I thought it was a pain in the a**, and I can't imagine why they don't just ban the trolls and let things get back to reasonable discussions.
There's nothing more moronic than people who have nothing to say going in and interfering with other peoples' conversations.

No, not really. I guess the people who were DOING it laughed, but no one else really did. The most irritating person there seemed to be one of the ones instigating it, after all.

Basically, it's saying "I don't like the way you guys talk, so I'm going to s**t all over your conversations and waste your time". There is nothing more unjustifiable than trying to shut people up because you don't agree with what they say. It's a sure sign of someone with their head up their a**.
If you don't like what people say, then don't read it. Wow, that was easy.
Why would you instead try to interfere with what they want to do? In order to spread the stupid?

My point is that it's not your place to dictate what people may do to progress, learn, OR entertain themselves.
You apparently find entertainment in irritating other people. They find entertainment in having serious discussions on metaphysical subjects.

People who devalue anything that happens on the internet because 'lol it's the internet' are morons. The internet is possibly the most important thing to happen to human civilization since the invention of the automobile...what it's doing for global communications is astonishing. The people you talk to online are real people, and the conversations you have are as serious as YOU want them to be.
You've no real right to tell others that they should not take online relationships and interactions seriously. There is nothing 'fake' about them, they are as real as talking to someone on the phone, or in person.

Yes, this is Gaia, but people do talk about serious subjects here. Why? Well, who knows...I am not here for anything BUT decent conversations. Yes, dressing up the little avatar is fun, but if there weren't any good conversations, I wouldn't have stayed past a few days. I am certainly not here to watch a bunch of stupid kids troll and make small talk or post pointlessly about nothing.

I'm not laughing because trolls always think they are funny, but simply never are. Some of the people laughed because it was stupid--not because it was clever.

If you can't tell, I hate trolls. I developed that hatred honestly over the years, watching people who thought it was their business to 'lighten people up', or keep them from having serious conversations by using flood attacks. I watched good dicussion forums destroyed by this form of malicious vandalism, and there is no excuse for treating other people that way.

It gave a few moderators extra work to do when one of them was feeling ill. Beyond that, it was (rightfully) largely IGNORED.

If you're talking about Mehlel's bullcrap, he/she/it seems to have thankfully fallen silent. Mehlel is just a troll like the rest, it's not like MORE trolling will solve that problem.

People simply waited patiently for the cleanup, then went back to posting.

Yes, I will tell people that they should take online interactions as seriously as any other kind. You are talking to real people. Ethically, if you would not say it to someone's face, you should not say it to someone here.
