Chronicles of Narnia. I started it a couple of year ago and have yet to finish it. So very BIG.

...have a tendency to take breaks in the middle of books and forget about then...

Me too! I started reading Neverwhere, got about a hundred pages in, and took a break. Then I read the first Harry Potter book, started the second, took a break from THAT, then started 21 proms, and I just haven't had time to finish any of them! And I love Neverwhere and 21 proms, so I'm not sure why it happened.

It usually only takes me a week at the most to finish a book. I'm a fast reader and devour books. Though there have been some that I started reading that became boring and I could barley get through a few pages. So sometimes if a book is really bad I'll just stop and won't pick it up again for a while or never

It usually only takes me a couple days to read a book... When I was on vacation, it took me a week. Every now and then, there is a book I stop reading, but it doesn't happen that often.

that happens to me constantly... it can take me six months to finish a book because I've always got between 2-5 books that I'm reading. I get distracted easily, so, while I'm reading a greeky mythological tale, I may get bored, so, I pick up a more modern piece. When I get bored with that but don't want to go back to mythology I may read some philosophy... when that totters out I may return to the mythology... it's just kind of always shifting.

I spent a good two hours last night trying to get through one paragraph. That being said, the television was on and my baby boy was sick. I was quite distracted. It was Twilight Watch by Segei Lukyanenko, and if you don't pay careful attention to what happens, you're lost for the next five hundred pages until the novel wraps up.

The Grapes of Wrath took me almost a month and a half to read. It was a school assigned book and because I found it so incredibly boring I couldn't read it for extended periods of time. My mind would start to wonder and by the time I made my way back to the stroy I didn't even know what I read! I ended up using sparknotes for my assignments because I only remembered bits and pieces of the novel.
Alas Babylon (also school assigned) also took me a while because I didn't like the story line. By the time I finished I couldn't understand why my school would assign a book about a nuclear bombing in Florida! If it's a book I like reading I can finish it fairly quickly but most of my school assigned books are terrible for me.
Their Eye Were Watching God is another one I had trouble with because the speech was written in like old southern dialect, the story was terrible, and the writing style bugged me so much!

It seems to be taking me forever to finish Jane Eyre which is sad because I love this book. I think I've been reading on it for a week in total. (I took a few days off because I was trying to focus on Pride & Prejudice as part of a book challenge thing.)

Depending on the size of the book, I tend to finish them in a matter of days, especially when I like the concept of the book. I did have a problem with a Star Wars book known as Allegiance, though... I loved the plotline, and I got halfway through it in a matter of days even when I was busy, but then I suddenly just...put it down, and picked something else up. I had to renew the book from the library so many times, and I finished it over a month later (if not more).

It took me almost 2 years to read Blood of the Fold my Terry Goodkind. Reason being: I had read the first two books already and liked them. I had a looong 16+ hour trip to Australia. So I bought the book to read on the plane. I read a couple of chapters on the plane, then ended up sleeping the rest of the time.. haha. I was too busy in Australia the 2 months I was there... Brought the book back home with me, and was so happy to be back home that I just kind of forgot about it.. redface I finally decided to start reading again this year, so picked it up and then finished it in the week. blaugh

I've been trying to read the Lord of The Rings series for 5 years, but still can't get past the first few chapters of 'The Hobit'..... sweatdrop

Thankfully the longest it's ever taken for me to read a book is probably only about 3 weeks, if I haven't finished it by then, it usually means I haven't liked it and put it down permanantly. (ie. Wheel of Time Series - got to page 20 and no further)

Really? eek The first couple chapters are rather boring and lame, but it gets better after that.
