Auriga shrugged slightly. "No home, no family and no mate... Although there was a guy I kinda hoped wanted the part..." she looked at him before smiling reassuringly. "But I'm not sad about it. And I don't feel hard done by or anything..." She laughed slightly. "I get to go where I want, when I want. Although I would like someone to run with now and again..."
She looked out at the rain. "It can be fun to have someone to run with, and explore with and watch the night sky with... but that time will come when it's ready for me.."

Kiefer felt a bit bad for her. He had never delt with heartbrake, or even love. He hadn't even come close. "I'm sorry...so it..didn't work out?" he said, feeling it was a touchy subject. But she had brought it up. "I mean...with the guy you liked" he was curious...it seemed like all the realationships Kiefer knew about were very disfunctional.
"I guess" he said, looking out at the rain, wanting to run out and play in it suddenly. But then he would look stupid...like a colt. "I havn't ever thought about it" he took a step out into the rain, not minding it so much anymore. In fact, the droplets felt warm against the cool air.

Auriga shook her head. "Nah... it didn't work out... I had fun while it lasted through.." She smiled slightly as she stood up and stuck her head out to look at the sky. "You think this is gonna ease off anytime soon so you won't be so scared to come out from under this tree?" She looked at him with a grin.

"Oh...well that's too bad" he said, not wanting to push the subject any further. Love was a delicate thing, and something that Kiefer never quite understood...it was too over his head to even try to reason it out.
"Scared?" he said suddenly, his ears perking up. "Scared!? No! I am NOT scared of a little water, I just don't like it!" He moved himself completely into the rain, letting it come down and soak him. "I don't think it will stop soon" he looked up, and he could see no sky at all in any direction.
"And I don't want it too" he moved a bit away from the tree, picking up his hooves as high as he could to keep them from getting swallowed by the mud, and within secounds he was completely soaked to the core, and his hooves were covered with a thick layer of mud.
"Well, the question is, are YOU coming?" he asked, flicking his we hair out of his eyes. It made a pleasant slapping sound as the wet locks hit the others behind his head.

Auriga couldn't help but laugh. Keifer now looked completely waterlogged. Even though his mane wasn't long, it stuck all over his neck.
She trotted out from under the tree, lifting her hooves high also. Her now only damp hair quickly became sodden all over again but she smiled.
"Dear stallion, I am of course ready when you are!" She danced round him, her smile changing to a smirk. "So... what direction will we go?"

"I don't know" he said truthfully, trying to see anything in the distance at all, but it was no good. Suddenly, lightly cracked not too far away, perhaps a few miles. For a moment he could see a tree had caught on fire, glowing in the night like a beacon. But it quickly was drenched by the rain.
"Shall we go see that?" he asked, not waiting for an answer. He began to canter in the direction, his hooves splashing water in all directions as he moved. Being wet was not a pleasant feeling, but at the moment he really didn't mind too much. Exept for how dirty his hooves felt, and how annoying his mane was getting as it kept falling in front of his eyes.
"Keep up or go home, mare!" he called, quickening his pace to a gallop for a moment, but finding that the ground was too slippery for that sort of thing. In fact, for a breif moment he found himself slidding recklessly forward on the mud before regaining his footing. Kiefer used to be falling constently as a colt, but he hadn't since. He didn't fancy going down that route again.

Auriga broke into a run, chasing after Keifer as he shot off without much notice. She laughed as he teased her for not keeping up, and she sped up as much as she dared with the ground being so slippery. However, her love for rain did of course mean she was aware of how fast she could go without looking clumsy.
She looked to the tree they were racing towards, and attempted to run alongside Keifer without getting so close that they ended up in a rather muddy heap on the ground.
"Here's hoping lightning doesn't strike twice!"

Kiefer tried to move faster as she managed to get alongside him with relative ease. The tree was quite close now. He started trying to slow, which certainly was difficult. He felt his hooves loose their footing, and felt like his body was completely leaning forward from anertia.
"Don't worry, it never does" he said, as he managed to get a grip upon the ground. The tree in front of him was completely dead. In the short moment it had been ablaze, the top was chared black.
"It must have been dead in the first place, because if it had leaves, there would probubly be some left because it is so wet. And it must have been some strike, to have burnt it like that so quickly. He gently pushed the tree a bit with his hoof. It groaned, and the brittle wood of the base began to crack a bit.
"Should we push it down, so something that isn't dead could grow here?" he asked. The area wasn't very heavily wooded, but a good amount of trees scattered the landscape. Big trees with widde branches and leaves that must shade quite a bit, keeping other trees from growing.

Auriga gace Kiefer a sideways glance she she came to a stop near the tree, her hooves still slippery. She looked up at the tree and then back to him as he spoke.
"We should... hope nothing's living inside though!" Auriga smiled slightly and she stepped up beside the tree. Checking her footing, she pressed her shoulder against the tree and leant into as much as she dared without slipping. The rain still fell heavily, and she blinked water out of her eyes as the tree groaned.
"Wonder how deep the roots go..." She huffed as she pressed a little harder, her hooves digging deeper into the ground.

Kiefer nodded, and watched her try. She certainly wasn't weak, but he knew taht he, being a stallion, was a bit bigger, at the very least. "Let me try" he said, putting a hoof on and push, which wasn't successful. So, he got up on two legs, the other two on the tree, and threw his weight forward and pushed.
There was a low creaking sound as it moved forward, then cracking noices. He let up on the pressure a bit, not wanting the stump to impale him or something similar, and when it was almost horizontal to the ground, stopped. He moved to the side, and gave the final push, and the tree completely snapped, leaving bits of bark flying in the air.
"It is a bit depressing" he said, looking at the tree. It wasn't a huge tree, and musn't of been very old. A young tree. As stupid as it seemed, it was a bit sad that it had died. But then again, it's death meant new trees could grow there. So it wasn't all bad.

Auriga stepped aside to let Kiefer push the tree over. It creaked and cracked as it fell, roots sticking out of the dirt like limp limbs... She moved round to stand beside Kiefer and tilted her head with a small sigh.
"It is... so sad that something so small should die... Well, small compared to that tree we sheltered under..."
She looked back. With the rain, that other tree was hard to spot. She squinted a little before giving up and looking back to the half-charred trunk at her feet.

"Yea, it is" he said, feeling the moment become more and more akward as the stood in a momentary silence. He kicked one chared limb, and the black outside now clung to his hoove, like a little peice of death that wanted to grab onto him. He held it to the rain, and it quickly washed off.
"I think it is letting up a bit" he said, looking up. Still no end in sight, but the rain didn't totally blur out everything around anymore. It only just gave everything a sickening grey aura.
"What shall we do now, then?" he asked, trying to lighten up the somber tone. Lightninng cracked once more, and it made him jump a bit. The thunder and lightening seemed ot becoming less frequent. That meant that the the storm was leaving, right? His mother must have mentioned something about that before, but he wasn't sure.

Auriga chuckled slightly as Kiefer jumped and she shrugged slightly.
"I'm half torn between going for a run and going back to that tree until this rain finally goes off.... Perhaps, for you to tell me a little more about yourself...?" She cocked her head slightly, trying to make her tone of voice seem flightly and only slightly interested. Truth was, Kiefer did interest her. They came from very different backgrounds, and yet ended up quite similar. She did want to know more about him, but she ddin't want to scare him off...

"Hmm" he said, not really faze by her question. This gave him a chance to rant about his family, and what a rant it was. He wasn't the type to go on and on about himself, but she had asked, and his family was really the only intersting thing.
"Well, I come from a massive family. I've got my parents, Astia and Bairn, and they are great, although sometimes I wonder how two soquili who seemed to have such conflicting personalities could love eachother so much. I've got my sisters, Tahlia and Abattie as well. Tahlia is a bit quiet and I think rather fragile, as the youngest. My older sister, Attie, is a little ball of joy exept for when she gets emotion, which happens. So independent, though, it scares me a bit. I am too protective of them, I guess. On top of that, I have 6 cousins, and five aunts and uncles" he said, finished. He then realized that was all about his family, and not much about himself. But was there really much to tell? Just a crazy reckless guy that did things with out thinking.
"And how about you, anything interesting?" he asked, feeling like he deserved to return the question.

Auriga listened intently, her ears perked up. She chuckled slightly as he described his family. And what a family it was! She was caught off guard when he asked her back.
"Me? Oh... now I'll seem really boring!" She laughed, almost nervously. "I pretty much grew up alone... I'm not sure why, I don't remember much... although it's the reason I love night-time and water so much... I always felt safe in water, I don't know why... Guess it was nice to feel something gentle against my coat...?" She wondered on the last part of her sentence. She hadn't quite realised that til now. How sad that her only real 'hugs' were ever from a pool of water.
