Hiya!
I agree with Brina, Arrikanez. It would be nice if you would complete the storylines that you start.
Also, I highly suggest using magic and fantastic element ONLY if they are making a point of some kind. NOT if they are there just for random coolness value.
Finally, drama and angst in RP are good. Too much drama and angst, however, starts getting ridiculous. It's something like crying WOLF too many times - people stop believing you.
Now, Sire was originally DRAWN to be a djinn based fa'e. His appearance should be proof for that. If you do not like it then you should sit down and think VERY HARD about what other story he could be, that still relates to his teen quest plot. There is a lot of legends and mythology related to djins and fire creatures on the web (GOOGLE!). Why not use them, as opposed to make up stuff that has nothing to do with fire, djinns, like vampires?
My main suggestion would be to go and read up on the creature you decided to base Sire off now. This will give you a lot of material to write about. It will also give the story of Sire some coherance. And please, keep to the mythology. It will give your stories a stable base to build upon.
Also, you can't delete the teen quest. Sire completed it, he grew up. It's a done deal.
Okey, and to everybody else who's listening: PLEASE stay away from vampires. A fa'e is alive. It can't be a vampire. Neither can it be an incarnated vampire, b/c they are dammned. That's kinda the point of vampires. And if a Fa'e is EVER embraced, it becomes a vampire and stops beign a Fa'e. Not to mention that the vampire that embraces it willbe royally ******** up for a bit.
EDIT: Oh, forgot. Another suggestion would be to limit the amount of NPC that you introduce in your story lines. Fa'e should interact primarily with other Fa'e, not with an entire army of character nobody but you knows anything about.
EDIT2: Maaaaan, it looks like we shoudl really, like, write a FAQ of Roleplaying suggestions for guardians that get stuck.

Um, reguardless of all the other stuff I think it would be a good idea to point this out. Fa'e seem to be based on myths in the first place. Someone else came up with it. What makes it your own is how you alter this base idea and build a character. Two building can have the same foundation and be totally different. The style of the archetect comes through in the design of the building.
If you don't want to use the same foundation as the other builders, than perhaps taking another idea used often. Look at the idea and plans of other buildings till you see one you can work with or till inspiration hits. At that point you take want you have and make it work for you. The others look at it and react, but you have to live with it.

Oookay, Arri. You want blunt? Here goes.
For one: you deserve a Fa'e just as much as the rest of us. That's not to say you're especially deserving or undeserving. Really, while Fa'e are wonderful pets, they're not some sort of trophy you had to earn. They're a pet offered on Gaia, just like all the rest. So, yes. No one "deserves" a Fa'e, except perhaps with the exception of Prox, who won a Fa'e through a contest that was NOT easy to win. It's pretty much a matter of have, and have-nots. I don't doubt the fact that there are tons of people who could do Dil just as well as I can, if not better. But does that matter? Nope, 'cause he's mine.
Should you change Sire's story? No. Especially not for something as boring and cliché as vampires. Djinns are really, really interesting, if you ask me. They fit his appearance well, and it's not a mythos one sees all too often. Compare the number of Greek Fa'e (I love 'em all, BTW, XD) to the number of Arabic Fa'e. Sire's pretty much the only one, huh? Makes him a lot more interesting. The closest anyone gets is Aadil, who just has an Arabic name.
Your RP skills need work, though. You're a good writer, and sometimes, a lot of fun to write with. I had a blast doing that uncle saving RP, and you did a good job organizing and running it. However, every time - EVERY TIME - I see Sire RPed, he's doing one of the following:
1) Angsting. 2) Commiting suicide. 3) Fainting because he's seriously wounded. 4) Kissing some random guy.
It gets old, it gets repetitive, and it gets ridiculous. I see your actions in RP as self-glorifying, as if you're trying to steal all the attention for Sire to fulfill something you yourself crave. Drama is good! It's a lot of fun to write. But when all a character does is drama, drama, drama, it creates this wall between them and other RPers. There are times I will not bring Aadil into the thread simply because Sire is there. There are other times that I will bring him into the thread BECAUSE Sire is there, just to have Dil point out how silly a situation is.
You also need to work on making Sire a more believable character. Look at Dil's comments on Sire in his opinion post. They're obviously exaggerated to match with the character, but there are also some very valid points in there. You tend to jump the gun much too quickly with the character - he falls in and out of relationships like nobody's business. And sometimes this is all right, depending on the character. However, Sire - as far as I can tell - has not been developed in a manner to make this seem like part of his character. For instance, Sire fell in love witih Dil, after they had spoken twice, give or take. Seriously. How does that make sense? Not only is Aadil probably the biggest a*****e in the Fa'e, but his reaction towards Sire should've CLEARLY been a turn off. The reason Nyoka likes him is because he is not an a** around her - I mean, yes, in a way he is, but he's not a mean a**. Dil was giving Sire deathlooks, and he was all, "OMG DIL!"
That makes absolutely no sense. No person in their right mind would fall in love with an a*****e after having only met them twice.
And you trying to be a glory hog during MY teen quest was not cool. Not. Cool. Obviously, I had a sequence of events I was following. Dil was SUPPOSED to be executed. You offering up Sire's life, without proper development I might add, was ridiculous. Even Nyoka - who by that time was in love with Aadil, and he with her, for the most part - didn't do that. That's jumping the gun. That's really, really, REALLY jumping the gun. And the fact that you were trying to take the attention away from Dil to yourself during his own quest was just insane. You need to be sensitive to the fact that somtimes other characters deserve attention too, ESPECIALLY if it's their quest, man. That's a characters time to shine; don't butt in. Play your part, and then back off. And the way you justified it was even worse. "Every RP has curve balls" or something along those lines. Yes, if you're doing random HQ RP, that's FINE. But the quest was obviously being planned out by me, and you had no right to go and try to disrupt events.
And what was amazing was the fact that, not even two days after Sire had offered to DIE for Aadil, he seemed to have moved on to Anen. What the hell? That's crazy. I mean, talk about rebounding. Jumping the gun again.
Stop making Sire so damn perfect. Is there anything Sire can't do? Guitar, sketching, fighting - you name it, he's got it down pat. Dil can't do jack s**t. He's good with his knife, but he's got this kick a** spear and he ends up completely confused by it. Dil suffers from the physical flaw of not being very strong, but he makes up for it in speed and raw energy. I've yet to see any flaw in Sire. A perfect example of this is Sire "letting" Dil win that fight they had. Come on. That's ridiculous. Yes, we were talking on AIM at the moment, but we both agreed that Sire lost. So why make Sire look like a martyr and go "Well, I let you lost so you could look good in front of Nyoka." That just TOTALLY sucks out the fun of it and makes my character look like a complete wuss. Sire losing was not a bad thing, 'cause he put up one hell of a fight. Dil won 'cause he played dirty, really. And it wouldn't be out of character for Dil to say, "Yeah, wel, I let you win!" out of spite when it clearly was not the case, had he lost, but Sire doing it was just... random. And, again, self-glorifying. You need to be more aware of the characters Sire is RPing with and focus less on your own once in a while.
For a loooonnng period of time, I was very angry, because Sire ended up practically cloning Dil's personality, and a lot of people agree with me on this account. However, I've noticed recently that he's no longer a Dil-clone, so kudos on that. Please keep it up, one Dil is more than enough.
Arri, you've got a whole shitload of potential. However, the problems you do have can be devestating to a RP. I know you can fix 'em up, though. Trust me, I wouldn't offer critique if I didn't think you weren't capable of improving.
At the moment, I am more than slightly drugged up on cold meds. If I think of anything else, I'll add it. I'm sorry this seems harsh, but you asked for it.

Blah I've missed a lot during my week downtime, have I not? O_o anyhow, Arri, I don't know you that much, but I do agree with Brina; You deserve a Fa'e, pfft, of course XP you're active enough, and love Sire, however, and allthough he IS yours...... you can't just delete a whole quest (well, you can XD but if you REALLY do want to do that, I'd pause and think about it hard and clear, and make sure what you chose, you'll stick to to), because it's part of the Fae's life; it's like... making him go back a stage;
Besides, anyone he'd have interacted with about it, would be forced to forget that part too, which is tough.
Anyhow, if Mouse only suggested it doen't make it her idea XD you've... developed it; it's yours to the very end! Relax and don't be so harsh with yourself, I'm sure all of us have accepted a bit of ideas from others at some point ^^
If you're not truly happy with the concept.... why don't you give some sort of twist somewhere? You can ALWAYS twist a concept... in many ways without is seeming strange ^^

I'd like to "ditto" what DFA has said. I don't really know what else to say - as I have my-fa'e-being-dramatic "issues" as well. So. Yeah. Can't throw stones xD
I must say that I do think you're a good writer, though. Had to add that.

Prolixity While I liked the djinn concept, I also understand wanting to write a concept that's not someone else's. Being short with this because I'm aware I have something of a bias as a personal friend. I hope someone has some kind of idea as to a possible resolution, because I certainly don't. Better to get conflicts out in the open, though, as has been recently and unpleasantly demonstrated. Actually, I liked the djinn concept too. It just seemed too similar to something I'd already seen done. Mouse had a very good idea, and I got off-track with the whole Juridian B.S. And that was only because I made up Kihlar in my mind, and had to have somewhere to put him. Using Sire for this purpose was a poor idea on my part.

Jiora Arri, I only said that I think you do not deserve a fa'e if you decide to delete that piece of Sire's life. It was his teen quest. Teenquests are supposed to be major turning points in a fa'e's life, right? And you want to simply delete that? It'd be like unmaking Sire. Sure, you can say "Maybe he should go back to being a kid." I really don't think Anya would ever agree to that. You can't press rewind on your life, why should you be able to with a fa'e? And I know that sounds very hypocritical of me since Rune has been reverted to a child stage. ._. However, he never even had a teen quest. It was an error on Anya's part that she admitted to, and it was her suggestion that he return to the child stage. The current plot with him is going to act as his teen quest. My problem is the idea of simply erasing an existing teen quest. You can't have a do-over simply because you didn't like the idea. You agreed to it, obviously - you posted it as his teen quest. You can't simply decide later that you didn't like it and decide to ignore it. x_x I really hope I've explained myself well enough. If there's a problem in my argument, feel free to point it out so I can clarify. You've explained yourself more than well enough. And it was selfish, bratty, and just plain stupid of me to try and change Sire from what he already was. As explained before - Kihlar was an add-on. Something I thought I could go somewhere with. I was wrong, and I apologize for even MAKING this thread. You are right. I cannot go about erasing Sire's life.

Draconayzia OK, you said be blunt so here it is. Yes you deserve a fa'e you nutty wacko. Your ideas are interesting and tantalizing when you spoke about them in the AIM discussion. I see no reason you should not have a fa'e, especially Sire. If you feel the need to switch plots around then so be it, he's your's. He belongs to you and no one else. The way you've played him thus far has been marvelous. If anyone says otherwise I'll bap them myself. Now get your head out of your rear and into the sun where it can see the light of day and function. You have a brilliantly creative mind, USE IT! ((this announcement courtesy of your overtly blunt and honest neighborhood Drac)) Thank you for your kind support, Drac. :: Hugs :: Your words are a bit of a wakeup call. Thank you.

Sosiqui What Drac said. Of COURSE you deserve a Fa'e, you're being way too hard on yourself. Who cares if the idea was originally Mousekinn's? I think you've made it your own! Lord knows not all my ideas for Riven are original. I decided to have him be a summoner because I liked it in Final Fantasy, for heaven's sake. XD But I made the idea my own, and now it's an integral part of him. It was ultimately because I saw Mouse and Puchi making their own ideas, and was jealous. A bad emotion, I know, and I should have shoved the little [or in this case big] green monster into the closet, and tried to understand that not everything revolves around me.

RikProwley Gosh, that's a toughie... What if you just found a way to incorporate the djinn thing, or morph it into something? Things change, adapt! Maybe you can find a way to transform Sire's djinn aspects into something else using magic! Because the whole fa'e... uh... thing... is totally STEEPED in magic! And magic is chaotic and uncontrollable. So my vote: yes, you deserve a fa'e, and you should just come up with another quest! You're intensely creative, I know you're capable of such a thing. Maybe the whole djinn angle causes a problem and Sire has to get rid of it... or it was all a FRONT, like the Mafia or a sting operation and there's something deeper? I dunno, just trying to be helpful. redface :: Snickers a bit :: As much as that idea is wonderful, and IS a good idea Rik, I can't just delete a part of Sire's life thus far. I've already screwed everything for the Youth quest as it is - but I can't go back. I have to work around my mistakes and try to correct my errors. It's like a challange. And since I love Sire more than I probably should - It's going to be one I embrace with open arms.

Yuumei Tenshi Arri, I'll be truthful. I thought about it after seeing this thread and yeah... I think you deserve a fa'e. But I agree with what others have said so far. I think you shouldn't be so hard on yourself. You've done a great job with Sire. It just seems that you always seem to bring yourself down and stuff... and yeah. You need to smile and be proud of what you've done, alright! Even if the idea wasn't yours, weren't you the one who brought that idea to life? Which brings me to something else--I don't think you should delete Sire's teen quest... perhaps you can do something like what Rik suggested. Because yeah... it's like deleting a part of his life; his being. Um... yeah... don't know what else to say. sweatdrop But yeah. >> ... *poofs away to somewhere else* I love you Yuu ^^ Words of encouragement are greatly appreciated, and serve to kick me in the rear for being down and hoard on myself - and into being far more mature... which doesn't explain why I made this thread in the first place... but thanks.

Brina_Knight Arri, you can't delete the djinn storyline. It is concrete and in the past. You have spoken to other Fa'e about it and it is a part of THEIR history as well. It would be like deleting the quest to find and rescue Sire's uncle. It affects too many people. You should have thought more about what Sire was before deciding to follow a idea that you did not totally support. You should figure out a way that ANYA SUPPORTS to make Sire more to your liking. You deserve a Fa'e. You do RP and you do have new concepts for the diary. Being blunt, my complaints are 1) when you rp, sire is ALWAYS put in a position of danger. it gets.... tiring. 2) i hear all of these half storylines. i hear that sire has moved out, his uncle has done this, sire has done that, but i never SEE the rp or the entry in your journal. i can't keep up with what sire is doing if there isn't physical evidence for me to read that it happened! it makes it hard to rp with you. 1) Once again, that's me wanting to be part of the storyline, and physically inserting myself in it. I've been playing drama for so long that I really don't know HOW to do anything else. When I DO do anything else, Sire and myself are either given passing glances, or ignored entirely. Not saying I don't deserve it - just saying I... I dunno... Maybe I do deserve that, for being such a "cry-wolf" in the first place.
2) This is because much of my storylines I base on dreams I have, and RPs I do with myself in my room. I realize it sounds crazy - but I play both characters, out loud, doing things. I realize also that I should write it down - but I've had bad experiences where people will ask me where I came up with that, I'll tell them, then they'll laugh at me. If there's one thing I've had MORE than enough of, it's being teased. I apologize.

Kochikens I'm sorry for sounding like a total cockhat here, but it's true what Brina says. You deserve a Fa'e, though. And you can't take it out of Sire's life that he's a Djinn. You can develop it, but not just take it out. But, yes. Sire's always in some form of peril, and his plots are really complex and difficult to follow. @-@ other then that, you've done a great job with Sire and no one could ever dream of taking him away. See above >> Cockhat? What's a cockhat? I think you just made up a new word, Kochi XD

Mousekinn ALright. You want blunt. This isn't really blunt. But it's honest. That hurts. It almost sounds accusatory, like it's MY fault you're in this situation. I took time out to try to help you find a good direction for Sire and to try to HELP you from offending people by your RPIng style. Your original idea stemmed from your own created world.. that was, frankly, a bad idea because it gives no one a structured knowledge about this mythos.. you could say hey, my fa'e summons rainign bananas - its' a part of his mythos, adn we' dall be like.. Uhhhhh.. I SUGGESTED a Djinn. I didn't hodl a freaking gun to your head. And, at the time, you were really into it. ANd now, suddenly, he's my character, even though I didn't to a whit of development on him, onkly gave you a mythological basis to run from that sorta fit with his fire theme. It's like you took the time I spent trying to work with you to find a new theme for Sire and now you're RAMMING It back down my throat. And I'm offended, frankly. Any trouble you'r ehaving conecting to Sire is YOUR FAULT, not MINE. YOU chose the idea. I was making goddamn suggestions, none of which you had ot listen to. I'm tryign so VERY hard not to sound liek I'm yelling, but right now I want to shake some sense into you. Now, back on topic.. being that the djinn part is in concrete RP now, no, I don' think you can just rip out this part of Sire. There was mention of Sire beign a vampire? Ain't going to work with his fire. Fire destroys vampires. Do you deserve a Fa'e? Bah, of course you do. Anya entrusted Sire to you fo ra reason, there are plenty of peopel that wanted him, but she gave him to you. As for his past, there was a suggetion about getting RID of it? You can't just get RID of a past life.. That's like me.. I dunno.. saying I'm descended from a banana. (I'm in a fruity mood, bear with me). In any case, you can find something that makes htis more comfortable fo ryou. Research, research, research. It takes a lot of thought to flesh out these Fa'e, it's not somethign you can whimsy away like picking your color of underwear :3 (Though I guess osme people are really picky abou tthose thigns.. I just make certain if I'm wearing white I don't have pink undies on or something.. ) Saying you don't deserve a fa'e becaus eyou're struggling with concept isn't right.. it's just goin gto tak esom eserious thought and mapping out of plot and storyline on your part. In Response ot Brina.. 1. I completely agree. Tiring and .. well.. attention whorish. (which we all have trouble with sometimes, when it feels our Fa'e isn't gettign enough OMG attention) 2. She's righ there, too. it's that, I think, you have so much you wan tto do with Sire that you fail to DO any of it. You want to move it along, get ot the next factoid in his life.. Sometimes, it's much more interesting and has an ENORMOUS effect on a character's development if you PLAY OUT these little tidbits. That way, you and your character can work out on paper (or on screen) his reactions, his emotions towards thing.. you're not just making an assumption. And it's clear to all of us, then, too, so we can enter into these storylines, perhaps, and interact with Sire. Part of character development is the interaction side of things.. and half the time, these plots are so convoluted that there's no choice but for the other fa'e to sit on their butts and gawk at you. You'll pull out this character or that character to solve your own plot devices.. and it leaves some of us feeling like we shouldn't even bother because Character X is goign to show up adn save the day anyway. ^^; We talked a little bit about that way back when.. and you really have gotten better. But sometimes, still... eh. THat's my 2 cents. I gotta pack to head home for Bird Day. z.z Course, now i'm grumpy.. but that's not too much of a change. Oh Mouse... I'm so sorry. I never meant for it to sound like that. But it did, and you can't erase the past. Silly goose... I was JEALOUS of you. Jealousy tends to make people do dumb things - i.e. start this thread. You're a wonderful person, and I wouldn't DREAM of doing anything to upset you - which it looks like I have. I'm so sorry. I don't know how I can make it up to you. I'll try... dammit I'll try.
