She snorted once more, golden eyes narrowing. "It seems as if this stallion of yours has absolutely no respect for how much it takes for a mare to keep up appearances. Saying that you'd look better rounded? Does that mean he doesn't appreciate your appearance as it is now? Don't listen to him, darling. I think your lovely just as you are."
She pawed at the ground, trying to imagine this stallion and what would cause him to say such a thing out loud. "I would give this stallion a piece of my mind, Azariel. No stallion should ever feel as if he has the power to force you into such a decision at the price of a friendship, if you are nothing more than that. The nerve!"
Her own anger dissolved slightly as she pondered the other mare's words. "I believe he says it because he can. Were I do be more adamant about correcting him perhaps he would cease."

Azariel shrugged and sighed, "I think it's more of where he comes from than anything else," She admitted, "He is not the most eloquent stallion and more then half the time I think he's just there because he wants to get me in a rage--which almost happens often enough for him to keep coming back--and laugh at me before soothing me."
She chuffed loudly and shook her head at herself, she did allow herself to be soothed by him, but in her defense, it was only sometimes. Indeed, she was so wrapped up in her thoughts that she almost didn't catch Katarina's compliment, "Thank you, Kat," she managed, giving her a smile.
"I have given him a piece of my mind, more than once as a matter of fact. He just doesn't seem to listen at all. To tell you the truth..." She glanced at the other mare, "I don't see why he keeps around me as much as he does. I'm pretty sure that everytime we've spoken to each other, we've had at least one fight."
"You can correct him or you can ignore it. Stallions have a tendency to like irking those they like, take it for me," A brief grin, "So if correcting him doesn't work, you can always ignore him whenever he calls you that, sometimes that works." She was unused to giving advice, but there was no harm in suggesting something like this.

"It sounds to me as if this stallion of yours is either stupid, which is quite probable, or he sees you as something more than just a mare that he is on friendly terms with." She nickered softly, smile curving the features of her face. "I believe that the question you must, in turn, ask yourself then is whether or not you would like him to remain such... And, if so, whether you are willing to make these drastic changes for him or whether he will be willing to make some sort of compromise."
She snorted softly, laughing as she shook her head. "I have given up on correcting him. He is a male of his own mind... Or out of it, perhaps. Either way, you are correct, there is no point in insisting he call me something else when I know well he won't no matter what is said."

"He's not stupid, I can assure you," She insisted hastily, "He's just...the type who is too straightforward for his own good."
She sighed and shrugged, shaking her head, "We have never been friends, as far as I can think of," She mused softly, "Fight, fight, fight, make-up and fight again. That's what everything's been like." She shrugged again, "I don't know, something about him just...irks me, but, if this makes any sense at all, not in a bad way."
She snorted, "I am not changing myself, especially not to meet his ideals, whether or not he compromises, is entirely his choice." She meant it, she wasn't about to change to fit another's mold.
Az chuckled, "In his mind or out, he sounds like someone who's not that bad, if you aren't ticked off at him yet," she added the last bit a tad hastily, always watching her steps with the white and purple-striped mare. She let another sigh bubble past her, "Stallions are such fickle creatures," She rumbled, "Honestly, they're worse than any mares!"

"Good. At least you know where you stand on the issue. Perhaps now would be a good time to find out where he stands?" Her brow lofted slightly as she gazed at the other mare. "Often a good argument between not-quite-friends is the spice of life. Just make sure he knows for certain where you stand."
She took her own turn to sigh softly, feeling almost as if she should be waxing poetic or something silly like that. She let her lashes flutter in a dreamy fashion before laughing. "That they are, my dear. Far worse than mares could ever be. We at least know up from down... Which is why we tend to keep them in line, isn't it?"

Azariel nodded once, "That would be a nice tidbit of information, wouldn't it?" She asked sardonically, mentally reminding herself to remember to do such a thing. Perhaps they could get somewhere in the relationship if anything actually progressed.
"I'm quite sure he knows where I stand one plenty of issues, and I know his. Perhaps we should just define those lines more. It would be good to know where to-and where not to-step." She mused aloud, thinking to herself.
"We keep them in line much more than they ever let on, or that we would really admit." She sighed dramatically, "It really is quite a pain to deal with them on a regular basis. They have such egos and they expect we mares to feed them. What about us, eh?" She snorted and laughed softly, "I think they should learn a lesson or five, what about you?"

She nodded slowly. "Yes, it might help to have those lines defined if not bolded. If there is to be anything special between you and this stallion, it would definately help." She chuckled, letting her tail flicker lightly behind her.
"The key is to let them think that they are in control while keeping them wrapped around your hoof." She grinned, golden eyes gleaming. "Perhaps it is time you seek out this stallion of yours to begin his training? Teach him one of those five lessons?"

Azariel held her tongue on the emphasis of words, not wanting to say anything and make the situation more embarrassing for herself. She was a private creature...though every once in a while she became a bit of a blabbermouth.
She snorted softly and shrugged, "I'd rather any relationship I have be a partnership, but there's no harm in 'training' him a bit, is there?" She laughed softly, wondering how she would be able to "train" Caelen. Thinking about it....she could always threaten something.
She smiled, "I think I just might have to go see someone about such things," She commented, sensing the conversation was coming closer to an end, "Thank you for the advice, Kat, I'll see what I can do then?" She chuckled and shook her head, "Perhaps we'll see each other again? Good luck with your stallion too. It sounds like he's a piece of work." She shook her head. Honestly, why were males such problems to deal with?

"A partnership would be the best, of course." She chuckled softly as she turned towards the woods. "He is a piece of work but we have an agreement; I live in his grove and he gives me my space... More a partnership than any sort of relationship and he doesn't exect anything out of the deal besides a bit of conversation."
She tossed her head lightly once more, turning to look over her shoulder at the other mare. "I will take that bit of luck though... And I'll wish you some as well. It sounds as if you will have a tougher time than I will, Lady Azariel. Until we meet again."
That said she turned forward once more, slowly sashaying towards the woods while humming a strange little song to herself. It was going to be a wonderful rest of the day...
