He smiled, knowing that his father used to say that on lovely nights. But his father had betrayed him so long ago,.. But he didnt care now. It really didnt matter.
He had been a good father to Naina, and he always would be. A father isnt a name.. Its a job, and he was destined to be working forever.
"So what of you, fair one? Do you have any family?"

The arctic mare smiled softly a his description, holding back giggles. is description was so poetic, even though they were just going to take a casual walk. She began to take a few steps ahead to start off the walk, looking behind her as to see if he would follow. At his next words, Cosette jerked her head forward and let out a nervous laugh, an embarressd look overcoming her face.
Family... "Well, umm, I obviously must have parents, but uh..." She trailed off, knowing how silly she sounded. She had no record in her mind of a family. The only memories she had were ones made here, not ones from her original home. Everything up until leaving the mountains was a blur. Shaking her head, she fofered a very sheepish grin, "I have a family, just not one I can remember."

He saw that she was embarrased at the thought of family, and he instantly felt a pang of regret on asking the question.
But he didnt remember his mother, and his father had hurt him so badly so long ago. He'd rather not remember his father, and then, he'd be in the same boat?

God only knows, that I too, have a family.. But with a mother who died so long ago, that I cannot remember. And a father who gave me over to the human that sold me here.. Betrayal, is worse than not remembering."
He said, picking up his heavy hooves, to join her side for their walk.
He hoped he hadnt struck a raw nerve in her. She seemed so nice, and he'd prefer not to hurt her if he could help it.

Cosette didn't know what to say to his response. Never having dealt with betrayal, she didn't know how it felt. However, it sounded worse than just not being able to remember something. An an attempt to lighten the mood, she let out a soft laugh, a faint smile pulling at her lips, "I can only imagine." She said simply, shaking her head slightly before looking to the stallion at her side.
"But hey, you turnd out alright. I turned out alright. So whatever happened, it turned out to be for the better good, even if not intentionally."

He knew this area well, and knew that a single apple tree resided behind a rather large mountain. They were already close, so he figured he'd lead her there.
None knew of the tree, because the mountain scared them. After all, what was an apple tree doing behind a mountain?
He didnt know, and frankly, didnt truly care. But the apples were delicious, and yummy.
"Do you like apples?"

(I am quite interested, but I'd like to get some more roleplay in with her and then see. I hope that is fine?)
"Apples...?" She echoed, eyes narrowing to playfully scrutinize Jean-Claude. "You mean they grow here? ... Yeah!" Cosette laughed, her spirits lifting more now that they were off the topic of family. Sure, she really wondered about them, but it wasn't the most positive topic to bring up. Now apples... That's a different story. Apples were good. But here, by the floor of the mountains? That sounded a bit fishy...
"Lead the way."

Jean Smiled, nodding a bit, causing his dark curls to bob up and down with his motions. A single strand floated into his eyes, but he quickly brushed it away smiling.
"Oui! We do have apples here. Not a secret I share with all.. But you seem special enough to share such a secret with."
He said grinning, fangs present.
He walked, turning to make sure she was close behind.
A few more steps, and she;d see the small tree, that was surrounded by sunlight or starlight all the time.. It never failed.
He'd wait until her eyes set upon it.

At the word "special", Cosette flashed a large grin, giggling a bit. At the closer sght of his fangs, her grin almost faltered, and she began to question whether or not this Soquili was actually going to show her some apple tree or was just leading her farther away to harm her. She hadn't seen fangs on a normal Soquili, but he seemed nice enough.
"Heeey, I have a question-- Woah." She paused in step, her red eyes catching the lone tree. Raising her brows, she laughed lightly and flicker her tail happily. So there was an apple tree here! Glancing back to the tan stallion, she chuckled nervously, "U-um, so what's with the fangs?"

He knew she faltered, and he knew why. His heart sank a bit, but it didnt show on his features, in fact he remained e motionless almost.
He looked at her, hearing her words and knowing that there was something behind it.
Relief maybe?
"I was born to a well to do mother and father. Though Im not truly vampire, as I have yet to meet a vampire Soquili.. I am similar. The fangs juts come from my father, who got them from his and so on."
He stopped, and looked at her.
"No need to worry. I assure you. I do not use my fangs on anyone undeserving."

"Ohhhhh," She mumbled eyeing them curiously, not with a hint of fear. So they were just from his father? Genetics, such a quirky thing. He tapped her flat ivory teeth with her tongue, only feeling the hard flat ridges. She wondered if he ever camped down too hard and cut himself with thos fangs, but that was quite the silly thought.
His next comment however, made her rais a brow. "What do you mean by that?" She inquired, pursing her lips as she watched him, her hooves however listing slowly to ehad over to the tree, her stomach desiring an apple. However, he still had her full attention.

Jean Claude smiled a bit, shaking his head.
Should he tell her his past? His war horse of the French past? He was sure she wouldnt understand the idea of a 'Settler'. But the french had come over a couple of years ago, and he'd escaped, leaving himself to the wild, and away from the horrible treatment of the French Militia.
"Well, does a horse not use his teeth when fighting or defending his territory? Even one without fangs?"
He asked. Horses always used their teeth, his were just a bit longer, it truly didnt matter too much.. But if she wanted to know, he'd tell her.

Cosette made a face at him, "I don't. Well, I don't know. I haven't had to defend any territory," She laughed softly before looking up at the sky thoughtfully, "Well, I guess. You've had altercations I'm assuming? Physical altercations?" She inquired, hoping that she wasn't pressing the stallion. She wondered how a Soquili would use theirteeth against another. Hers were flat, good for chewing grass. He had fangs, so maybe he had an advantage?
"I use mine to eat and to tear things... Well, if I evr get into a fight or something I'll know to use 'em." She offered a silly grin before walking towards the tree, craning her neck to snag an apple. She paused before hand and looked back at the tan colored stallion.
"You want one?"
