She looked kind of clueless.
Letarrio shrugged his shoulders lightly, turning his gaze towards the invisible path in front of him, eyes glazed as he replied. "It smells of brine and tide, the swallows and the swells, and the boldest of winds." He gave her a sideways glance, and the quirk of his lips as his head tilted. "You'll know it when we come to it. It is like nothing you've smelled before, I'm sure."
They were in the thickest part of the small woods now, taking the long way as they had no real direction to go by.
They weren't in a rush, anyway.

Like nothing she had ever smelt before. Brine and Tide, these were new words to Luna's ears. She had never heard of such things. Letarrio's explanation amused her.
The two padded along the heavy wooded area not really knowing what lurked behind the thick plant life. These woods always amazed her with their haunting beauty. Elegant yet dangerous would be the best way to describe them. They had been good to her over her life span. Almost keeping watch over Luna to be sure she was safe. She would miss them when she was away, even though she planned on coming back after seeing the ocean. These woods were her home. Maybe she could steal a little piece of the ocean to bring back. Was she coming back? Maybe the oceans beauty would steal her for it self. There was no telling what would happen. Luna was excited yet terrified now.

"Just a little further, Luna." He reassured her, tail wagging delightedly as a wheeling gull fly past over head, it's shadow darting along the forest floor. It was a little far from the ocean, probably returning to its roost, but Letarrio knew that where there were gulls, there was water. "I'm sure you'll notice some changes... keep an eye out."
Yes, changes indeed! The soil would become softer, grainier, lighter in color until it turned into sand. The rocks would become more unusual, colorful and in strange shapes until they were seashells and sand dollars. The grasses, bushes, and trees would become lighter, thinner, until seaweed lay strewn across the ground, and the fronds of palm trees were the only thing to shade them from the harsh sunlight. And then the roar of the waves crashing down on the beach would come, and they would know.
But not yet.

Luna hurried after Letarrio, her tongue hanging out of the side of her mouth as she did so. Strange birds over head soar above crying out to the pair. She had never seen birds like those, white with black tips on their wings. Mildly gliding only flapping their wings ever so often. Was a strange sight to this land lover wolf.
"Those birds, " She panted, "They look like a ducks and a song birds unholy off spring," She giggled some at her lame joke but was sure to keep her eyes open. The grass was starting to thin out some but she was not sure if this was a change they were looking for or not. Random cries from the birds over head seemed to grow louder and louder.
