"Alright," Shaydra said. "I'll become human then." Colors swirled around her as she spoke, tightening and widening until her serpentine form was out of view.
When the colors dissapeared, Shaydra had become a human child no older than eleven with a pencil behind her ear and a dagger strapped to the back of her hand. She smiled at Luxran. "I like traveling as a human child, and this was my age when I discovered I was a dragon. Don't worry, this form is faster than it looks."
She looked to the direction opposite from where she came. "That's the way to the fortress. We follow the river until a smaller river joins it. Then we turn right until we see a high cliff with a building on it. That would be the fortress. Then I'd have to fly you up, since there's no other way to get there. Then we hide from the guards until the change shift, then we climb up a small hill, where we'll have a good view of the whole layout. After that, we'll decide what to do. Let's get going."

After a long walk, they were nearing the cliff where the fortress was perched when Shaydra noticed a new alertness in Luxran. Colors swirled around her as she transformed back to a dragon.
"What is it?" Shaydra asked her traveling companion.

"Why?" Shaydra asked, walking after him with a look of confusion on her face. "It could of changed. Do you sense something?"

"How did you know about that?" whispered Shaydra with wide eyes.

Shaydra leapt in after Luxran. She looked around, disoriented. "Hmm, I'm no shadow dragon, so I can't see in the dark. I can only see during dusk, dawn, and day," she murmured. "But I can improvise."
For a couple of seconds, the soft scratch of Shaydra's pencil was heard in the dark. Then she said, "Now I can see."
Looking around again with yellow, glowing eyes quite different from her liquid brown-black color, she noticed Luxran deeper in the cave. She caught up with him and whispered, "What now?" A feeling in the cave compelled her to whisper.
There was also a funny smell in the air, too faint for Luxran's human nose to notice.

Shaydra glared at Luxran's receding back until it dissapeared into the shadows. Who was he to tell her what to do? Her long-ago ancestors had eaten his ancestors for dinner!
Taking out her pencil again, she started drawing in the air around her, but this time, a puff of lead flew out from the pencil tip every time she made a line, making a cloud that kept growing until Shaydra had dissapeared inside it, covering her movements.
Inside the cloud, Shaydra shook her pencil twice.
The lead cloud dissolved rapidly, revealing...nothing.
Shaydra had changed into something like a ghost. She was completely invisible, and she had masked her scent so nothing could track her. She had also made herself transparent, so if she happened to bump into something, she'd pass right through it. She grinned.
Suddenly she heard a scream. She ran ahead, thinking it was Luxran. Reaching a four-way path, she swiveled her ears, detecting the scream from the left path. She ran down it until she came to a clearing. There was sand and a small pond, nothing else. Shaydra turned around...and froze.
A few feet behind her, on the right side of the entrance, sat another ogre, quietly chewing on a deer leg. She heard him grumble in Ogrese(which, luckily, Shaydra could understand), "Him say they'd come when I make screaming sound. I suppose kill them, dragon and man. Man tastes good!" He grunted and licked his chops. "Dragon, too tough meat. They kill Grhhckledrg, my brother. They both be eat by me!" He growled again.
Shaydra thought quickly. She had to kill the ogre, because ogres tended to find you again in the worst situations. If she tried to draw a weapon with her pencil to kill him, he could hear the sound. She decided that Luxran should make a surprise attack.
Taking out a telapathy orb from a bag hanging on her wing, She swallowed it. Immediately, she felt Luxran's mind brush against her own. Connecting their minds, making contact, she told him quickly, {There's an ogre where I am. He's ordered to kill us, so we should kill him. Go down the left path quietly, then when you see light, make a surprise attack, killing hem. You won't see me, I made myself invisible. Come on!} She broke contact and snuck back out, making sure not to alert the ogre.

The ogre gurgled. He turned aroung and glared at Luxran. They stared at each other for a moment, than the ogre lurched for Luxran with the dagger still in his neck, growling, "I eat human before! I eat again. Should of eaten human woman long ago, then she don't have this human pup, kill my brother, hurt me, pain!"
Just before the ogre could get his grimy hands around Luxran's neck, an unseen force crashed into the ogre, forcing the body into the deep pool. A minute passed, and something invisible splashed out of the pool, making gasping sounds and making a dripping trail towards Luxran. A soft pencil scratching sounded, and a lead cloud appeared in front of Luxran. When it dissapeared, Shaydra knelt in front of Luxran, sodden wet and gripping her pencil.
"H-h-hi," she gasped, shivering and gasping for air. "Th-thanks for k-killing him," her chest heaving.
