Fell noticed the brief look of pain on the man's face, though the odd curiosity the boy felt about it disappeared as quickly as the look did. He turned to the baby instead, grinning at the little chubby boy and making funny faces, squishing his face between his hands.
Niko stood up as her son started entertaining the baby, and thought about the question before shrugging slightly. "It doesn't happen that often. Not to me at least. In almost five years, only three times really. My first two daughters came at the same time, then my oldest son, then this rascal here. That was mostly in my first two years. No one else on my doorstep recently." She finished with a smile. "If you don't want a child, though, I don't think it'll happen, and if it does, then, well, I guess I can take it off your hands if you can't manage." The angel said, grinning.

"Oh, not that I don't want him or anything!" Aurrek said quickly. Kelreid was going to be one of his high priests or something when the little booger grew up. "It's just... it's a responsibility, and it's a little upsetting to think that it might be a common occurrance, to just dump kids off on other people."
He took the hourglass that hung from his sash in both hands, checking the sand in it for a moment before flipping the glass part over in its frame, to set the sand going back the other way again. Then he added, "And I was also just wondering how likely it might be for another one to turn up." The god gestured to the aisles around them in the store. "Like if I should pick up more teething rings now or later."
More kids would be a tremendous pain to take care of, but Aurrek just kept telling himself that it was all to restore himself to some semblance of power in the long-run.
Kelreid's eyes widened a little at Fell's silly faces. He looked perhaps a bit frightened for a moment, but the expression quickly vanished in favor of another giggle. Then he put his own palms to his chubby cheeks and tried to make faces back.

The angel shrugged slightly, smiling a little. "Again, I've noticed it only happens really when the person's capable of caring for the child, for a short period of time at least."
She laughed when he mentioned the teething rings, though, her grin widening as she held onto Fell again. "Oh, I wouldn't worry about any more pacifiers or diapers if you really have no wish for one." Niko said, smiling encouragingly. "Unless of course you wish to stock up on baby things for some other odd, unimaginable reason."
Fell wriggled his hand out of his mothers again, squishing his face again to make fish lips at him, making funny sounds to go with the face. "Booga booga!" He grinned at the baby.

"Oh, no, no, I really don't have any particular need for babythings if he doesn't need them," Aurrek assured her, gesturing towards Kelreid. "He'll get spoiled more when he's older. Old enough to appreciate it."
Living day-to-day as a mortal was incredibly dreary sometimes, to Aurrek. It seemed like time moved slower, as though he would have to wait forever, dragging through every day until Kelreid was old enough to become a proper priest or follower. If only the whole mortal-growing-up process could just hurry up.
It surprised him that he could be so impatient.
Kelreid blinked at Fell again. Then, as the older boy made noise to go with his silly face, the infant whimpered before bursting into tears.
Aurrek looked down into the baby carrier at the wailing baby and sighed a little. "Oh, come on, what's wrong?" So far as he could tell, Blackfell was not really doing anything particularly scary. Mortal babies were so weird sometimes.
"Just quiet down," he told the Sin'aeis boy patiently, grabbing a still-packaged toy from the shopping cart basket and waving it in front of his face so it rattled.

Niko grinned again, nodding in agreement. "That's true enough. I'll have some difficulties if I decide to spoil them; having four can be an issue in that area. Give one of them something, the other three want something similar or better. And they're all getting bigger so fast..." She said with a look of mock-despair, before laughing softly, though the smile shrank a little as the baby started to cry.
Looking down at her son, she waggled an adominishing finger at him. "Aww Fell, now what'd you do?" Which caused Fell to look up with a guilty face.
"I didn't do nuthin', I was makin' faces and tryin' to make him laugh..." The boy said, scuffing his feet on the floor while giving Aurrek an apologetic look.
