" A sea that isnt salty? and you can walk all the way around it?" Deja's brow furrowed as he tried to make sence of everything. Just what was this stallion talking about, or was he pulling his leg?
No... wait there was a rather large body of water from which the river flowed from. It came from the large body which was surrounded by land, turned into the river and cut through the forests and plains before finally dumping into the sea... maybe the sea was surrounded by land on all sides too but was too big to cross....
Deja blinked, his eyes had gone cross eyed from trying to think this all out. "I think I understand... there is a big body of water upstream. " her turned his head and motioned towards the river again. "It's a ways up thought, could take a day or so to travel."

Talk about your good news. At Deja's rough estimate of the lake's nearness, Kildegard's smile had grown to the point that it seemed as though his lower jaw might fall off at any moment. Of course, considering the wonderfully positive bit of news he'd just gotten, he had a lot to be pleased about.
"Seriously? Wow, this has to be a new record for me...unless I walked so far I went in a circle. Which is always possible, but if the rain wasn't that long ago..."
Hrm. They were east of where he'd been though...so that meant that the storm Deja was talking about was probably a different one that the one he'd experienced earlier, which meant that there was actually no telling how long it had been since he was last out; assuming that it was only a day or so back to the lake, though, he might perhaps...
The thoughts crowded in rapidly, causing Kildegard's brow to furrow slightly as he attempted to figure out the specifics of time and geography. However, thinking hard had never been the pale Soq's friend.
As he mulled, a change seemed to come over Kildegard, as though he'd suddenly forgotten that he was talking to someone...which was actually the case. The more he pondered, the further into his mind he crept until for all he knew, he could be anywhere. Outwardly, that mental retreat was shown in the glaze that began to obscure his formerly sharp black eyes, and before much longer he'd be all the way back where he'd been; wandering about in his own mind.
Amazing what the power of suggestion could do to certain individuals, no?

"Well in these woods walking in a circle is very easy to do, Its not like it couldnt have happened. With out knowing the days it does make it diffcult to pin pont how long you have been gone."
Deja turned his attention away from the stallion and flexed his wings, lightly pruning himself. It took him along while to turn back to the other stallion, once he had noticed he had gone strangely quiet. well, strange for his new friend for it seemed that he had yet to stop talking since they had met.
At first the change was unoticeable, deja looked at him and then squinted his eyes and leaned in closer. The stallion... looked odd. Like he was in deep thought, but then he didnt seem to be thinking. Just standing and staring.
Deja looked behind him to make sure all was well, no preditors around. Turning back to the stallion. "are you ok?"

"Yes, fine." The reply, delivered with basically no tone or pitch, bespoke volumes about Kildegard's current state of mind; when involved in his thoughts, he could carry on the basics of a conversation without being aware of it. This had led to some unpleasant second encounters (second for the OTHER Soquili, at least), when the FIRST encounter had seen Kildegard completely spaced out. Consequently, the second time was the first, even if he WAS conscious the second time.
Beyond his blank stare and his montone voice, though, his mind was racing away. What sort of trail had he taken to get here? Had he managed to make it through the mountains after all, or had he just gone 'round the base? Had he passed by the camp after all? No, he couldn't have, because Liz would have forced him back into consciousness by spooking him or something. She did so hate his mental wanderings...
So, assuming that he hadn't gone by way of the camp, where HAD he gone? Probably around the far side of the lake, eventually meeting up with this selfsame river and following it for God knows how long...or had he just wandered into the woods and met the river in passing? Both were rather logical routes...
Funny how he could be musing about getting distracted and that itself could distract him? Deja had drifted out of the picture, become nothing more than a variable...and here he was, blanking out. Again.

Deja raised an eyebrow and lightly tilted his head, he did not for one moment believe that the stallion was truely fine. His whole manner had changed.
The stallion watched him closely for a moment, he seemed stiff, his eyes where blank and staring. Was this why he forgot so often, he just seemed to drift in and out of places.
"Well then... do you think you should be heading home? " he asked after a long moment, still continuing to watch the stallion for any hint of change.

"Yes yes, that's probably a good idea."
Had he gone via the north route? The last time he could remember, most of the edges of the lake had been frozen over, so it was pretty easy to travel along that side. But it had been a bit, and if the ice had melted then going around on that side would have taken twice as long as going the other way, just because that would have necessitated swimming. But he wasn't much of a swimmer anyway, at least not in the lake, since he did so hate the feeling of seaweed and the lake was positively full of weeds...
On the positive side, Kildegard had been standing still when he'd spaced out, which meant he wasn't doing his usual aimless walking. However, he was standing as stiff as a board, his dark eyes glazed. As long as he didn't get confronted with something that required attention or get hit or something, he could be out of it for weeks on end.
That could make it hard to have a conversation!

Deja frowned and set his jaw. This stallion was acting so strange....
The white stallion walked around the other, watching him intently and getting no responce. He stopped in front of the other, facing him and stared directly at him for a moment. "Hello in there, anyone home?" he asked waving his right wing in front of the others eyes.
"Hey... " he said at last and moved to tap his flight feathers against the stallions head in a slight smack to draw his attention.

One thing that had to be said about flight feathers was that they were NOT soft; when they were still attached to their original wing, they could deliver quite a smarting blow.
Consequently, in a way it was fortunate for Kildegard that Deja didn't try to deck him, merely smacked him. As it was, though, the action served its purpose.
The slight smart of the leading edge was enough to snap Kildegard back into the real world, however, though he didn't exactly realize how. One second, he was spacing out, the next minute Deja was a LOT closer than he'd remembered and staring at him oddly...
It only took a second for Kildegard to realize what had happened, and he gave Deja a rueful look. "I'm sorry, I spaced out on you, didn't I?"

Deja blinked a little and jumped back as the stallion before him seemed to come back to life. He sighed a deep breath and shook his head softly. "Yeah, you could say that... Does that sort of thing happen often with you then?" He asked, slightly conserned.
He was worried about his new found compainion, no wonder he often didnt remember things if he could blank out so completly like that.

"Yup!" Amazing how one could sound so perky while relating that yes, they did indeed spend a hefty portion of their time spacing out. However, at this point in Kildegard's life, being depressed wouldn't accomplish diddly squat, so he might as well accept that.
Shaking his head a bit, Kildegard looked around, pleased to see that he was still in the same place. The fact that Deja was still there also probably meant that not too much time had passed..."It's a character trait, or something genetic, maybe. All I know is I have to watch what I think, because I'll literally think myself into a daze, for weeks on end in some cases. Crazy, huh?" Grinning, Kildegard looked back at his friend, noting the increase in distance between them that now existed.
"Now then, what were talking about before my mind was so rudely distracted?"

Deja wondered if it was wise to bring the converstation up again for if the stallion started thinking heavily again it could just be a repeate of what just happened. Still it was a risk they would have to take and he figured there was no safer place for the stallion then home.
"We where talking about the best way to get you home." he said in a matter of fact tone, thinking it best just not to address the situation even though the other stallion seemed not to let it bother him.

"Right, of course. That makes sense. I don't suppose that we'd come up with an answer, by any chance?" Still grinning, Kildegard gave Deja a good-natured look, the previous blankness of his expression and tone completely replaced by an impish sparkle in his black eyes. "I'm pretty sure that if we had, this conversation would be taking place while we were walking. Or I'd have walked off already, probably without paying attention."
Oh well, such was a hazard of a short attention span. "Regardless, I suppose I'll figure out something. And thanks for not taking off when I spaced out, that was markedly kind of you." After all, people tended to get either frustrated or simply creeped out by talking to an automaton...

Deja sighed softly and shook his head, he couldnt help but feel pitty for the stallion but he seemed to cope alright with his condition with a light heartedness Deja doubted he would ever understand.
"well if we follow the river upstream it should lead us to the body of water you discriped its not much to go on but it is a shot. That's most likely out best approch to get you back home."
At the thanks Deja didnt quite now how to react, and as more often then not he looked at Kildegard awkwrdly and chuckled nervously. "ah... it was... It was nothing. "

Well, that sounded like a plan of action, then! Grinning, Kildegard brushed off the dismissal of Deja, taking his own turn to downplay something. "It was too something, but we'll leave it at that, I think. But anyway, you said we?"
That little word had attracted Kildegard's interest, and the look he gave Deja as he spoke was blatantly questioning. Well, questioning and surprised. Deja had said we...did that mean he wanted to come along?
Usually, Kildegard got pointed in the right direction, then sent off on his own, for better or worse. Beyond his herdmates, no one had EVER volunteered to actually go with him somewhere, and it was a bit of a turn. Not a bad turn, but still a turn. "You mean, you actually want to go with me?"

Deja blinked a little bit, even though he lacked social graces and generally liked being alone he could really see leaving this one alone to his own devices. It was true that they had just met and it was also true that Deja was trying oh so very hard to be nice and friendly...and to try and make a friend. That however didnt influance his choice.
"Well...Yeah. I mean if you dont want me to thats fine, I just... well we cant really be sure thats your home right? So..dont want you getting lost on my account."
