I remember one day I was getting ready for school and had the television was on and Girl's Not Grey came was playing. I fell in love with the song and I thought that the band was different, but really didn't think anything of it. But I bought the cd after The Leaving Song Pt II and became obsessed with them. Eventually I bought all of their cds and became even more obsessed.

afireinsidefreak darkXstar Do you remember the first time you head AFI? Or maybe even the first time you heard a certain song or saw a certain video? Share your special moments whee
The first time I heard AFI, I was sitting at home watching MuchMusic, and Girl's Not Grey came on. I sat there in awe watching it. It blew me away.
The first time I listened to Sing the Sorrow, I was driving back home with my family from Montreal. I was reading the lyrics as I listened, and I just remember feeling this overwhelming sense of comfort. I was at a really rough time in my life, and I was close to tears during Silver and Cold.
The first time I saw Silver and Cold on TV, I did in fact cry. I'm not even entirely sure why. Its not that they died, it was only a video, but there was such strong emotions portrayed in that video. I then spent the nest half hour yelling at my brother to get off the computer so I could go watch it online. I was visiting my friend and she was watching rock countdown, asking me if certain guys were "cute" (in her terms) and Girls not grey came on... I lied to her about all the guys she asked, I said no to all of them, then I went home and downloaded all their old stuff.... and then I heard sing the sorrow a little while after ward. Okay that's it, nothing special. which friend was this? Frances? or Hannah?no wait she didnt have Fuse....was it Lauren?...dont say it was me....I'll feel like an idiot....but then I dont say the word "cute" often... Sarah introduced me to AFI...she made me listen to Girls Not Grey and I was like yeah thats good but I didnt at first think Davey was hott until I started looking at more and more pics of him, then I was like Damn he is sexy! but I didnt automatically say I was the biigest AFI fan ever, just after listening to STS, like some posers do....when I really started getting obsessed with AFI was after I saw the video for Days Of The Phoenix, and thats how it became my favourite song...thats also why I think davey was hotter with short hair......but yeah.....

the first time I hear an afi song it was total immortal then god called in sick today. I learned to play theese song with my band.
The first time I saw girls not grey on MTV crying It was sad I couldnt believe afi would ever do that. Once they said in an iterview that they hated korn and limpbiskit for bringing rock back. So I almost stoped listening to them because of that. I like the video and the song its just the fact that they are being played on mtv. But then agan if it wasnt for mtv they wouldnt have come to mexico. I hate massive commercialism. But then I feel better that afi is winning money from it and not only the freakin pop idols. any way they are still great and when I heard their album sing the sorrow I loved it.
Has anyone ever heard the album that hunter did by himself? I forgot what its called I would like to hear it so I was thinking about buying it but I dont know if its good enough

Wow. I have been a /fan/ since atasf..sortof. I was really little and I lived in california, around where AFI was at the time. My aunt had picked up an album (atasf) and was playing it in the car. She drove me preschool and home every day, and was always listening to it, so in my little kid mind, I liked it. Now, almost 10 years later...still a fan. Still love 'em.

I knew some kids in high school who were fairly obsessed with them, so I wanted to see what the big deal was. I watched the video for "He Who Laughs Last," and frankly, I hated it. When Sing the Sorrow came out, another of my friends recommended it very highly. I heard "Girl's Not Grey" and liked it a lot. I bought the CD and enjoyed it very thoroughly. Since then, I have warmed up to their older music quite a lot. Even "He Who Laughs Last" doesn't bother me anymore.
