"She has her problems," She said with a wry smile, shrugging it off. Sara was her sister, so she would love her no matter what and wouldn't try to judge. Everything wrong with a cub had a cause, so she believed, and also that no personality issue in a cub was something he or she was born with. Sarakiva hadn't been born like she was, it was something she had developed over time, after getting used to the lifestyle that revolved around her.
"Well, I really don't mind," She said truthfully. "But we could go hunt butterflies, if you want." She nodded enthusiastically. Hunting butterflies not only brought entertainment, it was great practice for when they would have to go hunt for themselves in the future. And at the very least, it wasn't as stupid and pointless as a simple cubs' game like tag, or hide-and-seek.

Meko blinked at Mzuza as she admitted to not really minding what they did, and wondered at how she could seem to dislike her sister forcing her to sit in the front at the story but say she actually doesn't mind that.. he shook his head a bit and just decided not to worry about it, instead focusing on the suggestion she made.
"That sounds like fun, I knew you'd think of something," he grinned, not really caring if the game had a point or not. It would be fun even just trying to find butterflies to chase, and that was what mattered to him.

"Have you ever done it before?" She asked as she turned to continue down the path she had originally been taking before he had leapt out of the bushes at her, attempting to strike up some kind of conversation. She didn't like travelling in silence. "It's really hard!" She added, whether or not he had. They were headed toward a small clearing she had found one day amongst the vast expanse of savannah grasses, littered with rounded boulders that grew small wildflowers at the cracks. Butterflies liked flowers, she had realized, and so the flowers made the spot a prime butterfly-chasing location.
She remembered the first time she had seen a butterfly, how she had been both enchanted and terrified of the little flapping creature with iridescent blue wings. Then it had landed on her nose and she had had to cross her eyes just to see it, and she had found herself peering into a face with a pair of large, spacey black eyes with unfathomable depths. How empty those eyes had seemed!

"Not really," he answered, hopping around to follow after her as she led the way to where he trusted there would be butterflies for them to catch, "I've chased them, but I've never really bothered trying to catch them." Meko shrugged indifferently, not too concerned with the fact he'd never taken his activities seriously. He liked to have fun, and as long as it was fun he didn't feel the need to catch the butterfly. But! Now that a hunt had been proposed, he was up to the challenge.
"Do you know where to find some?" Meko asked, looking around for any bright colors- something he'd associated with butterflies- be it the insects themselves or the flowers they were attracted to.

"Uh huh," She answered without a moment's hesitation. "There's this clearing nearby with flowers. And well, butterflies seem to like flowers. There are lots of them there, especially in the afternoon." Bobbing her head in rhythm to the steady two-beat of her trot, she swung to the east, where the sun shone brightly in the sky. "There won't be quite as many right now, probably, but you never know, right?"
She could tell that they were almost there, by the way the grass was slowly starting to thin out around them. A couple more small boulders littered the path, which she trotted right over. She liked boulders, that she did.

"Great!" Meko exclaimed brightly as he followed after her. He took a good look around as they jogged along, wanting to be able to find this place again if he could. His attention was drawn back to straight ahead when the ground felt distinctly different beneath his feet, and he grinned.
Definetely would want to find this place again, he decided, and followed right after Mzuza.

It took hardly any time for her to find the right clearing, and after popping her head up through the tall grass to make sure it was the correct place, she crouched into the grass and motioned for Meko to join. The golden blades parted to make way for her muzzle as they peered out into the clearing. The butterflies hovered about the flowers occasionally breaking away to do a dance of their own above the others. And perhaps, if they were lucky, they would see the joined efforts of two butterflies twirling about in the air. It was so gorgeous a sight that it was almost a shame that they were going to ruin it in moments. But she made peace with the fact that all too soon the butterflies would return to the flowers and destroy their efforts anyway.

Meko followed closely after Mzuza, crouching low and creepingup beside her to get a good look at the butterflies and flowers for himself. He wriggled as he forced back the desire to leap out and start the attack now, for the point of this was to let his friend be in charge. With a grin, he looked over at her.
"Ready?" he asked in a hushed voice, though he wasn't likely to disturb any butterflies from where he was.

"Like you wouldn't believe," She replied promptly, her voice just as low. There was more chance that her higher voice would carry to the butterflies than Meko's low one - shrill sounds travelled better through the air. So she did her best to disguise her voice and lower it as much as possible. She stared at the butterflies. Some were on the rocks, fanning their wings almost lazily, while others lingered around the brightly colored flowers, while others again simply fluttered about meaninglessly.
"On three?" She grinned, suppressing the urge to wriggle about. She tended to wriggle when she got excited, which wasn't often. There wasn't a lot that her siblings could do that impressed or excited her, and every time she felt the unfamiliar tingle of excitement down her spine, she revelled in the almost alien feeling.

Meko put no thought to their talking disturbing the butterflies, for all he knew and cared they would always be ready just for them to play with. It didn't make much sense, but as a cub Meko had a right be optimistic and somewhat illogical. So the cub merely offered his friend a grin and nod as she prompted him, and then he immediately turned his attention to the butterflies and awaited the count.

"One..." She crouched lower, and readied herself for the spring.
"Two..." She pitched her ears forward, training her eyes on the 'battlefield'. Although really, what kind of a battle might there be between two cubs and a dozen butterflies?
"Three!" On the count, the copper colored cub sprang from where she and Meko had been laying low, hurling herself into the air. The butterflies scattered the moment she shot out of the grasses and took to the air, flapping urgently as if panic-stricken by the ambush. Mzuza leapt into the air after them, snapping at the winged insects as she just fell short of their height, almost as if they were taunting her. They weren't superior!

One... Tetemeko mimicked Mzuza and crouched lower, his eyes set on on particular butterfly he intended to go after. He took a quick glance over to her to see if there was a chance they might collide if he went where he aimed, and there was no visible risk of it so his attention turned back to the butterflies.
Two... The cub tensed as he prepared to leap out, it was hard for the excitable boy to keep it under control- as long as Zu didn't try anything funny with the counting, though, he expected it would be fine.
Three! At the final call, Meko followed after Zu and leapt from their hiding spot in the grass. With two ambushers, the butterflies' frantic escape attempts became muddled as avoiding one cub brought them to the other and they were forced to find an alternate. Unfortunately, they did have a height advantage that Meko could not overreach either.

((Gaaah! Meko so smexy xD))
She revelled in the sight of their combined work taking a toll on the butterflies' flight. Instead of the controlled, organized, almost weary fluter away, the presence of two dangers had driven them into panic. It was something she had never seen happen in butterflies before. She had always taken them for calm, collected and cool creatures. It was why she liked them so much in the first place. She always thought she could see something of herself reflected in the beautiful creatures, and she enjoyed being able to identify with something.
Mzuza leapt up and batted at a low-flying butterflying. She missed it, only just, and watched as the wind her paw generated as it had whistled by the butterfly buffeted the fragile insect in the air. It struggled to regain control of its flight, and then continued on its way, unmindful of the two cubs and the chaos that surrounded it.

(( Damnit, I didn't realize I didn't reply to this ;; I'm sorry! ))
Meko's attention was barely drawn away from his target butterfly, even as it managed to swirl away and out of his reach. He continued to leap after it at least two times more after it was out of his reach before he stopped, landing in am odd seated position. Despite the failure, the cub grinned widely and turned to watch Zu's efforts to catch the butterflies. He didn't want to interupt, and watched for an opening to go after another one- though it looked to him like they'd done well in scaring most of them off.

(( D'aww, s'okay xD ))
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Meko somehow land so that he was sitting strangely on the ground, and felt herself start to laugh as she reached up toward another butterfly. Most of them had cleared out by now, so that only one or two still fluttered in the air, as if hopeful that the two cubs would go away so they could have their clearing back. She took one last swipe at one of them, feeling her paw almost clip the butterfly's wing, and then landed and sat down across from her newfound friend. "Well, I guess that's that." She said with a grin. She always felt a new surge on inspiration after every failure at trying to catch butterflies. How could so small and insignificant a creature outsmart a lion?
"They'll be back soon enough. You'd think they'd be smart enough to find a new spot to rest, right?" She grinned, realizing what a paradox butterflies could be. How could they be smart and dumb at the same time? It didn't quite make sense.
