Well, you also have to watch out...
Some people may feel more... what's the word... assualted when you approach them with a lot of people behind you. I mean, it's kind of like coming to her with an army behind you. She may be even more likely to say no if you do that. You need to sit down with her and tell her your feelings in earnest. Telling her that you want to spread tolerance and education is definately the right idea and the way to go.

And thinking about it, if you want to start a GSA at school. Exacly how can she stop you?

I think the most she can do, apart from making your home life a living hell, is complain about it at PTA meetings, and she wouldn't have much of an arguement, since it'd be against her own kid.

Regardless of what your mother says, most school districts are obligated to let you start a GSA. Talk to an administrator, and if you don't feel comfortable with that, find an organization affiliated with your school that fights for equal rights in schools. Ours is Safe Schools Coalition.
