"Someone should look into that then. If the ones with wings are suppose to be more numerous you'd think that maybe you'd see more of them." He stopped for a moment. "Unless they're all, your Dah aside, of the type that likes to keep to themselves." That would make more sense. If the Winds weren't all that social then it would be harder to run into them.

Tony's words made him laugh. Shaking his head he had to agree. "It could have huge social ramifications should someone take the time to look deeper into things and discover why this so called more numerous race seems to be harder to find."

After dealing with his brother and their various fights he'd gotten pretty good at coming up with bullshit.

"If that's the case, though, I wonder how Dad knows so much about them...you know, maybe the Winds just don't live in this area. Perhaps each race has their own "region", and this one happens to belong to the wingless ones? I have no idea why my parents wound up here if that's the case, but it makes sense."

Now that they'd estasblished this topic as "bigger and better," there was no reason not to run with it. And honestly...it was really a head scratcher. All he'd managed to meet so far was regulars...a nasty one, a few decent ones, but generally speaking, all wingless.

"Have you ever heard anything about that? That there might be territories? And if such is the case...I wonder how many races there are out there!"

"That could be the case also. It would make more sense for those with wings to live somewhere that they could get better lift. The mountains perhaps? Though i'd think your Mama's kind would live there." This place was covered in trees here and there so getting a start so you could fly wouldn't be easy.

"Perhaps the winged ones live on the plains? I haven't been out that far so i wouldn't have met them if that was the case." He'd seen the plains at least. The stretches of nothing but grass that went all the way to the horizion.

"You could ask your Dah. He'd know something like that. Mine would too." His Dah was smart so he'd be able to tell him why they only ran into wingless ones.

"Hrm...I don't know if the plains would make that much sense. I could see the forest, because walking through the forest can take a really long time and you have to worry about tripping a lot, so wings would likely make that easier. Then again, I've never tried to climb a mountain, so I can't say how hard that would be...but that makes sense. Maybe the kalona live in the mountains and the winds by the woods?"

That would likely make sense from the bird-angle as well; birds liked to nest in trees, so maybe winds did as well? Then again, his father never 'nested'...but his father wasn't typical, either.

"Maybe ask your dad. Mine's kinda hard to track down these days, what with him trying to avoid my mother and all. Do you suppose he'd mind? Your father, that is?"

"I'd think that something as big as us wouldn't fit in the trees. I mean trying to fly in there you'd end up tearing all your feathers off if you didn't knock your head against a branch." There just wasn't enough room. Maybe if the winds were smaller than normal it would make sense. "You don't suppose there's a smaller type do you?"

He though about his Dah and Mama and figured they'd be pretty easy to find. "I don't think Dah'd mind. He'd be happy i made friends and was curious. Can go find him?" Tony could come too and his parents could meet his friend so that if they ever asked who he was with they'd know.

"No, not IN the trees, ABOVE them. Unless there was enough room between the trees for proper manuevering...but then, that wouldn't really be a forest..." That was deep, alright. How WOULD you perch in a tree if that meant resting all your weight on a branch? Branches weren't that strong, after all... "I don't know. My dad is maybe your size, so unless he's HUGE compared to the rest of them, I don't think that they're really that small."

The idea of asking Dodger's dad seemed the best plan, all things considered. "Sure, I'm game. Might as well get some answers where we can!"

Not to mention that he was honestly curious about what Dodger's parents were like. In spite of having met other Soqs, he'd never yet met a mated couple.

"But they'd have to get into the trees to live there so unless they flew to the edges every time they wanted to get to the ground, or memorized where every clearing was, it'd be hard." Or maybe not if you were used to it but either way he figured that winds wouldn't live in trees or around trees. There had to be an answer somewhere and he'd bet his Dah knew something.

"He should be back at the lake with Mama." He turned in that direction and tossed his head motioning for Tony to follow him. "Hopefully he didn't run off ta meet Kitara. Then we'd have ta ask Mama."

He wasn't at the lake and he hadn't been since he'd lead his youngest batch of children away from it to give his eldest daughter room to have her foals. He was, on the other hand, currently standing near the river beneath a large tree that provided enough shade for him to be comfortable even with his dark coat in the sun. It was a nice day. A nice, quiet day... With no children around, finally, life was good.

"Well, as long as your mother knows something, or at least has an opinion, about winds. She might know more than we do, after all...which at the moment wouldn't be that hard."

Grinning, Antony followed after Dodger; he didn't really know how far they'd be going, but he could do with a good walk. Besides, this was something new and interesting; he got to meet someone new, and a parent to boot!

He headed toward the river knowing that following it would take him back home. It was always easier than having to remember how to get back the hard way.

"Don't know if mama knows though. She's nice, better than nice, but for some reason she don't like people all that much." Or maybe it would have been better to say that his mama liked people but just had a hard time making herself go out and look for them.

She'd slink away from the camp earlier in the morning while Remy was still napping to take a dip in the lake. Atsila still wasn't being all that friendly and probably needed her space. She'd taken a run after her bath to enjoy the sun but now was starting to regret it.

Walking slowly toward the trees she smiled as she saw Remy hiding in the shade. If the sun was hot to her it must have been almost murder on his hide.

As much as he enjoyed seeing the sun come back in spring after the winter, it was a bit of trouble come summer... Nothing he couldn't deal with by changing his sleeping pattern a little though. He'd just nap here and there throughout the day, as he was doing at the moment, and wander around at night. Summer nights were always beautiful times to be awake anyways.

Ah, that was bound to make things complicated. "I guess that we'd better hope your dad's around, then. Tracking down my dad would be easy if we knew what location to check out, since he's BRIGHT red, but...yeah. waiting for your dad will probably take less time."

That, and the fact that Dodger couldn't fly might make it hard for him to get to some of Guilian's preferred haunts. Dodger's Dad sounded interesting, and he'd hate to miss meeting him.

His mother too, for that matter; she sounded nice. Supportive too, for that matter, though eerily like his own mother when it came to being anti-social...though likely for different reasons. Hopefully for different reasons!

"Bright red must be easy to find in the winter." He snickered slightly. Something that red when everything is white would be like a giant red button. That could be really bad if you took predators into consideration but if you could fly that wasn't a big problem either.

Picking up his pace into a trot he headed toward the river and once there he followed the water toward the lake. If his Dah wasn't there maybe he'd find him on the way.

"Hiding from the sun?" She chuckled softly as she came closer to him. Her hide was still slightly damp from getting the dust from her run off her and the shade would make it feel even better.

He opened one eye, peering at the mare as he let a sleepy smile creep across his features. "Mmhm. Ain't nothin' better t'do on days like this... 'Cept maybe hide in th'shade with you." He gave his head a light toss, stepping to the side in order to make a bit more room in the shade for Rogue to join him.

"Yeah, just a little bit. He sticks out like a sore thumb, but he's always liked his high-visibility look. Gotta make yourself noticeable somehow, right?" Right, like Guilian ever had any troubles being noticed. It was something that his children had always admired, and in Tony's case even tried to emulate when younger. Nowadays, though, it was proving infinitely preferable to NOT be noticed...

As the two stallions walked along the river, Antony looked about curiously; he hadn't been over this way before, and everything was new to him. Besides, you never knew what you might find...

"Say, what's your dad look like, anyway?"
