`Stigmata
Hmmm.. This is like asking me if I'd rather smoke a joint or a bowl...

I'll have to say,

Buckethead- I really enjoy his insane guitar playing. The man is a genius in his time. Plus, he is really mysterius about his performances. He doesn't want people to enjoy him for him, he wants them to just love his music.

Sublime- Just because, their damn ******** amazing when your stoned. And so very mellow.

I think thats all I'll go into for now, but I may come back with the rest of my favorite s**t.

I just feel the need to expand onto mine now.

Id like to add:

The Fall of Troy- Listen to them, their guitar and bass are crazy. I really like music with amazing guitar playing like this.

Mindless Self Indulgence- It's the only techno-ish band I hae ever liked. Mainly the lyrics and vocals. I also really like amzingly well done vocals.

GWAR- ....Well... Their just damn entertaining.

Dir en Grey- Really weird J-rock. Very trippy. Freaky a** music videos.

Miyavi- Another J-rocker. Amazing voice and guitar skills. He is love! heart

Sublime- Stoned or not I LOVE them. Favorite band, no question.

-favorite songs:
    -Jailhouse
    -Greatest Hits
    -Don't Push

The Strokes- Again, stoned or not I love their sound, the guitar is light and happy and then Julian's voice is sleepy and nice. I like the contrast.

-favorite songs:
    -Under Control
    -Razorblade
    -Ize of the World
    -12:51

Pixies- G/B/P mainly, I actually figured out that I liked them one time when I wasn't stoned but I generally like them better when I am.

-favorite songs:
    -Mr.Grieves
    -Debaser
    -Hey

Nirvana- I know it's like insanely cliche to like them but I don't care. I think I like them more when I'm stoned? I'm not sure.....

-favorite songs:
    -On a Plain
    -Radio Friendly Unit Shifter
    -Drain You

And the rest:

    -Cradle of Filth
    -A Perfect Circle
    -The Distillers
    -Bright Eyes
    -RHCP
    -Bob Marley
    -The Beatles
    -Alice in Chains
    -Brand New
    -Phish

There's still more.....

I am more into Metal but also into some side genres like Electro, Techno, Rock 'n' Roll, some Hip Hop, Punk...

My favorites in Rock and Metal:
Strapping young Lad. Rolling Stones (the older stuff) and Monster Magnet

Hip Hop:
Cypress Hill. Puppetmastaz (yay for Snuggles)

and Punk...

...I don't know...

...damn, it is Sunday and I want my Tuesdaysbag NOW!
PostPosted: Tue Jun 12, 2007 11:55 am

Alright, I figured this would be a good time to make my post, because I dunno I've had some time to really think about it. Right now, I'm really into Pop-punk(Think The Ramones, Groovie Ghoulies, The Queers, Screeching Weasel), Garage Rock (I.E. The Rip Offs, The Mummies, Awesome Snakes), Ska (The Cat Empire, The Aquabats, Bomb the Music Industry, Leningrad), a little Post-Rock too for when I'm unbelievably stoned(People For Audio, Tortoise, Do Make Say Think, Lunar), And to round it out the usual Indie lineup(Dinosaur Jr., Pavement, The Decemberists, Apollo Up! Super Furry Animals, Tom Waits).

My Favorite Genre over all, Pop-Punk/Punk. The urge to just ******** around and/or party speaks to me. How couldn't it? And the nihilism helps. I could argue for days about the greatness of The Ramones, but god help me if you like The Sex Pistols. I hold a fairly tight knit stance on not bashing the opinions of others, but The Sex Pistols ******** suck, Sid Vicious wasn't fit to lick Joey Ramone's boots.

Favorite bands of this Genre are as follows!

-Jawbreaker
-Groovie Ghoulies(listen to a record like Go Stories and try to disagree.)
-The Lillingtons
-Guitar Wolf
-The Clash

My Favorite Artist, Would have to be (at the moment),

The Mummies, the combo of D.I.Y spirit, creating the concept of Budget Rock, and just how ******** awesome they sound won me over double quick.

And Favorite song has to be,

Big in Japan, by Tom Waits. It's on Mule Variations, if you're interested. The lyrics and the rough uncut sound just kick my a**, essentially it's a song about not really having everything (got the the dog, but not the bun, got the powder, but not the gun, etc) but being satisfied with what you do have, this case it's being big in japan. Great song.

DAMN! not much rap going on in high minds.

Artists: Ice Cube, RATM, Snoop Dogg, Jay-Z, Nas, Outkast, Shyne, Wu Tang, NWA(Dr Dre and Eazy E's solo s**t too), Twista, MC Eiht, Geto Boys, Eminem, Beastie Boys, Rick Ross, Too $hort, Del tha Funkee Homosapian.

Producers: Kanye West, DJ Premier, Dr. Dre, Diddy(or whatever the ******** he's calling himself these days)

Favorite artist: Notorious B.I.G.

Listen to Notorious Thugs by Notorious B.I.G. Biggie's my favorite artist because the words he's rhyming with are bigger than the rest of the lyrics. I.E.

"Armed and Dangerous
Ain't too many can Bang wit us
straight up weed, no angel dust
label us
notorious"

"High off weed and lots of gin
so much smoke need oxygen
steadily countin' them benjamins"

From Notorious Thugs.

Listen to Notorious Thugs, then listen to some ICP or some s**t. Quality rap has three and four syllable rhymes. ICP struggles to rhyme "car" with "bar". If their s**t even rhymes.

MF Doom is good. I'd put him pretty far up the totem pole lyrically. I loved DangerDoom. But I have to admit, when I listen to rap, I like hearing a larger-than-life figure, you know? MF Doom is all about people concentrating on his music, and I respect that, but I think it's a total package of a cultivated badass image, and the lyrical ability to back it up. That's why Biggie's my favorite rapper. He's got that big New York sound, and he's this big, scary, thug lookin dude, always talking about being this big mac daddy player, this gun-totin ready to die thug, and this mafiaso cocaine kingpin. It's a total package of entertainment, ya know? Don't get me wrong though, I do think B.I.G. is the greatest rapper to kiss the mic.

Not really, no... I've got a snarky response about that, but I hate seeming like I think less of people based on the music they listen to... rap is just such an easy target! XD

*SNARF* I worked for most of a year at a comic book store some years back. I can't take any band seriously if they have to resort to packaging CDs with comic books in the guise of 'collectibles' in order to move records. And the half-dozen kids who came in to buy every issue were the most stereotypical idiot emo-goth suburban kids you can imagine -- complete with the allowance money to afford to be dropping the eight bucks per comic (most comics are were two or three, maybe four dollars, in 2001). Abbey Road ftw. I've had 'You Never Give Me Your Money' running through my head for three days, though... starting to get a little repetitive. o_O;

Just the Airplane? Not any of the J Starship cuts?

I'll try to hold back the Meg-White-can't-drum jokes -- the gods only know, I can't drum either! Are they still current? Jack's got the Raconteurs going on, but I don't remember hearing he and Meg went on the rocks or anything...

LOL Technically, his pieces are nerdly appealing, but listening to more than 10-second snippets gets pretty trying, that's for sure.

Out of curiosity, since you mentioned the Beatles, too, did you ever listen to Paul's classical attempt, 'Standing Stone'?

Judas Priest!

I was iffy about it until I heard of the 16 minute long song about the Lochness Monster. Oh Judas Priest how I do love your nerdyness. xd

Steve Vai

Having attempted to learn to play guitar I have quite an appreciation for his music now....

Pink Floyd

No words.

Then there's other random songs that just brighten up my day. The Logical Song by Supertramp, The cat with two heads by Aquabats, and With God on our Side by various artists (originally Bob Dylan?)

I like a little Beatles...

and then there's another song I REALLY love but I don't know the name of it or who sings it so I have to wait for the damned commercial to come on again...

I don't on either count, but the CD is handily on my shelf and can be ripped in two shakes -- and I'll upload to yousendit.com, you should be able to download it no problem... do you have iTunes, by the way (that is, do you need it as an *.m4a or an *.mp3 file)?

Hehe, true that... as for Snoop... ech, I remember a story in the paper... several months ago, actually. I skimmed it, so I can say it had to do with recording again, but it caught my attention because a friend of mine used to run in the same crowd, though she only met him once -- so I pulled it out to send to her.
