It seemed the men had found a game to keep Caleb occupied for quite a while. Everything was going fine until the ball bounced off near Reese. Caleb chased after it, then stared at Reese as if he'd forgotten the other boy was there. And he saw what Reese was playing with. "Hey! You can't play with those!" And he stomped over to take the cars from Reese.
Riordan sensed trouble and quickly walked over to where Reese was frowning at his now empty hands, which had just had cars in them. "Whu-eye?" He asked, trying to pull one of the cars out of Caleb's hand. "I whus pwhu-ay-eng wif thu-em fur-stu!"
Riordan knelt down next to Caleb. "Can you share the cars with Reese, Caleb? He was playing with them first, but you can play with him if you share."
Caleb frowned. "No! Mine!"
'Dan gently pulled a few of the cars from Caleb's hands, which caused to boy to stomp his feet unhappily. The man handed all but one of the cars over to Reese and started playing with the last car himself. "See? We can all play with the cars. Can you give one to Uncle Kaden?"
Kaden had wandered over as well. "Can you share the cars with me?" He asked Caleb, who retreated across the room with the cars that he still had.

Ah yes, the deceivingly well-documented paranoia. She had been wondering when that would make an appearance. The file attributed it to subject Goldfur being on his own before being dragged into the orphanage where Faction S had found him, but personally, L thought he was just being a normal little boy who didn't like to share, and unlike most little girls, wasn't scared of initiating conflict. Anyone who had read anything about social roles knew that. The two potential mentors were handling it well though, as was Reese. L had expected him to protest violently and try to take the cars back by force, but Mr. Briggs and Mr. Williams must have taught him well. Her opinion of them rose a notch, and she jotted down a few sentences on her clipboard reflecting just that. L checked her watch again. 50 minutes had passed.

Reese had been too startled by the fact that someone dared take away the toys he was playing with to start fussing. Luckily, his parents had quickly managed to get some cars back into his hands and he grinned as his dad started to play cars with him. That was better. That boy didn't deserve all of their attention.
Kaden walked over to where Caleb had stormed off and was now hoarding what remained of the cars he'd taken from Reese. "Mine!" The boy shouted as he saw the man approaching.
Kaden stopped and eyed the boy for a moment. Then, he shrugged. "Okay. I'll just go play with Reese." And he turned to walk back over to where the other two were playing, loudly asking Reese if he could have a car to play with as well.
Reese was happy to have his dad and his "uncle" playing with him instead of that strange boy. After looking at the cars in his hands, he handed one to Kaden, who loudly thanked him.
Caleb watched them all play cars for a while, frowning. This wasn't how it was supposed to go... They were supposed to play with him! He sulked for a few long moments before caving in and walking over to where the small family was playing. "Here." He grunted, thrusting a car at Kaden.

L scrawled down a few more notes, then added something on a legal pad for her own records. These two were really good at this. She supposed it was advantageous that they already had one child, and she had been slightly worried that Caleb's prescence might detract from the attention that he was getting, which might lead to jealousy and other nasty things, but at the moment, things were going well and the ever pessimistic Techie couldn't think of a valid reason why they wouldn't continue that way.
She let them play for a little longer, then checked her watch again. The entire hour had passed and then some.
Standing up, she approached the group in careful measured steps. "Okay Caleb, time to go back now. Did you have fun?" she cooed as she tapped him on the shoulder.

Caleb had started playing by the time that L reached him and he frowned. He didn't want to leave now. But then... "We go outside now?" He asked, tail wagging excitedly while Kaden and Riordan picked up the cars with Reese's help.
Reese slipped his hand into Kaden's. "Goah hoah-muh naow?" He asked the man, who nodded.
"Thank you for letting us meet with him," Kaden said to L, smiling down at Caleb. "Hopefully we'll get to see you again, little man."

Techie L smiled and nodded. "Yes Caleb. We're going to go play outside now. Be a good boy and say goodbye to Reese and Mr. Kaden and Mr. Riordan." The smile faded slightly as she addressed the two adults in a bussinesslike voice. "It was a pleasure meeting with you, sirs. Faction S will contact you to set up a second meeting at a later date." With that, she took Caleb by the hand and showed them out.
