Some time has passed and my injuries have gotten better. So as a result I've been wandering around. I still would like to learn a few things of my family... so I've been on the look out for clues as usual while I've been training. The effort has been helping some... I'm able to understand my pokemon a lot more than I have before. I'm able to work with them better. And I'm also able to wield fire on my own more easily.

I still have no clue how the heck I'm able to do that by the way. But hopefully some answers will come soon.

Also, Blood Vain is slightly more cooperative now. I emphasis the slightly. He still wants to kill me. And he voices it whenever he can. But... well it's hard to explain. He's an odd pokemon... which makes me wonder what was going on with him before I chanced upon him. I doubt he'll be telling me any time soon though.

That aside, I actually did pick up a trail that might have something to do with my family. I chanced upon an old burnt shack and well I went to see if there was anything salvagable within. Not much was there really. There was a painting on the wall that looked like it might have been of a charizard of sorts, but what I didn't expect was a pokeball. One that contained a Charmander.

His name is Kaen, as he told me, and he knew me apparently. Or recognized me. He said I was supposed to recieve him some time ago? Kaen refused to elaborate. So in a sense I really didn't learn much else...

Oh yeah.

I caught a butterfree along the way. Timid bug it is.

Blood Vain's tale

It all started on a small island when a small clutch of squirtles hatched. They were normal, for the most part save for one whose coloration was black and red. No one quite knew the reason for this odd coloration, seeing how this one squirtle was in no way a shiny. As a result, the squirtle's peers teased and ostracized him, saying he was not one of them. And whenever he tried to join them, the others would eventually resort to ganging up on the odd colored squirtle.

It made him furious. And it made him strive to grow stronger. After all, if he were strong enough, perhaps they'd acknowledge him then. The sole squirtle then worked on improving himself. Eventually, he had become a wartortle while the rest of the group remained the same. The situation didn't differ.

Despite his newfound strength, they still did not accept him. This frustrated the black and red wartortle greatly as he yearned to be accepted. In a fit of rage, he attacked the squirtle tribe, defeating them all, effectively displaying his power over them. Even then, they did not accept him, for now they feared him. Confused and lonely, the wartortle struck out on his own once again. But now he tried to reach out to the other species of pokemon on the island. They too would not let him into the group, and at times he again would be beaten around some to try and keep him away.

His anger only grew as he proved to be too weak once again. At this point, he hated feeling weak just as much as he hated being cast out, if not more. After all, the feeling of being able to overpower others was one of the few good feelings he had throughout his life. To him, it showed that he was better than them who dared to call him an outcast.

Then one day, humans came to the island. And strange creatures they were. The wartortle was not too far from where the squirtles normally gathered when he heard their cries nearby. Upon investigation, he saw a number of the squirtles, held captive in nets. None of them looked in very good condition either; some may have been dead. Not only that but there were a few other pokemon that seemed to be working with the humans. And once they spotted him, the wartortle was attacked as well.

The human's pokemon proved to be too much for him, as he was eventually defeated. The battle had been a rough one as he sustained grave injuries in the end. But something odd happened then. Perhaps it was his determination and will to not be beaten down once again that caused it, or something else entirely. For as it seemed that the wartortle drew his last breath, his body shimmered and he evolved on the spot.

Slowly, the blastoise rose back up, seemingly from the dead. And it was then that he retaliated with full force. Stunned from this comeback, the opposing pokemon stood little chance, and its life, as well as its trainer was soon wasted on the sandy banks.

Terrified of this beastly blastoise, the other humans did what they could to fend him off. Eventually one managed to capture him. The human thought, that instead of attempting to finish him off, the blastoise should be kept and trained. He was already powerful as is, and his coloration was something special as well. It was then that this blastoise received the name of "Blood Vain" due to the fact that he was splattered with the blood of men and pokemon upon capture. Unfortunately for the trainer, he could not tame Blood Vain. The blastoise resented the human for believing he could be commanded like some weak minion. And as a result, he eventually killed his original trainer, to show him just how strong he was.

Time went on, and Blood Vain went through several other trainers. Most did not share the same fate as the first, as many would release him once they felt he was a dangerous lost cause.

It certainly was the reasoning for the trainer who released the blastoise into the streets of Yamiyo City one fateful night...

Training with Blood Vain
Standing in an open field with several scattered trees around, Blade scanned the area to see if anyone or anything was around before taking in a deep breath. So far, only Fou-Gai and Kaen were the other souls nearby, and even then they were a good distance away. They were told to keep clear, and for good reason.

Once he felt he was ready, the thief brought out a certain pokeball before tossing it onto the ground about ten feet away. As soon as he let go of it, he drew his sword and assumed a fighting stance. Bright light burst forth from the pokeball, unleashing the black and red Blastoise out onto the field. When he had completely materialized, he stared straight at his trainer, narrowing his eyes before grinning.

“So are you going to cooperate with me for once? Or will this just be the same old story?”

The big water type remained silent, and instead let his actions do the speaking. Quickly, the hatches in his shell opened, revealing the cannons it held. As this happened, he ducked down, using an arm to brace his upper body. And the moment he was in position and had aimed, water began to gush straight out for the human.

By now, Blade knew the signs of when he was being targeted, not that there was much to know in the first place. When he saw Blood Vain preparing for a hydro pump, he began to move. In the next moment, he felt drops of water sprinkling against him as the attack narrowly missed. Knowing it would be a matter of seconds before the next attack came for him, he kept running in an attempt to flank the Blastoise. He had tried to reason with Blood Vain numerous times, but none of it ever seemed to get through… except when there were potential enemies within the area. Even then, it was rather hit or miss for when the pokemon wanted to side with him.

Unfortunately, the only thing that seemed to really get through was a display of power. And even then it wasn’t easy, and not just because it was a 200lb powerful water pokemon who isn’t afraid to injure or kill another. Blade couldn’t really tell why, but the fact that he once managed to defeat and capture Blood Vain seemed to cause the brute to have a vendetta against his trainer.

Blood Vain grumbled with displeasure as he saw his attack miss, and he quickly moved to reposition himself. He fired off a few more hydro pumps to no avail, and then he decided to change up his plans somewhat. The water type wasn’t as nimble as the smaller human, so he was going to need to change that if he was to get what he wanted. Which was Blade’s dead body at the time being.

He turned about to keep his trainer in his sights. Then, he opened his jaws and let out a bright beam down towards the human’s feet. Upon contact with the ground, sheets of ice formed to create a slick surface. The pokemon watched as he saw Blade attempt to move away from the beam, but the thief ended up running onto the icy grounds, causing him to slip and fall. Perfect. Now, acting more like a shark than a turtle, the Blastoise ran straight for the fallen human.

With a groan, Blade shook his head to himself as he scrambled to get to his feet. Still on the ice, he found it hard to get up quickly without slipping or sliding more. And just as he managed to get some sort of foot hold, he saw a black mass headed straight for him. He tried to move, but between the ice on the ground and how close he was from Blood Vain, there was just no way he could dodge in time.

“UGH!” he grunted as the Blastoise had aqua-tailed him right in the gut. The blow was enough to cause him to tumble some distance away without any wind in his lungs.

Seeing this, Kaen started to rush towards his trainer’s aid, but the Torchic with him soon stopped him.

”Get out of the way! He’s going to get killed if we don’t do anything!... Why is he doing this anyway?!” shouted the Charmander, both angered and worried with what was happening.

”Calm down Kaen… I don’t think he’s in as big of trouble as it seems… Even if he is, there isn’t a whole lot the two of us can do against Blood Vain, and you know that,” sighed Fou-Gai, ”As for why… well.. he’s trying to prove himself I guess. I think Blood Vain is angry at him because he feels like he was captured by someone really weak…”

Growling, Kaen clenched his fists while the flame on his tail grew out of frustration. As much as he hated this right now, the Torchic was right. Still, he wished there was something he could do about all of this.

While the two fire types were speaking, Blood Vain was narrowing in on the human who was doubled over and gasping for breath. He could taste victory more and more with each step he took. With a dark grin, he stood over Blade before reaching out to grab onto him. If his canons could punch through steel, he wondered what they could do to a human’s head at point blank range. Oh this was going to be fun to find.

But, the thief still had a bit of fight in him. Out of desperation he swung up his right arm, throwing flames straight for the Blastoise’s eyes. It hardly singed the brute, but the sudden heat and light right in his eyes was enough to startle and distract him enough to buy time. Blade was released from the claws of the turtle, and when this happened he rushed over to where he had dropped his sword. Once he reached it, the water pokemon had shaken off the shock and Blood Vain couldn’t be more unhappy with what had happened.

Booming out a roar, he dropped back down onto all fours to fire off more hydro pumps. The young man, with adrenaline numbing the pain, managed to stay out of the streams of water. As he ran, he moved to close in on Blood Vain, to the point where he was just a few feet away. It was then that he struck out for his arm inbetween gushes. Sucessfully, he managed to slice into the pokemon’s thick hide, and the sudden pain was enough to cause him to waver some. Roaring, more in irritation than anything else, Blood Vain went to stand back onto his hind legs to resume attacking.

Just as he did this, he found Blade’s sword tip hovering around where his throat would be. Grimacing, he stared straight into the human’s dark red eyes.

“…Gotcha.”

”That’s only what you think,” finally spoke the beast before shifting slightly and lunging straight forth. The sword still sliced against the side of his jaw but that was no problem at all for him. He had felt greater pains in the past.

And as he moved forth, he unleashed a water pulse from his mouth, striking the thief in the chest. The blow knocked him back and onto the grassy earth. With a groan, the human’s vision blurred. Having taken two direct hits from a powerful pokemon, there wasn’t much more his body could handle at this point.

Turning his head to the side, Blade saw Blood Vain’s pokeball on the ground near by. As the large water type drew near, he rolled onto his side and grabbed it. Before the Blastoise could deliver any more devastating blows, he was struck with the red beam of light, recalling him into the red and white ball.

With a sigh, the thief dropped the ball before closing his eyes. It would be a week if not longer before he’d be able to try any of this again.

“One.. one of these days Blood Vain… one of these days…”

Bahamut
They say that we were once amongst the dragons in this world. But for some reason, we were cast out... condemned I guess one could say. At least that's how the myth goes. They also say that this family... clan of sorts, were descendants of dragons. But with time they strayed, becoming more like us in a sense. I know not if I should believe it, but it's what I was told. A number of them did possess abilities beyond what normal humans are capable of doing... so perhaps there is some truth to it.

I was raised to be strong, proud, loyal. Raised to be a warrior. To be a dragon in heart and not just in appearance. Still, despite what I was raised to be, I loved them nonetheless. Though strict, they were kind and compassionate. They say that "Nothing is so strong as gentleness. Nothing is so gentle as real strength" after all.

They revered me for my strength, as well as for my rare coloration. As a result, I was named after the king of dragons, "Bahamut". Whether or not I have or will live up to this name, I don't know. But I find it rather ironic in a sense.

With these claims, it was no wonder that the clan had its enemies. Another clan more attuned to the actual dragons of the world claimed us to be inferior. But for the most part there was peace... that is until a number of rumors began to spread. Where they came from, I can't tell. But it all led up.. well for now I'll just refer to it as the 'incident'.

In this incident, the clan dispersed. Some died. Some simply disappeared. Friends and family were lost then.

Ten years has since past, and to this day I try to honor those lost each day that goes by with my own survival. The scars I bear, as well as this armor I wear, are simply symbols of the past. But there is still more I must do.

I know there has to be at least one survivor out there, if not more. In these past ten years I have been searching, hoping to find one of them. The clan may be gone... but it doesn't mean my duty is as well. I will find someone. And when I do, I will defend them at all costs.
