing/bringing to america the story get changed a lot [ie, where there lots of the kinds of edits you guys are refering to happen]? Then I'd probably watch it subbed. Does the dub basically suck? Then I'll watch it subbed. But there are a lot more good dubbings now than subtitle fans give the world credit for. I think the Cowboy Bebop dub was done really well. I actually like some of the voices more than their japanese counter parts. Same with Samurai 7 and Blue Submarine no. 6.
LONG STORY SHORT- depends on what I'm watching.

i'm new to the guild but on this topic, i say subbed. like in One piece (seems everybody comes back to that lollipop), they edited out the smoking, the swearing, the blood, and most of the most influentional parts! i mean come on! i'm gonna go off on the lollipop now. HOW OLD IS HE? 5? Sanji is a chain smoker, bad habit, but that is who he is. they also leave out some good dialog (e.g.: "Crap chef" "Marimo head") but in some cases i do like the dubbed (e.g. Kodocha) but the voices fit better in subbed.

Ah, don't be so hard on anime candy. Admitedly, I'm not exactly a candy-fanatic myself, but I've learned through Deathnote that you can still be creepy regardless of 'childish' habits. Of course, I can't see Jigen in Lupin the 3rd eating candy instead of smoking, ergo I guess it sort of depends on the situation. ^^;

Both kind of, but I prefer dubbed since I rewatch a lot and dont always pay full attention, and sometimes the subbed ones just go by too fast lol.
