Tete puffed up defiantly against the growl and unhappy face, knowing that his daddy couldn't be serious about it- they were having too much fun, and it was so obvious anyway. He shook his head, "Nu-uh! You promised you wouldn't get mad at me. You just promised, remember?"
He resumed a more natural posture as Kubwa tried to say how trees were so much better, and at the mention of flying lions he had to snort. Tete was only a cub, and while he had an imagination he wasn't so sure about flying lions.
"Lions can't fly though, silly," he argued, and looked a little surprised when he said his mother liked rocks, and had even been talking to them. Tete tilted his head, surprised to hear such a thing, "Really?"

"Oh, no, sweetheart...I..I was just kidding," he looked worried and then wanted to cry because he called his son sweetheart, what a mommy thing to do! Aadil would have gotten a kick out of that surely! He made a garbbled laugh and looked at Tete, "I was kidding, we're fine, okay..just F-I-N-E!"
"I've seen a flying lion, two actually," he nodded knowingly, "They're interesting creatures alright, my bestfriend Wahabu..well he knew a few flying lions, I'll let him tell you about them."
"Oh, yeah. Your mother loved the earth, so much so, that I don't think she liked the sky as much as I do."

Tete snickered as his father promptly admitted to be kidding around, and then he grinned toothily up at him, "I was kidding, too. You really are silly." Tete's laugh was cut short at the announcement that daddy had seen a flying lion, or maybe even more than one. Not only that, but he was surprised to hear that he had a best friend that Tete had not really heard about before. He wrinkled his nose, trying to absorb all the information he was getting now. His grandparents, his mother, flying lions, friends..
"Oh," he mumbled, the only thing he managed to say.

Kubwa, notting the wrinkles smiled, "Alright enough information, I've got a game. I'll race you to those trees right over there, alright?" He pointed to the copse that Aadil was pacing back and forth in. It was possible to see her, and he was sure that if they started running towards her she'd notice them. It would be a fun thing for Tetemeko and possibly a nice way for them all to meet.

Tete looked from his father out to the trees, oblivious to the strange lioness there as he only gave the area a quick glance. He looked down at his father feet and then back up to his eyes. A race would be fun! But instead of saying so to daddy, Tete decided he deserved (and needed) a headstart and turned to the trees and darted off.
"I'm gonna win!" he called as he ran, intent on getting there first.

Kubwa's smile brodened as he saw his son start to run and he called after him, "I'll win!" and he started to chase him, not at full speed, but at a reasonable speed to look like he was trying very hard, "Tete!" he giggled like a child and bounded along, "I wont let you wiiin!"
Aadil's ears perked as she heard someone calling from near by, whipping around she realized that it was a small white cub. "KUBWA..IS THAT YOU?" Aadil shouted in a fit of confusion, of course it couldn't be him..but it looked so much like him.."KUBWA!" she walked slowly trying not to believe her eyes.
And then suddenly she saw a larger white form chasing after the white cub, "Kubwa...?" She whispered and stopped in her tracks.

Tete kept going as fast as he could, not even looking back when his dad declared that the little one would not win the race. However, he did look back to stick out his tongue at Kubwa just as Aadil called out to them. He was surprised to hear his father's name called out from ahead of him, though. He knew Kubwa's name, both from asking him and from when he was staying with Tai and waiting for him to come.
He turned his head sharply to get a look at the source of the calling, and went into a headlong tumble, coming to a stop a couple feet later. He'd been told they were looking for someone, but it still caught him off guard. The conversation had, clearly, been distracting. Tete looked from his spot in the grass to Kubwa.
"What--?"

The pale adult lion could not have gotten any paler, not for the lack of trying. It seemed that he too was distracted by their conversation and was shocked to see the older lioness standing infront of him. Keeping the pace of a lazy jog he headed towards his mother and son..what was he going to say? He had not gotten that far, surely she wouldn't hurt him?
He placed himself slightly between Tete and Aadil, looking back at his son for courage. Tete was an infinite source of emotion of Kubwa, he had been sad, happy, overjoyed, terrified, and every emotion inbetween, but Kubwa could overcome all of that to create pure love. So, yes, Tetemeko, his little one was a source of courage. He smiled widely, hoping that Tete would see it and be reassured and then turned back to Aadil.
"Mother, this is your grandson, Tetemeko," he said confidently.
Aadil's soft blue eyes widdened and she was about to call out as the little white juvenile took a tumble, "Are you al-" her voice caught her her throat as Kubwa approached..it was her son...just much older, "Kubwa..I...?" She looked confused for a moment as she saw her youngest son approach and position himself infront of the little one.
Her heart dropped into her paws as she realized what he was saying...Her son wasn't dead..in fact...he brought back a son..what was going on..? He had gotten himself into trouble it seemed..and from what she could see of the little boy he looked like Kubwa..her son hadn't stole him.
"Tetemeko," she whispered and then said louder, "Come, let Grandma Aadil get a look at you then..might as well.." she seemed flustered.

Tetemeko could see the shock in his father's eyes, and almost immediately remembered that they had been coming to meet his grandmother, his father's mother. Did that surprised look mean they'd found her much quicker than expected- even accidentally? He just turned back to get another look at the strange lioness when Kubwa suddenly blocked his clear view. Silently, the youth leaned over to try to see around his father just before he was smiled at. He returned a sheepish smile, and his eyes darted back to Aadil as he was introduced to her, watching her reaction.
His smile wavered a little as he watched her try to wrap her mind around what she was being told. It wasn't very encouraging for Tete, as he was determined to make a good impression on family. He quickly tried to sit up straighter, and then scrambled to his feet when called forward. With a glance at Kubwa, Tete did as he was told and drew closer to Aadil.

"Your daddy was a bad boy you know, ran off, thought he was hurt or worse! You're a very welcomed suprise," she smiled kindly down at him and shot Kubwa a look that meant 'you'll explain later.'
"So, Tetemeko...you look just like your father, well, a little different, but you've got our brown, and of course our white. Wait until your grandpa sees you!" she bobbed her head in the usual happy fashion as she spoke, "Although, we're both much too young to be grandparents, and you look much too big to be a cub..." another watchful glare was shot in Kubwa's direction.
Kubwa blushed furiously the heated color coming to his cheeks and it could slightly be seen through his fur around his nose and eyes. His mother was really going to interogate him. But, at least she liked Tete..that's what counted! "He..umm..well.." Kubwa stopped, maybe his son would like to talk to Grandma Aadil.

Tete frowned almost immediately following Aadil calling his daddy a 'bad boy' and explained why. He almost didn't hear what she said about him being a welcome surprise as he glanced over at his father sadly. He didn't want him to be in trouble! Somehow the youth felt it was his fault, he'd been with daddy for a long time now- he probably kept him away.
"Daddy said you wouldn't be mad," he said, looking back at Aadil trying not to frown again. That wasn't exactly what Kubwa had said, he'd expected his father would be but not his mother. This was close enough. Tetemeko was ignorant to social standards that might exist involving cubs, and looked at Aadil funny when she said she was too young to be a grandma. She didn't look too young to him, she looked as big as daddy..
Fortunately, Tete didn't say this outloud.

Aadil did her silly little head bob again and smiled broadly, "Oh, Tetemeko, I'm not mad at your daddy. Just suprised." she found it odd to say Tete's name. What an odd moment in her life, she was supposed to at least meet the girl before they went off and had children!
"Who's your mommy? Where is she?" Aadil asked looking awkwardly down at Tete.
Kubwa looked taken aback and just stared, he was not ready for that question. Opening his mouth he quickly closed it, how was he going to explain...?

Tete didn't look entirely convinced when Aadil said she wasn't mad but rather surprised. Calling daddy a bad boy didn't sound like something you did when you were suprised. He didn't get a chance to point it out for a tough question was quickly flung at him, and his eyes immediately went to his father. Tete had just asked that question himself, he didn't know the answer.
"Um," he hesitated, looking back at Aadil and offering a meek shrug, "I don't know."

"What do you mean, 'you don't know?' that's impossible, surely you have met her?" She glanced between the two trying to devulge the secret, "Surely he could not have survived without milk, a mother?" she poke more to Kubwa than to Tete. She was frusterated, she missed him so, but now that he was home he brought more trouble with him. The cub suddenly didn't look so much like Aadil and Kubwa, in her mind he looked like a stolen child. Who could she alert? The royales would be able to find his real family, wouldn't they?
"I'll tell her," he said calmly to Tete and he winked, "there is no use in lieing, mother." he paused, "Tete's mother is no longer around because she had to leave to do something she thought was very important. Tete was left in the care of a nanny and once he was weened I was able to take him home to you. Out of fear, I kept him away. Because..well I was afraid you would be mad.." he looked not at Aadil when he answerd the last part but at Tete, he really was afraid she'd be mad..wasn't he? That was the point of being gone so long..why didn't he say so before?

Tete didn't know if he should be afraid of answering Aadil or indignant that she didn't accept what he said. It wasn't his fault he didn't know, he'd just asked his daddy about his mother too! He looked, somewhat alarmed and confused looking, to his father just in time to see the wink as Kubwa explained. He listened very keenly to what his father said, especially when he said he wasn't going to lie- not that he suspected daddy would lie to him..
When Kubwa admitted he was worried that Aadil would be mad, Tete frowned and looked down at the grass. This was starting to become a tad overwhelming for the poor youth- it was starting to sound like he was causing a lot of trouble just by sitting there before his grandmother. Why should she be mad that his mother wasn't there? Or was it that Tai had taken care of him? Or- was it that he was there at all? That just didn't make any sense at all.
