Ever suddenly felt the need to get up and stalk back to the teepee to give that wind a piece of her mind. Her blue eyes were aflame with rage that that paint had done to her mate, past and present. She made as though to get up, furious and ready to kick someone back to the stoneage.
She pushed herself up onto her hooves, barely hearing his question. "He flaunted that you would leave me. Called me grounded. Said the children would be a disgrace. Said you and he had a long past. He taunted, mocked." She flicked her tail angrily as she stomped towards where that wind would be, not thinking of the consequences.

 Tawali jumped to his hooves, racing around to face her, standing tall, his own eyes sparking with fury at the medicine hat's nerve. He pushed his muzzle to her's, a placating motion.
"Ever, no." His voice was soft and eyes calming. "'E's no' worth it." Tawali looked at her imploringly, apology reigning in his features. "'E says these thin's te get a reaction. Even when 'e ain't 'ere, 'e affects us." Tawali shook his head and looked away a moment, eyes marred in a frown yet again. "Ye can't let 'im know 'e's upset ye. Tha' one... tha' one will use it against ye." He looked up at her, a small smile replacing the frown. "An' wha' would ye Flutter frien' say if ye go over there all excitable?" He chuckled a little, the sound perhaps a bit forced, but a positive sound none the less. "Come Ever, if'n ye up te it, le's go for a slow walk da'hn the river."

She snorted loudly and suddenly found her mate blocking her path. Her emotions changed just as quickly and large tears welled up in her eyes. She hated that wind so much. Hated everything that he had put Tawali through and dreaded what he was going to put her through. She knew that this was going to be a difficult time. And their children!
She buried her head against his tan neck, shaking with tears falling down her cheeks. Her emotions were flipping around in so many degrees. "He said you'd leave me," she cried loudly. That was all her mind was running on.
She heard him faintly say something about a walk. Yes, a walk would be good. She didn't know she had said so, barely distinguishing her own words from her thoughts.

Tawali smiled sadly, nuzzling his face against her side, her neck, her mane, anywhere he could reach while she cried. He backed up a little to look at her, the soft smile still tugging at his features as he pressed his muzzle to her's and whickered softly.
"Ah won' leave ye, Ever, no'h unless ye as'ed o' i'h. Ah love ye, an' Ah can' live if'n ye're no'h wit' me." Nudging her gently with his nose, placing a calming wing on the rounded belly carrying his young, he faced her north, back to the teepee and the gap in the mountains. "Come. Ah'll take ye 'ome. Make sure ye ge'h there safe an' soun'. Two-leg wou' kill meh if'n Ah lef' ye, as wou' tha' flutter!" He took a few steps ahead, leaving the safety of the willow's boughs. He looked over his shoulder at her, and smiled reasurringly, motioning with his head for her to follow him.
