Overall, I thought the episode was okay, but a couple things kinda dragged the story down for me. I felt the scenes with the Daleks were very good... they're much more effective when they aren't dominated by some leader (like the Davros in the Classic Series, or the Emperor Dalek in The Parting of the Ways). Sek is nominally the leader of the Cult of Skaro, but we see the other Daleks questioning his orders, and Sek explains his reasoning rather than just barking out "You will obey me!" I like the idea that the Daleks feel the need to adapt, and they don't just run back to daddy Davros for some help.
But, really, what's the point of creating pig-men? Why not just stick some mind-controlling devices on people like in The Dalek Invasion of Earth? It's a great deal less conspicuous than having a bunch of pig-people wandering around collecting new slaves. It kind of seems like an idea that was just thrown in the story just because it sounded cool (like the kung-fu monks in Tooth and Claw).
And I still think that human-Dalek hybrid looks majorly dorky. And his voice sucks... they should have just kept Sek's.
The title of this thread amuses me.

Wow. and wow again. The whole episode had a very Tom Baker feel to it really. *fangirly squeels* I was a bit worried, knowing the Daleks were going to be back...yet again, but I love how they handled it! It's so refreshing to see someone try something new with the Daleks after all this time, and I include the original series in that. There is one episode this comes close too, vaguely, and that would be "Genesis of the Daleks", where Davros briefly toys with the idea of giving them their emotions back, making them more as they were.
I'm so impressed with this ep. Even the pig-men couldn't ruin it for me. blaugh Though Lazlo made up for them., but I'm still confused as to why the Daleks would create half man/half pig men to do the ...ahem...grunt work. 'Cause geez...they're so inconspicuous. rolleyes LOL
Like others, I'm waiting to see the rest of the Cult of Skaro turn on Sec eventually. Just can't see them going for that for long; okay so he's got legs and arms again, but no armor, no nifty built in techno-gadgetry, no lasers, no elevator....and he's superior how?? blaugh Something how I think the discussion will go before they zap him into little bits.
Okay...done rambling for now. I'm trying very hard not to go watch it a second time right now. rofl As I just finished it ten minutes ago. such a geek. xd

Awesome episode!
Although, like Roobarb, i would like to see more laser guns and spaceship fights.
And i would like to see Frank or Solomon become a TARDIS crewmember... even only semipermanently.
But yeah, i want the rest of the cult to turn on Sec, and his dying words should be *hemhem*
"I have no LASERZZZZ!"

Maybe pigs are were just easier to work with on the whole hybrid thing - something in their DNA or something like that. And I would assume that their original purpose would probably have been as practice experiments to perfect the technique, and then they just turned out to make rather useful servitors once the Daleks had mucked about with their brains a bit.

I've just about given up hope on this entire season. The plot lines thus far have been average and thats about it. The costume designs although in some cases good are usually boring and plain and this new dalek-human hybrid smacks of a lack of creativity. Couldn't we have one season where the daleks DON'T make an apperance? The shock may even cause people to sit up and pay attention. This new dalek-human hybrid reminds me of something. They could be cousins even

I'm not really sure about this episode, to be quite honest with you. There were bits I liked, for example the Doctor realising the jellyfish thing was from Skaro, and the song (called My Angel Put The Devil In Me and specially written by Murray Gold) was pretty good, but some of the other bits... I think I'll reserve judgement on this. See if I can watch the BBC 3 repeat either tonight or Friday, or see how it ties in with next week...
Favourite quote:
Doctor: (slips out of his hiding place and joins Martha) Just keep walking. Martha: Am I pleased to see you! Doctor: Yeah, well, you can kiss me later. You too, Frank, if you want.

I actually kinda hated the episode... the idea was interesting, but the writing was shoddy at best. And I feel like they dumbed down Martha considerably just to make the plot work. What the hell? She's studying to be a doctor! Of course that thing ain't human!
And the moment where she basically kills the girls' show trying to sneak past the dancers. Not even I would have done that, I would've found a way around it so as not to draw attention to myself. Guh.
...and I don't buy into the whole Daleks completely ignoring the Doctor's existance when he's sneaking around... the first time I forgave cause it was dark and he dove into a corner, but the next time? The hell... he was in plain sight! Surely one of those Daleks in the room would've paid enough attention to at least see that he was there...
Terrible episode.

Terrible episode. Well, it's nice to at last be on the other end of someone's disappointment in an episode-but I have faith these points *can* be explained =D Well okay, maybe not Martha's being dumb so much. There's no hope for that girl I fear >.> The thing with Martha's 'sneaking' onto the stage though-I thought that was dumb at first then I realised she's from the twenty-first century and she knows a guy with a time machine who can just fly off at any point (she believes) things go bad for them. Why should she care about messing up someone else's show for the sake of chasing down a pig? Honestly, I just don't think was that bothered about getting seen and just wanted to do something exciting without the worry of consequences. And the daleks ignoring the doctor thing...they're daleks. They assume on Earth in the thirties all they're going to run into is humans, and I'm pretty sure the dalek appreciaton for the human form runs to something a little under five seconds in tolerance. I figure they just switched off noticing anything that wasn't a dalek because frankly unless they wanted it for something it wasn't important to them. Admittedly it was stretching it when Martha started spouting off right in front of the doctor and nobody noticed but hey, those eyestalks aren't exactly panoramic in their view xD Either that or they *do* know he's there and they just want him to witness the 'evolution' first-hand so he knows just how futile fighting them truly is. Could be that.

Dalek/human: I am the human/dalek! You will obey me! Doctor: Hi there Dalek/human: *wiggles head tentacles in doctor's general direction. "Curses! I have bad depth perception!" Doctor: *brainpoke* Dalek/human: Arrrgh... my brain... *cough cough* I... have no... LASERZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ...
And so ends the dalek threat to earth.

Cup_of_Tea The plot lines thus far have been average and thats about it. I kind of agree. This episode was okay, afew good parts, but wasn't as good as gridlock. I was so convinced that the doctor was going to lick that brain thing (as ten does to many things), once he picked it up. Maybe he's outgrown his series 2 oral fixation. and that dalek-human hybrid sounds funny and like afew of you may have already pointed out, the daleks looked straight past the doctor and didn't notice him.....maybe because of his shockingly new blue suit?
