Taeria wasn't one to cry.
... not anymore...
She already spent months crying, almost nonstop, grasping her memories, until one day the images even in her head began to fade away. She couldn't look at pictures to remember. Taeria spoke up, her hands shaking. Though she couldn't shed tears, her body language still screamed tears of its own. "My mate and cub were killed by a hunter, who was going after my cub, my baby. My mate and I tried to fight him off... he shot my husband." She closed her eyes, remembering it like a fading nightmare. She could witness what was going on, but not make out faces. "I lept, and got his bloody juggular... just as he pistolwhipped me in my left eye then tossed me off." The woman rubbed the back of her head. There was no knot, but an unseen scar was present. "At a bloody rock," she added hatefully, yet sadly. "I don't know if he's dead. I... I couldn't see..."
That was her incident. It was life changing. Dramatically altering. And she hated being alone. She sat there, rubbing her wedding band more firmly, as if it were some wishing lamp she could rub and wish for her family back.
"Sorry," she whispered, "I.. needed to let that out..." Nobody knew, but her. It felt good to let out. She didn't feel like crying anymore.

Cecil let a wave of sympathy roll over him as he watched her. This woman-- or dog, whatever, had to be absolutely devastated. "I'm sorry." He said quietly, looking down to the ground for consolation. "I mean, that's horrible.." It was. Cecilius was sure it would be even more horrible if he really understood the import of it which he was almost positive he wasn't getting. This woman's past seemed overwhelming, horrifying even... and to think, things similar to that happened to people every day. Cecilius almost quaked with anger when he thought of the horrifying injustices people like Taeria had to face every day. It was definitely horrible, and yet he could do nothing to stop any of it. Well, he doubted it anyway.

Tae shrugged, and soon stopped fiddling with her ring, which she refused to ever remove. Even in death her love goes on, her mate is eternal, and she knew they'd meet again elsewhere. "All I can do now is live out my life. I've spent enough time at home, and as hard as it can sometimes be to be out in the world, it's the only way to go. I hate hearing all the ridicule I get. It's common for people in my situation," meaning blind, "they think the blind can't hear, too, or something? Bah."

Cecelius nodded slowly as Taeria spoke. "Your loss must have been overwhelming, but you're right, it's still good to live on. There's got to be meaning somewhere." He said, letting hope creep into his voice. He was now speaking as if everything were absolutely normal at the moment. Oh, he wished it was, too. Normal... when was the last time anything had really been all that normal? Cecil could no longer remember, even if it had been less than a week ago. When he looked around now, everything in the metropolis had a strange surreality to it that was unnerving. Why didn't anyone think everyday life was well, weird?

No one thought everyday life was weird because they didn't expect it to be.
Taeria let out a short huff of an almost-laugh that was a bit spiteful of something. Her outcome in life. It was melodramatic of her she thought, yes, but she kept that melodrama to herself most of the time. "I'm still waiting for meaning to fall into my lap," she said with a grin and humored tone, "Since I can't bloody find it for myself anymore."
She looked at him, or where she figured he was, and her brows furrowed, looking serious, studying him. Her milky, blind eyes looked around his person, pinpointing something, "... a light?" she adknowledged just a smidge above a whisper. Apparently the woman had more of an accute sixth sense than the next blind person. Most FEEL energy, she SEES and feels it. She'd never encountered anything of magickal properties other than her special herbs and stones at home, and they too glowed, but not as bright at whatever the man was holding. Herbs were very dim and their light died quickly if not recharged on a regular basis, and her gems and crystals from nature had a slightly brighter glow than herbs, and it lasted slightly longer. She stared straight at the crystal orb. In her blind eyes, she could see a spherical, warming glow, clearly, even if it didn't glow in the phyisical plane.
"What is that?" She extended her hand, reaching for it, though she wasn't sure where it was on him so pulled her hand back slightly. She might grab something else she didn't mean to. Maybe the wrong sphere might end up in her hands, if it was in his lap... now that would be an embarassing hoot.

Cecilius nodded to Taeria as she spoke, forgetting for the moment that she was blind. He blinked as she held out her hand and asked after his orb. She could see it? Well, she certainly knew it was there. He picked it up slowly and uncertainly placed it into her hands. "It's an orb... I found." He murmured, staring at the swirling mists trapped inside. "I don't know what it's all about." He added in a mingled rush of words. "I just... feel like I have to keep it with me." He added, slightly embarassed.
