arrow Command Center - Snow
The Hidden Snow Defender and the mission leader stepped forward. The mission leader spoke, their Defender was modeling.
"And that, my fellow ninja, is why Snow has come. From the sound of things, we had a relatively easy time with our invaders compared to the rest of you... rather than try to beat our way around their technology, we simple obtained samples of it and began the reverse-engineering process until we were sure just what it is that makes them so particularly resilient."
He indicated the suit of Chakra Armor that Snow's Defender was wearing. "This model has been upgraded with the technology they left on our front door. You will notice it looks like nothing you have seen on the enemy... that is because this is quite true, I redesigned this myself. We have only been able to produce half as effective a shield from these suits using our own power supplies - using the enemy's was too risky, they might have had some sort of fail-safe besides the ones we removed."
He cleared his throat and took a drink of ice-cold water. "More importantly than that, when the shield is not active, it can be inverted, negating the effect of their chakra dispersion fields on a ninja wearing one of these devices." He pointed at the chest of the Defender. "Just keep in mind that our power sources are not infinite... only activate shield or negation field when you are about to be attacked or perform a jutsu. And thanks to the proliferation of discarded enemy technology brought by all of your Villages, we will be able to outfit this entire camp - and maybe find out a few more advantages we can get up over this threat." He pushed the glasses back up on his face and bowed.

Shuten raises an eyebrow. He only wore one armor, damn it all. He keeps his arms crossed and listens to what the others are speaking of. His eyes flit from place to place on the map, more interested in combat tactics themselves than this nonsense about chakra fields. Regardless of whether or not he couldn't use his techniques, he'd punch a hole through the armor of the enemy if necessary. There wasn't a problem yet he couldn't solve with his bare fists, and that never changes. No matter how technology changed, men would always settle their argument the old fashioned way in the end.
He stays silent, at first..then sighs and closes his eyes..speaking up after the explaination is done..
"So essentially, these fools hide behind their little gadgets and fields and are unable to fight an honest fight like men. I've found that with very few exceptions, an armor has a weak point no matter what. There is no true thing as an absolute defense. As loath as I am to say this, if we all press our advantages we shouldn't have a problem. Besides which. I may not know a lot about devices, but there is one thing I do know."
Shuten pops his neck from side to side..then flexes his shoulders..casting a critical eye on everyone..his face a mask of boredom..
"Everything has a heart of some kind. Once we get into the organs of the beast, as it were, our best bet is to have a small crack team of the best of best go through the lesser men if possible, into the heart of the beast. No power source is infinite, ever. It has to have a container or some kind of moderational vessel. Chakra flows through a body, shurikens are thrown from a pouch. Kill the body, tear open the pouch..and it debilitates the rest. Obviously since having all the best warriors on one team would put anyone else into a disadvantage, a few of the team leaders should remain, but the rest should appoint seconds and let them lead the main offensive."
Shuten then walks forward, gazing at the map again..musing.
"If it's certain we're going to trip an alarm, rather than doing things the ninja way, we should probably just go right in. I know enough about Leaf ninjas to know what some of their Clans can do..I've had enough fights with them in the past. If there's a Hyuuga present, then they should be outfitted with an armor that carries at least two power packs. One as a backup and one main. A Byakuugan will allow us to detect weaknesses in the armor if there are any, and to detect any changes in Chakra manipulations through the armor. It's easy to poinpoint when an enemy will attack if you can see their chakra moving in a certain way. If we have a Hyuuga at the lead, flanked by two defenders..we should be able to see our way through any area correctly."
He gestures again, tapping his fingers on the table..
"We should have at least one specialist of each type to allow for versatility. I'd advise a base team of five at most, with a medical Nin in the mix as a sixth member. Someone who blends several styles might be helpful in case the team were seperated. I'm good with weapons, but I'd be no good on a team like that, to be honest. I'm more of a one-man army and I'm much better at forward offense than infiltration. Another possibility is luring a good chunk of the enemy out to allow the team in in the first place. Camouflage techniques can bypass the cameras, and diversionary chakra arts can most likely fool sensors. I doubt they're much different from tripwires and explosive tags in how they're applied, just with a lot of mechanical mumbo jumbo. No matter how you slice it, a trap is a trap is a trap."
There's a moment of pause..and he runs his finger along the map showing the entrance path.
"Ultimately, an ideal grouping would be two in front, side by side, with the Hyuuga behind them, then one to cover the Hyuuga's back, the Medical Nin behind that person, and one more to cover the medical nin's back. That way there's two tanks in front of the Hyuuga, and three in single file behind, so that your eyes are totally protected, and the medical nin is capable of getting to the Hyuuga quickly, possibly even the front guarders. At any point that things get rough and a retreat is called, the Hyuuga can change positions with the one guarding his back, so that person is taking damage. In that case, the medical nin will be in front of the Hyuuga, their back is covered by the same individual, while the person who was in the far back will now be the defense in the lead, keeping the softer units safe. This makes the most tactical sense. This is assuming we even have a Hyuuga, but Leaf isn't so stupid they'd not bring one. Their skills are invaluable."
He taps his chin and muses..
"My only problem is with these cloaked figures. Since they seem to be strongest, the unit commanders, I'm willing to bet there's an even stronger type of unit on the inside. You never show your biggest guns in an incursion, you always keep them inside your castle. A good master of war keeps individuals that excel in things as his personal guard. If you just set up a bunch of grunts, sure you can tire the enemy out, but there's a flaw in that design. Even high level grunts are just grunts. I'd wager there's an elite unit, like our own ANBU, inside there guarding whatever powers their main base's weapons and shields. They probably have a third type of armor, and most likely there will only be a few of them. In any army, a Daimyo has many armored pikemen in front to take down heavy horse, and armored samurai and archers behind them. Typically, elite ninja or Onmyouji are kept to tend to the mystical arts of the castle's defense, which is what I speculate our other type of enemy to be. I'd be willing to bet a mission's worth of pay that there won't be more than a handful of them, but that they'll be on a level at least two ranks of power above the cloaked ones. I'm also willing to wager that they won't use weapons, but most likely some kind of device in their hands so they can't be potentially disarmed, leaving fewer weaknesses to exploit. If they were thinking like me, tactically, and they probably are, they'd do this. This is all just my take and my suggestions..obviously I'm not the final say in this operation, but like hell will I not give my input."
He falls quiet then, crossing his arms once more, looking as stone-faced (no pun intended) as he typically does..then finally pipes up with one last thing.
"As for the rest..I'm sure Sand, Snow, and all of you others have arts you can use I'm unfamiliar with. Since I've fought most with Leaf I'm most familiar with their capabilities..I wonder if a team of squad leaders from each village would be best. This brings a large amount of technique versatility as well as general fighting style. The problem is getting all of you to cooperate..heh heh..but then again, it's that..or we all die anyway. I'm not worried about death, but some of you seem to like breathing."

The Cloud mission leader indicated he was to speak. "Our ninjutsu capabilities allow us to take control of electricity and energy fields, as well as paralyze enemy units." He motioned to Tetsujin, who was laying on the ground staring hard at Shuten. "Our Defender is excellent at anti-personnel combat, and getting at their weakpoints with as little effort as possible."
arrow Grass
Teki shifted inside the tent, making himself visible again. "I will stay outside and aid the frontal attack with my Iteza... we can give whoever's out there all-range cover and snipe enemy reinforcements. Nothing gets by an Iteza." He spoke this last line vehemently... and it was true, Grass may have been a relatively unthreatening country if it weren't for their Iteza Protectors and their leader, the grim Teki, Master of Quills.
arrow Sand
The Sand mission leader nodded. "Our ninja will aid with frontline material. Our attacks are strong and relentless, and we can mire down the enemies." He indicated the youngest among the group, Areno. "Our Defender has... ah, unique abilities, that might be useful to anyone inside." It might be noted he stood a full three feet away from the Kaguya prodigy at all times.
For his part, Areno just stared at the others, sizing them up with his pilfered eyes.
arrow Leaf
Kotai, Defender and mission leader, ran a hand through his hair, looking back at Hinata. "We... do indeed have a member of the Hyuuga Clan with us, she is one of our foremost medical ninja as well as my fellow Leaf Defender. In which case I propose that this strike force, should it come to that, be composed entirely of the Villages' Defenders, those who specifically triumphed over their invaders, for maximum effectiveness. Quill-master Teki has agreed to stay outside any building such a strike force would enter, ensuring that whoever else remains outside to battle will be fully covered." If he had any reservations about Shuten's speech concerning how he "knew" how Leaf's abilities worked, he didn't show them... he also kept the fact that he'd met Shuten on the battlefield before a moot point.

From within the Cloud group of ninjas was a young chuunin nin. He stood out a lot from the others. From a normal person's perspective, he looked to be very...unique. His hair was pure white as it came down to his shoulders. His eyes were red and his skin was very pale. People normally just passed him off as albino, but the reason for his appearance was only known to very few people(including the Raikage). His name was Kouu Mamoru.
Attached to his side was a sickle which attached to that was a chain. The chain was wrapped around in a circle and was attached to his pants. He listened intently to the mission briefing and to all the leaders who had spoken.

::Hinata's head was swimming. So many details, so many plans and tactics. She moved near the map, white eyes shifting over it, inspecting, memorizing::
::in the past she had indeed been able to see effects in the enemy armor, it was a flow afterall, like any of the nin, but on her own it had still be nearly deadly, the byakugan had its effects after prolonged use. She offered a quick glance up at the stone representative, giving him a silent once over. Milky eyes examined him, delaying to inspect his own before turning back to the map.::
::most of the speaking she left to Kotai and Shunketsu, having worked with them enough to trust them to the tasks. Upon completing her study of the map she looked up, taking a moment to examine all the representatives before speaking, her voice soft, yet firm, commanding in its own way the attention of the people around her::
I would wish to meet with any of those with medical skills and training before we are to set out. We must all be equiped to handle any disaster that may fall to our teams.
::she turned and moved back to Kotai's side::
As a member of my clan, I do indeed have a bit of skill at being able to follow the patterns through the armor, though if I recall properly, weak spots are momentary and at times take extreme force and concentration to break through. Timing in this will be everything, or my abilities will mean nothing at all to my team.
As shunketsu mentioned, they armor has the ability to absorb and convert Chakra, making the effectiveness of my eyes a bit more limited than it would be against a normal foe, an advantage to them. But not impossible.
Teamwork and quick planning will allows us to get through, I leave that planning to minds greater than my own.
::she turned her pale eyes, eyebrows slightly raised, to the member from stone::
Afterwards, we shall have to speak of how you know so much about my families abilities, if we both survive, I beleive that it would be an interesting conversation.
::she sat, the corner of her mouth tilted slightly upwards. Sometimes, she lacked the tack that Kotai commanded, but she had had her piece::

Shuten chuckles, and gives the woman the once over..his eyes appraising her. So this was a hyuuga woman..she was rather beautiful. He allowed his gaze to lounge over her before he shakes his head..
"I can tell you now, though it will probably spark some problems..though I do not fear problems. Despite it all, I will tell you how I know of Hyuuga's power. I know of it from experience in dealing with it. In the wars, I have fought them, up close, personal. I do not remember encountering you..so most likely we were on differing sides of the front. Many times, my men fell in battle to the formidable Hyuuga of Konoha..though I will not say the other clans are weak, either. I respect the strength of anyone who can hold off my people."
He pops his neck from side to side, and flits his gaze to Tetsujin..feeling the man's eyes on him..and then to Kotai, before they return to Hinata.
"I studied your kind. I studied how they fought. I caught one of them once, actually. In retrospect, I suppose it's a good thing I caught the poor fool. You see, I learned quite a bit from her. No matter how good, eventually a person will break under certain..interrogation techniques. You know, I learned some very interesting facts. The fact that you can see into people with those eyes. The fact you can see flows of energy and weakpoints in material objects and flesh. The fact you can see a great deal beyond the simple spectrum of sight. I must admit..there are probably some things I still don't know. I was only able to quiz the woman so much before she died. Pity that. I would have liked to have learned more."
It's obvious the way he talks he doesn't know about the Byakuugan weak point, or anything of that nature..mostly, apparently, he learned about the way the sight itself worked. And he goes on, casually, as if it was a dinner discussion..
"The truth of the matter is, I said it was a good thing I found her. It was. She told me before she breathed her last, that your family was always on the lookout for enemies who will take the eyes of your people and try to subvert them somehow. I pondered this. I thought, and I thought long and hard. I then decided I disliked the abilities of your devilish eyes that see into people. So, rather than see my own village grow fat and lazy by assimilating your family's unique gift and giving up their real training, despite the fact it would have given us an advantage, I burned the woman's body entirely."
This brings several quick looks from Shuten's team. Apparently they were totally unaware of the fact he'd not only captured a Hyuuga in the past, but one that could have been exploited for their ability..and he'd torched her. Then again..does anything that man does surprise them anymore? It shouldn't.
"We got strong by hard work. We tempered our bodies and minds to fight all our enemies. If we allowed ourselves to depend on some assimilated power, we would pervert everything we stood for. I don't give a damn about the Kage's orders or any of his stupid ideas. I fight for my country because I love it, and its raw power and strength. I can't stand it when people think by ripping the gift out of someone they can gain an advantage over another. If you don't gain power on your own strength, your own power, you can't ever become a real warrior. So what if I'd be at a disadvantage fighting a Hyuuga's eyes..I'd fight one anyway, because I am a real warrior. I am a devil. I am a monster. But the one thing I am not is a coward who relies on the gifts of others. I have trained with my own blood and sweat to live as long as I have in battle. I will continue to be that way."
The entire time, his gaze is rather flat, and his tone is quite serious. Maybe normally he'd gloat about killing his enemies, but this is a touchy subject for him..
"I said I respected your strength. Do not misunderstand me. I think the eyes of the Hyuuga are fine, ON the Hyuuga. But for a man to try and steal another's gift is cowardice. Rely on your own powers, or rely on nothing. In the end, count on yourself. It's stupid to think by eating up the powers of others it makes you stronger. All it really does is make you weak. Steal something here, something there..then what are you anymore? You don't really know. You aren't you, you're just a morass of stolen gifts and abilities. Power comes from stretching your own limits and gaining insight through battle. Master a weapon. Cut your enemy with it. THAT is power. Taking someone's eyes and using them in their place is just letting their soul leak into yours, subverting your own."

Areno looked over at Shuten with either contempt or shock, his starkly-white eyes obviously betraying that they were Byakuugan themselves. The youngest ninja in the tent spoke up, "Foolish. Power comes to those who will it and command it, not let it command them. Mastery of power does not allow it to master you. Thus can any power be added to your own safely." He tapped the scars on the sides of his eyes, where the incisions had been made to implant his Byakuugan from the Hyuuga he killed during Tate's invasion of Sand.
arrow Leaf
Kotai had been listening, obviously, the space in the tent wasn't so large that so many people could fit in and have plenty of room, and doubtful was it that Shuten was keeping his voice quiet.
He was still leaning on the table, but his right was clenching as the Stone-nin continued on with his story. At the point where he explained that he'd burned the woman, Kotai's right hand jerked involuntarily, splintering three-fourths of the table, leaving only wood shards on the ground that smoked lightly at their ends. He waited until Shuten was done, then spoke up to prevent any Leaf-nin from taking the initiative. "That'll be enough of that, Shuten-san. That goes for the rest of you... we've all done things in the past that have likely had an impact on one another... families destroyed, friends massacred, tests and enslavement, kidnapping and experiments... but we'll not speak of them today. No. For now, if nevermore, we are allies, and we would do well not to test that new and tenuous bond." Those whom he was not speaking to directly should quickly get the idea... it was not wise to gainsay even someone so young, but that a master of the Gates who could dwarf mountains and was reported to never die even using the most lethal of techniques. Leaf had a short fuse with those gathered save Grass, and that both Kotai and Teki were two very well-known men in the ninja world praised or feared for their quick and decisive abilities. Also, that Kotai continued to note Shuten in the familiar was a tad odd, but considering he'd just exploded a solid table by squeezing with four fingers would stave off any questions for now.

Shuten turns his eyes to Areno..and simply smiles..
"Perhaps it is simply a difference in general beliefs, warrior of the sand. Given the chance, I would most certainly like to have a life or death battle with you, when all is said and done. Not out of malice, but because I can sense power in you, and it would please me to fight one so strong."
He then turns his head to Kotai..and muses. After musing, he just nods.
"As you wish. I will say no more about the past. I will not apologize..but I will refrain from any further speech that will cause these so called bonds to break. I do not believe in bonds, but I did agree to help this cause, and I will not go back on my word of honor once it is given. Even a devil abides by his contract, once it is signed."

::Hinata remained silent, watching each as they spoke in turn. Her brows grew ever so slightly closer together as she looked at the young man from Sand, but she made no comment. For now there was no reason to, they needed to work together on this and not bicker::
::as the table shattered under Kotai's grip she placed a calming hand upon his shoulder. Her touch was feather light, barely there, but the conveyed effect would be the same. All too well did she know what would happen if he lost control, and she couldn't have that::
::she offered a slight smile to all of those in the tent and gave a nod before finally speaking, again her voice soft::
Safe to say, gentlemen, that it is a debate for another time. For now, we have plans to make. If it is fine with the rest of you, I will take the medical nins with me and trust the battle strategies to you
::gently she removed her hand from Kotai, giving him a short smile as she moved away. Her items were not with her, but in the tent, she doubted that she would need to gather them just yet, but she would need to see what it was that the others had brought::
::She walked carefully towards the tent entrance. For a brief moment she caught the gaze of the young man from sand, her white eyes were neutral and after a quick moment they easily moved away, casting one more look at Shuten, the corner of her mouth twitching ever so slightly before she passed through the entrance and was gone::

Kotai unclenched almost immediately, soothing at Hinata's touch. After a moment to regain his composure, he straightened out his vest, scarves settling down behind him. "That concludes our strategy session. We will spend the rest of the day and night here, preparing and resting as appropriate, so that we can make best time tomorrow morning, leading up to our confrontation. Teki, I want your Iteza always on our perimeter both in camp and on the move, and take your best scouts on ahead. The rest of you will handle your ninja accordingly as per your specific idioms and customs."
He kicked a chunk of wood away. "And let's try and be as friendly as possible... perhaps our Villages don't always need to be trying to kill one another for no good reason all the time."
He smiled gently as Hinata left, his face becoming hard set as soon as she was out of sight. The momentary happiness of having her close was gone, and he was now sitting in a tent with former enemies once again. "Unless Shunketsu and his defectors have anything to add, we are concluded, shinobi, kunoichi."

: surprised nce outside and several feet away from the tent she stretched her arms over her head, feeling the stress slowly leave her muscles. She exhaled, letting her hands fall, closing her eyes and raising her face to the sky, soaking in the feeling of the air around her, deeply breathing in the scents::
::she broke out of her breif reprieve and moved to an area of the encampment that was out of the way but not too far to one side or another so that she could gather together the medical nins that the other villages had brought and discuss with them what their own general plan was.
