WhiteJoker I'd want ToS too, except it's for the GC, and I don't have a GC, or plan on getting one so that's out. Guess I'll wait for the PS2 port, or the next Tales game which is slated for the PS2. Prince of Persia may not look that great but trust me, once you get into playing it, it's amazing. It starts of fairly easy but from the simple controls you start with it just gets more and more deep. Really good game, and it's not too hard. MegaTen is an RPG, but it aims for immersion. In the original games you played from a first person perspective, but in 3, you play from a third person perspective (over the shoulder sort of). They deal very heavily with mythology and it does a very cool job of merging dozens of mythologies and what not into a single workable story. I'm even more in love with one of it's spin-off series, Persona, which is absolutely amazing when it comes to mythos, psychology, and just plain awesome thoughts. MegaTen is one of the top five most popular RPG series in Japan, just to let you know. Demi-Children, if you've ever heard of it, is one of it's spin-off series. Growlanzer's a tactical RPG without the grids. Sprite based but conversations are done with still profile images. Don't know much about it but Working Designs has rarly gone wrong with their localization of RPGs. But... there's a new FE coming out for Gamecube! gonk I would check it out if I had the money. Trust me. sweatdrop I should check out MegaTen, though. eek I'm a major sucker for popular Japanese RPGs with all their little spinoffs and such. I lurve tactical RPGs... (As you can kinda tell with all the Fire Emblem whoring).

Kinetic Dream I have always been, and will always be, all about the old school games. I usually end up playing those more often than the newer games out now. Current playlist: Lufia and the Fortress of Doom, Lufia Rise of the Sinistrals, Castlevania (All platforms except GB & PS2), DDR Extreme, Pump It Up, Initial D Version 2, Final Fantasy 6, Persona 2: Eternal Punishment, and of course Xenogears. That's all the old stuff... then there's also: Mega Man Aniversary, Castlevania: Lament of Innocence, and The Suffering. Yeah, I like the 16-bit s**t. sweatdrop Old school pride! crying *high-fives Kin* Gameboy Castlevania games = THE s**t.

I miss Pinobee! gonk That game was really fun, even if it was kinda dumb.. kinda annoying how if you don't do something good that person blocks you from getting a good ending. Oh, and I miss Pokemon Snap, too!

Cynder WhiteJoker SUPER ROBOT WARS IS COMING!!!! But I have to buy a GC! gonk question The latest in the Super Robot Wars series has a proposed North American release but it's for the GC! crying Super Robot Wars, if you didn't know, is basically a tactical RPG that takes dozens of mecha anime (super robot and realistic robot) shows and throws them together into a crossover sort of plot. So basically, you get control of the good guys from all these series (Gundam, Eva, Nadesico, Mazinger, Dragonar, etc) and you get to fight off the bad guys with them! And it's all done with chibi-style artwork!!

In one class at my summer camp today, we were playing some Gundam video game.. at the character selection part, I screamed "Quatre! They have Quatre!*" And everyone stared at me like I wasn't allowed to know who that was.
XDDD
[*logic behind this -- even though i've never watched anything gundam, quatre looks like tohma. thus quatre is my favorite character. and this is based purely on how they look. except quatre and everyone else get like 0.000000000000000001 recognition from me because i have no interest in gundam at all.]

Homard is SUCH a motivational speaker it's not even funny at times whee . (Sadly, they pronounce his name Ho-mard, not Hom-ard o.0; wink

It's a huge series but none of it's been brought over before mostly due to the lack of interest in anime. However, there is an SNES version that has been fan translated, though I can't remember which... I'm holding out for Phantom Brave. sweatdrop

WhiteJoker I'm holding out for Phantom Brave. sweatdrop The combat system looks interetsting for Phantom Brave. You summon allies by imbuing them into items on the play field neutral . It seems... strange.

It seems a lot more tactical orientated which I like. Not only do you have to worry about the standard tactics but you have to ensure that your troops are in position to protect you while you summon another ally, you have to choose the right units depending on the terrain (possessed items directly effect character effectiveness) and so much more.

I personally like the stat oriented system that La Pucelle has. The items you equip affect the stats that develop as you level up. The more items you have equipped that affect a certain stat, the faster it advances. The more your stats level, the more critical hit/damage dealing/regen/etc. abilities you get. The Phantom Brave system looks nice, but if they purposefully gear maps agains you, I'm not buying the damn game. On a side note, does anyone know of somewhere that I can host a 150+ meg zip file? ninja

Can't..resist..video game..talk.. gonk
Anywho, yeah. I just had to comment on the thread since I noticed it on my daily visit. Which I don't usually post during, but I'm going to.
I'm going to have to go yay for the people that liked Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance I and II. My sister and I played both of them together, and the first one made us feel cheated ( Damn you, lizard man! You used us! ). I like the second one better, though, just for the chance to pick from a bigger variety of characters. I was the Necromancer in that game. Ahahah..that rocked so much. I liked when we would run around with no clothin equipped in the first one. I'd be the archer, she'd be the dwarf, and I'd chase her around giggling..good times.
As for Final Fantasy games; I've always been a fan of VIII. It will always be my favorite FF game, I loved Irvine and Squall. The storyline was my favorite of the ones that I've played, followed by X.. Whee.. But, yeah. I was never really a fan of VII. I just don't understand what was so great about that game.
The newest game I've played was Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly. If you like games like Silent Hill play Fatal Frame and Fatal Frame II. Such good games, the second was a LOT more creepy than SH3; if that's saying anything, I guess. The storyline is awesome though, the controls are simple, the graphics kick a**, and the music just makes you constantly paranoid. There were times when I was scared to continue on. The ending song is also worth playing the game for. I totally recommend it if you haven't played it yet.
Whee..I'm done now. Sorry for rambling on about nothing.
