"I can show you out," with a tone so flat, it was impossible to tell how the mutant felt. Fiercely territorial, he would be the last one to permit anyone to become familiar with his terrain, a male especially. That being said, the stallion appeared to have answered him honestly and in doing so he would be spared. Had he decided to portray himself as something he wasn't then the mutant would have reacted very poorly indeed.

"Unfortunately, one you reach the borders I will be uncertain as to where else to point you," flicking his whip like tail, the mutant drifted passed the stallion and began to move towards another set of trees and what appeared to be a fresh pathway (no doubt one he had made). From the look of the young stallion he wasn't a desert dweller so perhaps...leading him to the more pleasurable regions of the mountains would be wiser? If anything, the stallion could use the height as a vantage point to find his way home.

...if he was smart enough.

"I doubt you are a desert dweller, so we shall go this way..."

He'd show him out? That was nice in a way but he was really hoping he'd be able to see more to avoid getting lost here again. He opened his mouth to protest but quickly closed it with a snap realizing how much of a bad idea that would be. He wasn't dead and while the other was still looking as though he might kill something it didn't seem to be directed at him anymore. Maybe that was just his usual expression though?

Ayden let out a small sigh and trailed after the other stallion unsure what he should be doing. "Desert dweller?" He paused and looked behind him more then a bit curious. He didn't know that there was a desert. What was it like? He had to know. "Actually, I am." He said doing his best to sound convincing. This was a risk and he knew it. What was the worst that would happen? He could leave Ayden to wander about for the rest of his days or he could lead him to some dark hole in the ground and leave him there til he was too weak to do anything or he could kill him on the spot. Somehow his idea didn't sound so pleasant any more.

The mutant paused in his tracks and turned his gaze towards the stallion with the slightest shift of his head. His movements were almost like water, subtle and fluid to the point that he required little effort to indicate his intentions. They often said that the eyes were the windows to the soul and a mere look spoke volumes - by the expression on the mutant's face it was clear he wasn't persuaded.

Nevertheless...

It was with a small nod that the mutant shifted his direction and began to walk east, his back to the high winds and bitter rain that continued to lash against his thick pelt. Glad of his mountain coat and the odd rags that invaded his form, he was not about to dispute their aid in the given climates even if they did not benefit him in terms of social appearance and status.

If the stallion wanted to die at the hands of the harsh climates within the desert then the mutant would permit it. Provided he was off his territory he would no longer be the responsibility of this beast...especially after he had given his final warning in relation to the location.

There it was. That look. It was the one that screamed 'you're lying and I know it'. It scared the s**t out of him and for a brief moment he was afraid he was about to be skinned alive. He gulped and squeezed his eyes shut waiting for the blow but all he got was a cold blast of rain in his face. He sneezed and opened his eyes peering around curiously. His guide had vanished from view.

He gasped and whipped around wildly trying to find his guide. He finally found the dark stallion heading the opposite direction. "So the de...my home's this way?" He asked turning about. Maybe if he kept up the act the other would start to believe him then once he saw the desert he could say that he didn't really live there. Then he could get skinned alive after seeing the desert. The saying 'curiosity killed the cat' was now running through his mind almost constantly.

"Yes," The mutant responded simply, mentally questioning his own integrity as he led the stranger to what could only be described as his inevitable death. A part of him deeply disapproved of the action but another had long since grown tired of constant intrusions on his territory and deemed it a necessary evil. He had offered to lead the stranger out into more favourable territories and had otherwise been asked to take him to more hostile territories.

...Who was he to refuse the request?

"We should see it in a few moments," He continued, flicking his whip like tail against his flank as he negotiated the undergrowth and navigated his way down hidden pathways. It wasn't long before the rains began to subside and in their place, rather powerful rays of light battered the senses. While there was a light breeze upon the face, it was clear from the heat contained within it that it wasn't always there and nor did it provide much use.

Coming to a halt, the amber eyes shifted towards the endless sand dunes that lay before him and then returned to the skulking figure of the stallion who seemed to trail after him at a somewhat slower pace (perhaps it was just the mutant's long stride though).

"I do hope you are prepared for your trek home...the lack of water in such territory makes such a place even less favourable, even for the likes of me."

As the warmth of the sun covered him Ayden shuddered. He was colder then he had imagined after walking around in the rain and shade for so long. The sun felt wonderful as it began to remove the layers of water but as it started to heat his pitch black coat the loathing began. He had just opened his mouth to ask how far they were from the desert when his guide stopped. They were there.

Excited he lifted his head and peered around the winged one only to see wave open wave of golden sand. His eyes widened and he stepped out from behind the back stallion taking a few tentative steps closer to the sands start. There were no trees, no shade from rocks and no water anywhere in site. What kind of hell hole had he asked to be led to?

He whipped around wildly to protest with wide eyes. "No! I'm not...I uh...I...water need and shade!" He gulped peering over his shoulder. This was death one way or another. He sighed and turned around letting his head droop completely giving up his act. "Maybe the sand likes horse meat..." He grumbled trudging forward with a sad flick of the tail.

"A word of advice," Azumoth's voice held a hint of amusement in it as he watched the younger stallion struggle to maintain his façade, it didn't last (as the mutant) had expected. No sooner had they reached the border that the stallion realised the severity of the situation - regardless of this he chose to judge purely on appearances and first impressions.

Shame.

"If an individual offers their aid in returning you to more pleasant climates, do not toy with them." Flicking his whip like tail against his flank, he released a small chuckle and kept his amber eyes focused upon Ayden until his better judgement won the battle against his more questionable side.

"Would you prefer I take you back to more pleasant climates?"

Ayden turned his head to face his guide with watery eyes. He nodded slowly and began making his way back to the leathery winged stallion looking like a scolded foal. "Please..."He said begging with his eyes and voice. He had expected him to be extremely angry and vicious when he found out but instead he was being rather charitable. He was almost positive that there was a catch but he didn't care right now. "I...I just wanted to see the desert..."

He glanced up at the other trying to meet his amber eyes to give him the most pathetic 'I'm sorry' look he could muster. He didn't want to be left to the desert and he was willing to do just about anything to live. Getting a guide to his home meant he was even more willing then usual.

"Lesson learnt, I expect."

With that the stallion did not choose to return to the forest but instead proceeded to walk along the borders in a manner that the stallion would be able to trace. If one day, Ayden should choose to visit the desert again he would be able to use this safe route to do so - without fear of disturbing the mutant in the process which was always a bonus!

He was not a very good parental unit, had failed miserably when raising two surrogate foals and therefore had little intention of instructing this stallion. But, deep within him there were still instincts to protect as he suspected (in some perverted manner) he had inherited from his mother.

Nevertheless, continuing to follow the line of the forest it wasn't long before the familiar line of the Kawani mountains could be seen - the snow and fog covered peaks as well as the green lands that steadily began to rush down into the lowlands.

...He'd always craved to visit them, but had never done so.

"Do you recognise?"

Ayden nodded feeling very much like the fool. He had played the part a bit too well so it seemed only right, in his eyes, that he feel bad now.

He was silent the entire journey back simply watching as the scenery passed. He didn't want to give the oddly kind demon any reson to abandon him on the side of a mountain. After a while he began to see familiar sights in the far distances. The sea of grass where he had played with Zhenga, the light reflecting off of the surface of the lake and just below the light he could just make out a large cluster of teepees.

He grinned and whinnied loudly pawing at the ground excitedly. "It's home!" He cried nor realizing he had even been asked. "I'm home!!!"

He figured, lowland soquili were particularly easy to spot and it was with a faint smile that the Mutant gave a nod. Lesson learnt and the stallion had been shown his way home...perhaps now he would be more careful in the directions he chose to explore. Even so, with little to no sound the mutant turned around while the stallion was distracted and drifted back into the trees and the shadows they provided.

Apparently, looks could be deceiving and while this particular stallion could lose his temper on occasions that didn't mean he automatically devoured the unfortunate soquili. No, such horrors were reserved for another time of year...A time of year when others would choose to avoid his territory not by choice but by coercion. Other times, such as these were simply luck of the draw.

Ayden had given him the chase his blood craved but discipline (and a slight jest on Ayden's part) had quickly brought the mutant to earth again...

Ayden began to stumble down the mountain side like a storm not even attempting to keep quiet. He was so close he felt he could smell it. As he stumbled over what could be consider a small boulder he was forced to stop and look around or else slide down the mountain. As he glanced over his shoulder he realized that the winged stallion was no longer with him.

He turned himself about and scanned the area for the bright cloak that may give him away. Nothing. He sighed and turned to make his way back to his home. "I didn't even catch his name..."He mumbled ears folding back as he pouted. He had met few but he had always managed to get their names. Did he really hate Ayden that much? "Thanks anyway!!!" He cried over his shoulder hoping his words wouldn't be swallowed by the trees. Just because he had left without a word didn't mean Ayden had an excuse to be rude in return.

Giving his tail a flick he stepped around the large rock setting his sights on the teepees. If he hadn't been missing for so long he would have gone back to thank the stallion in person and get a name but his mother was probably waiting. There was no point scaring her any further. He'd just have to wait for another day when there paths might cross.
