"You are very welcome." Though it did not show in his words, he felt slightly awkward in saying it. He felt as though he should be the one thanking her. It was often that his nights passed with only his own thoughts and the chirps of crickets for company, that his days went by with him staring off into the distance and pondering nothing in particular, that he had no real purpose and was simply left wandering as a plane with no course. And now? He had a purpose.

"Yes, there is much ground to cover." His eyes flicked upon the land spreading out before them in all directions, looking upon row and row of trees that seemed to have no end, at the pointed tips of the mountains peeking above the tallest trees. All was barely visible in the night, which only added to the feeling of distance.

Shishio looked to her, and felt his own mouth curving in response to her smile. "My nights are yours to spend as you wish." He would help her until they found this brother, or until another course took lead of their lives.

She only smiled for a long moment, while pondering her words carefully in her mind. "I'd thank you again, though I have a feeling you already know how greatful I am, Shishio." she nosed his neck softly. "Any more thanks, and I may only begin to annoy you." Her smile turned into a slight, amused grin for a moment, before returning to it's old softness.

Alenazsa looked ahead again, then around. Their chances where... 1 to 100, of finding Erik that night. And yet, she wasn't worried, and,.. didn't feel like she was just, wasting this Stallion's time. In truth, she was.. more than pleased, to spend time with this male. He seemed quite.. nice. And she felt the same feeligns coming from him, like Shishio wanted to spend time with her, as well.

He smiled back, his gaze flicking away from the surroundings to rest upon her for what seemed like the millionth time that night. Ah, she was lovely to look upon, shining so in this muted light... he banished such thoughts from his mind, and yet in their place came others which amused him: a possible scene of Alenazsa's reunion with her brother- shocked faces, a stallion peering upon a mare who seems familiar and yet not so, the joy when they recognize each other, and her brother's protectiveness at finding his long-lost sister in the company of a strange stallion. Or was it only he who would die to protect another? No, there were others. There must be others.

He was brought out of his little dreamworld by her nudge.

He was all too aware of the close proximity of their bodies. She had instigated the first touch, which may or may not have been simply a kind gesture between friends. And yet could they be friends after such a short time? He glanced at her, his gaze calculating... Yes, it was possible. For if she felt the same warmth coming from him as he knew radiated from her, then they were most definintaly friends. The thought brought a smile to his lips, and joyful laughter to his eyes. He turned back to the front, his gaze falling again on the stars, his hooves moving in a steady rhythm.

"Never annoy."

[Awww! They're cute.. xDD;]

She breathed a soft, short laugh. "If you believe I couldn't annoy you... alright. But, I've been told,... I can ramble a good bit about things... and have been called annoying by a good few." Alenazsa nodded her head.

Alenazsa called a good bit. Shishio wasn't the only one that felt the oddly-quick bond of Friendship between the two. They were... much alike, yet, still different, so things weren't awkward. Now,... if they were exactly alike, things would get boring in a matter of minutes,... they'd feel the same, think the same,... wouldn't need words to talk. Oh yes, very boring indeed... as good as not talking is at times.

But, it really was odd. They'd only just met, and yet, Alenazsa felt that bond of friendship between Shishio and her. It was so strange,... and yet, it only made her smile. He was a friend of her's, a good one, at that.

[xD Yup! *being attacked by plot-bunnies* Hehee! <3]

Shishio laughed at the meer thought, the sound rich and deep as it echoed throughout the night. It was pleasing, not cutting as some laughs tended to be. As it faded away, the night seemed even more quiet, as though it was missing some key component that made it all the more wonderful. His eyes shined in amusement as his gaze turned once again to her, a smile tickling his lips even as he spoke. "Come now, who could find you annoying?" He did not doubt her words, rather doubted that anyone could be serious when they called her annoying. It would have had to be in jest. Yes, that would be acceptable...

... For if any Soquili had been serious when they called Alenazsa annoying, he would have a few words with them. It was not polite to say such things to another's face, any more than it was to think them. And already his blood was filled with a need to protect the mare beside him, to turn away those who would cause her harm, to do whatever she wished of him if it would only make her happy. He did not want to see her dreams crushed, nor her spirit broken by other's harsh words. He...

Shishio blinked, the smile still on his face. "Rambling when done by you does not seem so bad. Although silence does have a certain purity that makes it endearing, too much of such leaves the heart wanting for conversation." The stallion reassured her, his voice kind and his mood fairly light.

[Lol! -runs past the Plot Bunnies and tackles Huro- We must stop and listen to the Plot bunnies... perhaps they have good ideas ninja Pm me if you have any ideas? xD; ]

She shrugged a bit. "Different Soquili... they have come to tell me that my ramblings are annoying." She looked over at him calmly. "And, I must agree with you... at times,.. Silence is something that I cherish... usually durring the day... and yet, times like these, pure,... conversation, is just as lovely." Alenazsa looked over at him, smile flicking alittle bigger.

She turned her gaze forward. This stallion was so easy for her to talk to,... and it was odd. She very rarely warmed up to anyone so quickly! It usually took her good time for her to really trust anyone, and yet.. this male, she felt she could look away from, and he'd only fallow her gaze to see where it wandered. I don't remember feeling like that before... she though.

[ Okies. xD ]

He supressed the urge to run off and find those 'different Soquili,' and question them as to what exactly they meant by calling her annoying. Asking if they even knew what it was. Questioning their intelligence... he gave an inner sigh, and banished those thoughts. If he went running off, Alenazsa may think it was her that had chased him away, and then he could never live with himself.

The stallion peered at her out of the corner of his eye, carefully stepping over a small rock that obstructed his path. The fact that their was a seemingly endless expanse of land before them, waiting to be explored, reminded him of her brother. He would not forget that he had promised to help her find him, nor would he let any rock go unturned nor any bush unshaken in his search. But for now... he wished only to enjoy her company.

His gentle gaze traveled to the sky above once more, and his eyes rested upon a small cluster of brightly-shining stars. "Do you see? There?" He motioned with his nose, leaning in so she could follow the line of his eyes to the exact spot. "A constellation."
PostPosted: Sat Jun 09, 2007 7:06 pm

Her gaze wandered quickly in the direction he motioned to. She eyed the darkened sky for a long moment, then smiled. "Yes... it is." She breathed another laugh, then grinned softly, looking back at him, moving towards him a bit and nudging him with her shoulder softly as they walked. "Can you figure out which one it is?" She raised an eyebrow at him, coming to a stop.

Alenazsa looked back at the sky again, smiling. She loved looking at the stars,... she'd do that,.. just about every night, really. It made her think about only them, and forget the things that troubled her... cleared her mind of the negative thoughts she'd gathered durring the day. Another reason why she loved the night so.

Shishio smiled mysteriously, his movement halting as he came to a stop right by her side. His neck was curved slightly so he could see clearly around her, the wind blowing his mane and tail in her direction. He checked to see that she was watching, and then made a show of thinking.

His gaze was clearly locked upon the sky, searching the stars as though riffling through a pile of too-large papers. His face was set in concentration, still kind, though the curve of his brow and eyes were sharpened slightly. He glanced once down at her, then looked back to the stars.

Although he had long since figured out which constellation it was (in fact, he could be considered quite the master at such passtimes, as his lonely nights were spent in just those sorts of ways) he gave no sign of it until he turned to her with a look of triumph in his eyes. His smile was broad, his eyes shining.

He motioned to two prominent stars, conecting by a smaller one slightly above and in the direct center of the two. A series of four stars forming an ark that sprouted from the prominent star to the left. Then, to a cluster of three stars in a diagonal line, connecting to two a bit further down. And finally, to five stars that stuck out in an arc from the prominent star on the left.

"It is Orion, the hunter." He looked to her, pleased, his happiness or displeasure waiting upon her reaction. He was much like the young boy who took a prize he thought wonderful to the lady of his choice, his world narrowed down to the stars and her.

She smiled widely. "Well well, you're polite, generous, And smart." She teased alittle, nudging him softly on his lower jaw. "It's hard to find Stallions with that combination." She looked back at the stars, scanning them over, as if trying to just, doublecheck, to see if he was right. Though, she already knew he was.

She, apparently, much like him, would just stare at the stars for hours, leaning their names and placment, by connecting their apperence to stories she'd overheard in the over time. She started to look around for a moment, starting to search for another constellation, before giving up, turning her attention back to Shishio... for some reason, she couldn't keep her attention away for long.

Shishio could not quite restrain the pleased grin from forming on his face. Even if she was kidding around, the words (coming from her) and the nudge made him quite overjoyed indeed. He watched her as she scanned the heavens, marking the path his own eyes had taken only moments before. When her eyes faltered, turning from the stars to rest on him, he gave a gentle smile.

He felt more complete at that moment than he had ever thought possible before. For some reason, this mare, whom he had only met a little while ago, seemed to fill the void in his heart that was left by too many things gone undone. When he looked at her, he saw his reason for existance. He saw all the possibilities of the future, rolled out before him, saw all the things he had dreamt of doing now with her included.

... And if she did not feel the same?

To see her turn away, to see her reject him... he could not even imagine the pain. ... and yet not knowing...

He gently reached forwards and rested his forehead on hers, placing just enough pressure upon her delicate bones to be noticed but not enough to cause any pain. He then pulled away, his gaze intent upon her eyes. How would she react?

For a moment, she blinked, feeling his forhead pressed softly to hers. After a short moment though, after he pulled away from her, she smiled at him. Her smile was light, but probably, the sweetest it had been yet. Her eyes seemed to mimic the stars as she looked at him. This Stallion.. Shishio... he just, made her feel different, made her feel, warm inside, where it had usually been cold and empty. Made her.. Whole? Perhaps so.

Alenazsa moved alittle, and nosed his cheek softly, before dipping her head and pressing it softly against his neck, nuzzling him softly for a moment, before she too pulled away, looking at him, with the same soft smile, and the same twinkle in her eye as before.

Shishio released a breath he had not even noticed he had been holding when he saw that look in her eyes. It mirrored that in his heart so perfectly... Was it wrong to feel so happy when there were surely others out there who held no joy in their hearts? Was it wrong that he had stumbled across a mare who made him feel so... joyfull... when others searched for entire lifetimes and found only poor substitutes? If it was, he did not care... for after all, if she felt the same, why should they not be happy?

He gently placed his chin on her mane, his neck wrapped about her own in a Soquili version of a hug. He stayed like that for a few moments, feeling as though that single moment could go on forever and he would be happy... No, he would want to speak with her eventually, share experiences with her...

He pulled back, his heart in his eyes, and then turned gently to continue walking. He waited for her to follow, his gaze locked on hers as he peered behind. For her, he would wait for an eternity.

She wasted no time, coming up next to him again, nosing him softly in the neck with the side of her face while they walked.

For the moment, she stayed quiet. Though, if she were a cat... she'd be purring up a mile. Without a doubt. She nudged him softly a few times, really just for herself,... tell herself that he was actually there, that there was actually a male at her side, that her heart had taken, and mingled with.

And to think... we've only... just met. Perhaps that saying.. Phrase.. Love at First Sight,... really isn't just something that happens in myths and tales... She smiled at her thoughts, closing her eyes for a moment,... feeling the most relaxed, and most happy, she had in a long, long time, if not ever.

Shishio returned her nudge with a caress of his own, his head leaned slightly into hers. Now that the first barrier had been breached, now that it have been proven that she would not balk at any physical contact, he could not quite keep himself from touching. Oh, if she ever made even the slightest motion to indicate that she needed room, he would give her all the room she needed. He would give her anything that was in his power to give, and would try to win anything else she asked of him if he could not readily give it to her. He wanted to please, to help. He wanted to be that perfect mixture that she had been looking for in a stallion, wanted to express his love without smothering her.

The smile that now seemed to have a staying presence on his face, the soft look in his eyes, was maintained as he transfered his gaze to the sky above. The stars twinkled overhead, everlasting, a constant presence in the sky even when they were rendered invisible by the presence of the sun. He watched as they glowed.

If someone had come up to him even this morning and said that he would be in love by the rise of the sun on the dawn of the next day, he would have brushed it aside and thought no more of it. That morning, feelings such as those he was experiencing seemed untouchable. He would never have believed that he could be one to find love, would never have thought that such emotions could be stirred in such a short amount of time. If anything, he would have dismissed any feelings he had felt for any mare in anything under a week, thinking of it as nothing more but the body's lust or some form of trickery. He believed strongly in the power of aging, that as things went on and were left to brew, they would become even stronger and more potent. They would form into new things, things yet unheard of and perhaps even yet unfelt. He would not have thought that his heart could be won so easily, that his personality could find so complete a match.

But that was all before he had met Alenazsa.
