That was fantastic. But I wish the statues were less toothy, and like Warnersister, I wish they had left more to your imagination. Also, what was with that bit right at the end with all those statues?

You know. The light was flickering on and off. So when it was off, larry and sally couldn't see them so they could move a little closer.
No, I get that. But the bit showing all the (I assume)real-life statues made no sense, and the bit with the flickering lights could have been done a little better. It ended up a bit comical.

At the end with the flickering lights when they were in the TARDIS, how could they still be visible? There were no other things to see them.

Because as it became see through, the statues would be able to see each other through where the TARDIS had been around them. The Doctor knew (or guessed, he's very good at guessing~) that the four would surround it. There was no point in taking Sally and her guy back in time. They were just needed to get the Tardis back to the Doctor.

That's why they were 'lonely' and had to cover their eyes. If any living thing - including another of their race - was looking at them, they turned to stone.

I found this very scary...But I can't actually hide behind my sofa because that's where we put all the stuff so it's out of the way. Oh yeah, and it's very close to the wall. It did start to get ever so slightly confusing, and why did the TARDIS leave them behind?

Actually, this story reminded me of another story I've heard. Where it was, I have no idea...
I think the angel statues sent the Doctor and Martha back in time to 1969, while the TARDIS stayed in the present-day.

No, I meant, why did the TARDIS leave Sally Sparrow and her boyfriend behind?
Maybe to stop thieves, it only takes people if the doctor is present? Or maybe the DVD triggered a certain set of actions to send the TARDIS back and leave them behind.

They were looking at each other. Therefore, they are defeated. The Doctor said something to that effect. They can't move because they're being looked at, and they can stop looking because they can't move.

They were still moving when the lights went out.
Also, why did the light stop flickering?

I think the DVD the Doctor had the ex-police man make was programmed just to send the Tardis back and not take Sally & Co.

And yes, the creatures don't kill. They let you live, send you back in time and feast on the potental energy of what would have happened in the present/future if they hadn't.

Makes me wonder what those fangs were for.

Whilst everyone's here and talking about Blink, can I reccomend you go and play the 'First Letter, Last Letter Acronym' Game in the Games/RP Subforum? Well, I just did!

They were still moving when the lights went out.
Also, why did the light stop flickering?

Firstly, they could move in the dark because no one in the room could see in the dark. And because they're so fast they can cross a room in the time it takes to blink, they used the momentry bursts of darkness to move forward.

The light started flickering because of something the creatures were doing. So when they saw eachother through the Tardis and were made stone, it stopped and came on again.

I think.

    Holy s**t.
    It was amazing.
I watched Confidential on THREE too. <3
    But.. WOAH
    What a good thing
'This is my timey wimey detector machine. It goes ding when theres stuff'
    ^_^

    A TIMEY WIMEY MACHINE
    DING WHEN THERES STUFF
TIME IS A BIG BALL OF WIGGLY TIMEY WIMEY... STUFF!

    But, Statues creep me out.
I'll never look at one in the same way again
    D:

AND, The fangs were there to be scary.
They didn't kill, but they could if they wanted to.

The tardis was sent back to teh doctor to trick the angels, who were, obviously, circling and rocking the box

The light was the ******** scariest bit. Light bulbs aren't constant, so they CAN move a tiny tiny tiny tiny bit in the light, so to push the energy towards the bulb. Graaaahhh!

And, the end. With all the statues. D:<
    O_O

I agree with -[.Moo.]-
'People assume that time is a strict proggression of cause to effect, but actually, from a non-linear, non-subjective point of view, it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly timey wimey...stuff!'
'that sentence kind of got away from me...'
Oh, and the bit with the chickens - 'They're not nice when they go boom.' Or something like that...

Eh, can't see why they'd ever really want to kill though when they live off potential energy. I supposed fangs = scary is a good enough reason to have them.

I love it when the Doctor talks technical - with his own twist on it.
Timey wimey machine~!

Yes I just watched this and the confidential too, I thought it was brilliant, really well written and very clever. And at the end where she ends up giving the doctor the stuff to make it all work.

And I thought the transcript idea was very good.

The whole thing was very wel thought out and clever.

I thought the angels were very scary, I found myself trying not to blink, almost without meaning too!!!

The flickering light-bulb part was ver ygood in my opinion, it really increased the tension and brought together the whole idea of the creatures.

All in all a brilliant episode - and correct me if i'm wrong - isn't this the guy who wrote "The empty Child" etc? I seem to remember linking the two because the writer is renowned for doing scary episodes

Simply amazing biggrin

Excellent episode! Even my Dad said so! Steven Moffat just gets better and better. Didn't think he could top The Empty Child, The Doctor Dances or The Girl In The Fireplace, but I think he's come pretty close! I didn't particularly like statues to start off with, but now...

Loving the DVD extras idea to let the Doctor communicate with Sally. And cheer the Hull references!

Confidential (directed by young Mr Tennant) was even more fascinating than it usually is when I get to watch it.

Won't be able to watch the next two weeks' episodes on first broadcast because I'll be on stage. I love tapes.

Steven Moffat wrote the story for the 2006 Doctor Who annual. There's a link to it on the website.

A brilliant episode. The monsters were brilliant, the hole idea of a monster that can only move when your not looking at them is just genius. When sally and whats his name where starring at each other and then they looked at the angel and it had huge teeth and screaming face and it was right next to them actually made me jump out of my seat, and I was lying down! It was sad how kathy and billy died though. The way that the doctor knew what sally was going to say was really smart though, and greatly explained in the end.
