band4ever101 Aakiyana I think that men shouldn't hit women either. But women need to learn when to bak off however, because I've seen a lot of females this day and age acting towards their men any type of way just because most of them have been brought up not to hit them.
Like if you were a man, you wouldn't want a woman all up in your face, nagging, and nagging, and poking you in the face, and yelling in your face, and telling you that they dare you to hit them. Like this girl in my British Literature class that did this to a boy and they ended up fighting. He was already pissed off, and she said something to make it worse, he asked her to go away because she didn't normally sit there anyway and she kept getting in his face. He asked her to move like three more times and she got more and more in his face. He could have moved himself alos, I'm not excusing his fault in it, but then she started poking him in the face and a lot of guys I know HATE that because it seems to belittle them, so he hit her and the fight started.
If you were in that situation what would you do? There's no excuse for a man to hit a woman, but a lot of women can prevent it from hapening by just paying attention to respect, boundaries, and personal space. I know if I were that dude, I'd have her a** flat out. XD I agree when a woman takes advantage of the fact that she knows a guy won't hit her that's going to far. If I would have been that guy in your class I probably would have went off because she was acting like she WANTED him to do something..and that's crazy. But Xyloid I agree too using the "she hit me first" excuse is immature but it happens alot. Alot of guys use that as there excuse along with the "Well my dad hit my mom so it must be ok..." I don't understand that one either. I agree with Xy that hitting back is immature, but a lot of people have grown up with parents that tell them to fight back when someone threatens them and for me it's just a reaction type thing. Like if a friend playfully hits me, I instantly make a move to hit them. I don't always allow myself to follow through with the hit, but sometimes I slip up, because I'm pretty small and kinda weak, so my friends underestimate their strength and when they hit me, and it really hurts sometimes. But that also is no excuse to fight.
That last excuse "Well my dad hit my mom alot," is just ******** stupid. Just because you've watched your dad disrepect your mother by demeaning and abusing her doesn't make it right. That's like jumping off a bridge because it's what everyone else was doing.

Well, this is my opinion.
If a woman hits a man, cause he was disrespectful, he had it coming. If a woman hits a man cause she was just playing, then the man can "tap" her back. If a woman is beating a man, to were he has to defend himself, then there is a limit to what he should do. He should try to pin her down, so as to not cause too much harm. If she is attacking him with a weapon, then he may not have another option than to knock her out. If the man finds that his life is actually in danger, then there is some leniance for hitting. But if not, there shouldn't be any cause for him to hit her.
I come from a very abusive family. Mom was abused badly, along with me. I was beat exsessivly. I fought back when needed, but because of my size, it was difficult to do anything. I think that cause of all that has happened to me, I am better off. I know first hand what abuse does to people, and I would never hit a girl. It hurts more than most people think, not just physically, but emotionaly as well. So I dont think men should hit women period, exept on that RARE occation of life or death.

This answer can fit with a few only things...
I believe that a man hits a women because he fells theatened in someway.
Like, when an women stands up for something she believes in. Rather it be a genarl topic or if her husband has been cheating on her and she found out.
Men or Women don't lose it everytime or even at all. But, I believe when a person feels threatered that someone is going to leave, or maybe they are just tried of the person. There is always a motive and a reason for every action and reaction.
But, I do believe it is wrong to hit and women or a man because you should talk it out not hurt people to get them to shut up.

Well to be honest I feel nobody should be allowed to hit anyone, except in self defense. Except for in sports such as boxing, because if you participate in that you are expecting to be hit.
I also feel as though alot of you are being very sexist by saying that it is there is no excuse for a man hitting a woman. Seeing as you probably wouldn't say that for a woman hitting a man.

I know a man...who at one point in his life had the following happen:
His ex girlfreind walked in the room, and after a hard days work. he had been sick, and exhausted.
Girl: get your lazy @$$ up you never do anything around here. Guy: I'm sick. Girl: why don't you do anything Guy: (stands up to clean) jeez Girl,and Guy: (Verbally assault each other for a while until the Girl begins to attack the guy, and hits him repeatedly across the chest and face)
In his defense this honerable man waves his hands and accidentally hits this woman across the side of her head. he begins to cry and runs straight out his door. looking for a place to stay for the night..You see this man did not mean to hit the Girl. He thought this was entirely wrong in every way! This woman was horrible to him,and she got what was coming. Yes she had no pity. not from me any way.
this is a true story...that honorable man is my step father. and I believe he's the greatest even if I don't show it sometimes

She lay down on the grass, Looking up at the sky, thinking, it’s all she can do. If she disappeared she would not be missed. She will be gone just like everyone else.
Getting up from the grass, she walks on the sand, looking outward towards the sea. She walks into the water high up above her knees.

I don't know if this has been covered yet, but what about women hitting men?
Men are not the only abusers. And what about children. If you're bringing up the topic of abuse, then discuss it about anyone. Not just the superficial "men beat up women". Mothers abuse, fathers abuse, siblings abuse, grandparents abuse, peers abuse. Cover the whole topic.
That was one thing I needed to say. As for abuse, I think no one really has the right to hit another person, to get rid of their first amendment rights [as some parents do], or anything relating to that. Yet it is done anyways. I agree that self defense is necessary, if you're hit first, but only self defense. If you are hit and you bash someone's skull in, that's gone past self defense and on to abuse of the abuser. I don't like violence, yet there is so little we can do now-a-days. People hate, and that's humanity's flaw. But the world cannot be perfect, and I don't expect it to be. I think that if one is play-hitting and doing little flirty things, that doesn't allow the other person to hit back or abuse, just because of the flirting.
I'm into bondage, but only a little, yet at the same time I don't want to hurt people. I'm not a cruel violent person. But it happens, with everyone. I sometimes hit my friends, and I don't do it to cause pain. Sometimes if a friend is bugging me, or if a friend is doing something that I don't like [and continue after I tell them to stop] then I hit them. I once kicked one of my best friends in the balls because he kept on poking me non-stop. [And it wasn't a "I like you" poke. The only reason I kicked him in the balls was because I was on the ground and he was looming over me poking me. It was the only think I could do to get him to stop.] I've never been raped, and my boyfriend is a kind person [He sometimes doesn't realize what he does, but he's not an abusive boyfriend], but sometimes he doesn't know when to stop, again after I told him to stop, so I hit him enough for him to realize what he is doing.
I don't know what we may have gained or lost by my opinion, but it is just an opinion. And I wanted to show my side of the discussion.
~~~♥~~~♥ Narc Lit ♥~~~♥~~~ The waves softly hit her legs. She looks at the sunset and its yellow-red hues she walks into the sea, farther and farther, opening her arms towards the wave. The water is high up to her hips. The wave comes towards her. She looks at the wave with her arms stretched out; the water starts to rage, the wave hits her body hard. Then the water calms down. The water recedes, then darkness falls, and all goes dark. The sun goes down and the day is done.
Yes she had no pity. not from me any way. this is a true story...that honorable man is my step father. and I believe he's the greatest even if I don't show it sometimes Thanks for sharing your story yougurtkiller. I think what you said does show alot of honor in your stepfather. And these situations do come up. The fact that she started yelling and hitting him without even giving him a chance to explain clearly how sick he was was wrong of her. To also cover what was brought up by Narcissistic Literature. When women hit men that is just as bad as men who hit women. It goes to the story that yougurtkiller shared. Women can fly off the handle...and sometimes when they do...that's what causes men to hit them. We all have our driving points. Everyone does abuse. It's not just a man thing. We see women alot on the news who kill there unwanted babies..but I digress from that that's a totally different topic. Women and men beat their children for some unknown reason or traumatic event that leads back to their past. The point is people take their anger out on other people. I've only been hit one time by a man...and I didn't defend myself when I could have. I'm what you would consider a weak person..I don't know how to fight...even enough to defend myself if need be. But yes, everyone makes the mistake, not just men. If I made that assumption by the title of this topic I appoligize. I'm discussing abuse in general...it just started with men hitting women. <3
Either way is foolish, but if it was out of self defense in any way then it would be understandable.
I am with you... Except that if a woman hits him first he should call the police for he is probably much stronger than her and if he hit her he would get in more trouble
Well, I don't understand what your asking here...But yeah, if a woman hits a man, then the man can hit her back...But then again, it all depends on whether she apologizes or not.
You shouldn't hit back, no matter what. Whether you are a girl or a boy. If it's a punch or many blows, than you have all rights to fight back. If it's only one wack on the face, than ignore it. Defense is only when you need to keep yourself from getting hurt badly.
unless its in self defense, i dont think people should hurt anyone just last night my dad slapped my sisters and i tryed to stop him because thats not right. its the reason my mom left my dad, because abuse doesent help problems, it only makes them worse. its horrible to think that its adults that do this, since they're one who set examples for kids, and who above all should KNOW BETTER than to do things like that. physical violence of any kind should not be tolerated. not only does it hurt physically, being hurt by someone who should be protected from such things can be very hurtful to one's mental stabilty. i hate my dad for all the things he's done to my mom, and honestly, because of his abuse i hate being around adult guys because i've seen what my dad has done. if someone i should trust something like that, why cant someone i dont even know.
