Well at first Anita wanted the picket fence and all (back in book 3-4) But she realized that it wasn't going to happen with her so she should be more realistic. Richard didn't understand why she stopped being so idealistic.
Richard hates himself because he was foolish enough to get the vaccine. the only person he has to blame is himself and he can't stand to point the finger at himself so he points it to whoever brings that aspect out of him. He is trying so hard to fit into the perfect man mold that it's suffocating to himself and the others...
It's about time anita and jean-claude took proper action (in harlequinn) they were p***y footing around him for so long. Hopefully he'll grow up and start realizing what's going on.

Richard's neuroses are beginning to turn me off him, and I haven't even read Harlequin yet. rolleyes I wanna smack him every time he goes Emo on Anita and tells her how monstrous she is. Sheesh.
Jason would make a great replacement for the triumvirate, don't you think? xd

Vampire Alice I love Richard, and I hope one day he'll balance himself out. It's all Anita's fault. She should die. Then everyone will either be happy or at peace in some way. that wouldnt be possible because half the main characters would die with her....Jean Claud, Richard, Nathaniel, Damian, and......well im not sure who else but you can bet there are others.

The one big thing I hate about Richard is that he always seems to let his anger and fear come out when they need him the most. It is always when JC & Anita are fighting some big bad and need to stand together for strength that his selfish whiny behavior is always at its worst.

I used to adore Richard then he began to annoy me. Mostly because (like everyone else has stated) he hates what he is and just got really whiney at one point in the series. Lately I've been trying to like him again. It works until I read about him screwing all of his pack to find another lupa and such.
I don't blame Anita for his actions but she sure doesn't help. They are a pair of promicuous whiney babies.

The thing that gets me about Richard is that he has always wanted out of Anita what she was never truly willing to give him. And He needs to accept that. I don't know if they will ever have as strong of a relationship but I think they could be alot closer if he just accepted that Anita is who she is, if he doesn't like that then he didn't fall in love with her, he fell inlove with the idea of her.

Richard isn't that bad, honestly...but he hates everyone Anita loves...including himself, so How do you deal with that? Anita's tried, Micahs tried...jean-cluade has tried...and none of it has worked...
Richard simply doesn't want it to work..but he doesn't want to lose Anita either...so he's trapped...by some many things...and he just needs a swift kick in the butt to get him going.

Richard can be a bit of an a**, but that's part of what makes the story.
He's a great character and maybe he'll accept himself someday.

Richard does frustrate me and he does need to grow up.
I think that he loved Anita, and if they have no time apart to get over it, then the feelings will just get worse. You'll go from missing them to hating them for not feeling the same way.
Then you get to the point that the woman that you loved who had sex with someone while they were still dating, sex with someone that was almost like you, and then she's finding ways of being happy and you can feel stuck.
Richard is being childish, I won't argue with that. I know what it's like to be stuck like that, and I found my way out of it through my friends. I don't think Richard has anyone to help him out of it.
What I do believe to be Anita's fault is that her anger is more in him now than it is her, and she has other ways of dealing with it. (ex: Damian)
And as for how I can hate the main character, Anita annoys me. She always had. I could tolerate her in the beginning, especially with the action and the other cool characters in the books. But it seems like they're all going down hill, and Anita is just getting worse and worse and more emo than ever.
I read the books even though I see them decaying for the other characters: Edward, Jean-Claude, Richard, Wicked, Truth, Jason, Jamail, Loui, Rapheal, Asher, Damien, Cherry, Zane, Warren, Micah's Second (I forget his name, my bad) Zebrowski, Larry, and even Micah is growing on me.
I used to love Nathaniel, but he's losing his charm fast. I'm not saying he should be a push over again, but his cockiness is just very unattractive to me when he used to be just this sweet wonderful character.

i've always loved richard, in spite of all his many, many flaws! just like anita says in incubus dreams, "there comes a point where u just love someone.... sometimes in spite of who they are and sometimes because of who they are..."

Sigh, everytime he has a scene in a book he just serves to complicate things for everyone. I'd just rather not deal with him.
