He let his wing fall over her gently as he listened. "I see...My family is quite small. A little sister and slightly younger brother. I was born in the desert oasis my father calls home. I wander whenever I please, but I always come back home. Now that my brother has found a mate, it will be a matter of time before he seeks out on his own. I have no intentions of doing so. I just want to stay home and keep my family safe..." He trailed off gently and looked down at her. Why do these words not stop flowing from my mouth? I swear, you're more than a Goddess...

"A desert oasis, hmm? That sounds nice..." Songstress smiled. "There's not much to say about me... I'm sorry to dissappoint you Halo..."
She coughed and turned her head away, searching the lands to distract herself from staring at the charming prince at her side. Anything would be better than staring at him like an idiot... Right?

"No, not a disappointment. Never." He murmured softly, letting his muzzle trail to her head. He purred gently into her ear, letting his lip touch the flakes and the tip of her ear gently. "If you want, I can take you there, Songstress..." Halo whispered into her ear gently. His wing tightened a little around her pulling her close to him. "I'll take you wherever you want to go, M'Lady..." His eyes became slightly hazy as all he saw was her and nothing else.

Songstress giggled and ducked her head, purring when he pulled her close. She nosed his cheek and purred softly.
"I would love to visit there, with you." She said softly, purring eagerly. "I'd like to go anywhere you wanted to go..."
'As long as you're there...'

Halo gave her a gentle smile before staring up into the sky. Having this lioness with him...it seemed to real. Too good to be true. His heart never felt this light at all, even when he was flying which was one of his greatest joys. Absently, he lifted his wing a bit to stare at her wing markings upon her back. Did she ever want to fly? Clearing his throat, he stopped for a moment and stared at her. "Now...I'm not sure how this is going to work, but M'Lady Songstress...would...if you were ever given the chance to fly...would you take it?" He asked softly, his wing resting upon her back again.

Tessa's heart sank a bit as she listened to his question.. The dreaded question... Few ever asked her that, and fewer still once they had seen how it hurt her... Hurt her to think that she bore the markings but not the joy of them... Did she want to fly? Oh how she longed for it! To soar truly would be the greatest gift any could give her... She wanted it more than anything... More than everything...
Well, everything, perhaps, but this male at her side.
The thought made her blush even as she ducked her head to hide her sad eyes... Everytime someone asked her that question it felt like they were reaching into her chest and squeezing at her heart, but she could not deny this male the truth.
"I would dearly love to fly." She said softly, heart keening as her eyes watered. "I have wanted it -more than anything- for much of my life..."
She smiled and looked up at him as tears spilled down her cheeks. "Silly, isn't it? That a normal lioness like me would want to soar like an angel?"

His eye's widened as he saw the tears. "Oh! M'Lady, I'm dreadfully sorry. I have hurt you..." His heart felt a stab of her pain as he stared into her eyes, full of shedding tears. Lowering his muzzle, he nosed her cheeks gently. "Lady Songstress...please let me pay my debts. Close your eyes." He whispered to her, licking the tears from her eyes. He nuzzled against her close. "It's not a foolish dream. Everyone can dream, Lady Songstress. To fly is a joy...I'm sure, if given the chance, you will love it..." He gave her a soft purr. "Close your eyes, please, Lady Songstress. Close them tightly, and don't open until I tell you to."

Songstress turned away, purring softly when he licked her cheek. She felt like a fool, to let him see her heartache.. It was her private pain, something she rarely spoke of... Not since she and Dancer were cubs and had privately confessed they so longed to fly.. And even then her need for it had been greater than Dancer's...
"It is not you, Halo... You are kinder than any I have known, in a long time..." She gave him a slight smile. "If you will...."
She drew a deep breath and sighed, ducking her head only slightly. For some reason she trusted this male, trusted him enough to close her eyes and believe whatever he told her... To tell him of her dearest wish, that was foolish enough... But to feel like she was falling in love with him on the spot...
Well.. There were rarely words for such foolishness... And at the same time, she didn't think it was foolish... She was in love with this stranger.. This Halo of Whispers in the Dark, this Prince of Angels...

Halo smiled to her gently. He wanted to make Songstress's dream come true. But...could he? Taking a deep breath, he removed his wing from her back. "Don't move, Lady Songstress." Slinking under her frame, he then stood up on all fours, the lioness on his back.
Gritting his teeth, he extended his wings, going for a full fledge sprint. As he ran, he flapped his wings harder and harder. "Hang on!" He called to her. Halo then crouched low and sprang to the air with all of his might, wings pumping madly for current. At that moment, it looked about they were about to fall, but the winds came and seemed to carry Halo into the air. Flapping, he went up as high as he could stand then went into a steady glide. "Songstress..." He whispered. "You can open your eyes now."

Tessa squeeked when he appeared under her, gently wrapping her forepaws about his neck and burying her face into the thick, silken waves of his mane. The scent of him was like a soothing blanket, and with his silken wings brushing her sides, she contemplated for half a moment what it would be like to wake up next to this male. What it would be like to curl against his side to sleep at night...
As he leapt into a run she squeeked again, closing her eyes tighter and gripping his chest and mane with her paws, burying her face even more until she brushed against his neck. Hang on?! Like she needed to be told twice!
"What are doooing?" She squeeled as his wings flapped and she had the distinctive impression there was nothing under them but air. When he told her to open her eyes, she fought her fear a moment before cracking open an eyelid.
What she saw made her gasp with delight. The whole of the land spread beneath them like a miniature scape, like a game cubs would carve into the dirt and grass... But real! And, oh how sweet the wind was...
"Oh Halo! It's beautiful." She whispered into his ear, sighing. "Oh thank you...."

Halo gave a gentle chuff. "You are welcome, Goddess. Anything you want, I shall do my hardest to get for you..." His wings flapped a little, the wind brushing against their bodies. It felt good to have her against him. Her warm body seemed to make him shiver all over. Slightly, he smirked. "Hang on, Songstress." Holding his wings tightly to his back, they suddenly began to plummet to the ground. Halo never took his eyes off the landscape. At what seemed to be the last moments, he snapped open his wings, legs tucked to his body as they soared over the ground.
Quickly, they came to the lake. The water rushed from under them as Halo pulled up a little, their tail flakes touching the surface of the lake. He rose higher and higher up into the air, passing whisps of clouds as they went by. Halo then levelled off at a good spot, the clouds plentiful around them. "Are you alright, Songstress?" He chuckled gently. "Hopefully that little trick didn't kill her.

"Call me Tessa, or at least Songstress... I'm no Goddess." She murmured in his ear, trying to be grumpy so she didn't gasp like an excited kit at every change in the scenery. "And I thank you for your offer, Halo... But this is more than... No one has ever..."
She sighed. "Oh thank you so much..."
Hang on? Now what was he going to do? Opening her mouth to ask what he had planned, she squeeked as he tucked his wings and gripped him with her paws yet again, yipping in fright.
When he unfurled his wings with a snap she could have fainted with giddy relief, laughing softly when he soared over the lake and splashing the surface with her tailfeathers. So this is what it was like? To be beloved of the wind? To dance on the breeze... How any angel could give this life up was beyond her, oh how she wished she could be like him!
"You are absolutely the most insanely wonderful male I have ever met..." She muttered in his ear. "And I'm quite certain I would wring your neck if I didn't like you so much."

"Do whatever you want to me, Songstress. I'm at your will." He said gently. He then dived again doing a few loops and corkscrews through the clouds. After a moment, he did nothing but glide letting her enjoy the scenery once more.
Letting his thoughts wander, Halo couldn't help to think that if he could, he would fly forever with Songstress upon his back. And if he could, he would have given her his wings. He'd give up anything to amke her happy. He felt like she was part of him now that they had shared something she so deeply needed. Halo feared that once he landed, he would never see this Goddess,...no,his Goddess again...

She smiled and purred at his words, resting her cheek against his and clinging to him as he performed is whirl-wind acrabatics, gazing at the lands she had lived in but never truly seen... This male.. This wonderful, wild, winged male. His flights awed and terrified her, his words entranced and excited her... He made her heart soar and her body shiver.
"I would ask you to stay with me..." She said softly, purring in his ear... 'Always'
The last word remained unsaid, but rang in her voice nevertheless... She was quite sure he had heard, and flushed... This was too soon, wasn't it? Too much... Love? Now... What else could it be?
"I would ask the skies that I could fly with you..."

Halo smiled gently. She wanted to stay with him! Heart thudding hard against his chest, he tried to keep his suave and coolness under control. "Songstress...if I could, I would give you my wings..." He murmured gently. "I would ask the stars and heavens for a trade. All to make you happy." Slowly, he glided down toward the ground. The angelic was growing slightly tired; he needed rest.
Settling upon a grassy hill, he let himself go on his belly to rest. His tired wings went toward his side as he looked over his shoulder at the lioness. "Did you enjoy yourself?" He asked her gently. She seemed so beautiful to him. He never wanted to make her sad. "That was a thank you for singing to me. I really do enjoy your voice and song as well as your company, Songstress." He tried to stare into her eyes. "Ask what you will of me and it will be done."
