Ceribri boogievalentine So what I'm getting from this is Torchwood is really dirty and that I need to be cautious when I watch it so my dad doesn't kill me. Hmm, interesting. In a word, yesp...although, if your parents don't mind sex scenes in every other episode...go ahead! I don't think he would, but if its like really late in the night it wouldn't matter cause he would be in bed....

And if the new BBCA schedule is gonna be like what the UK does, it'll air after 9PM anyways. At 11PM, maybe. That'll be perfect for moi. blaugh

SamuraiButterfly It's not really half as bad as they're making it out to be. Well no, but I've seen a ton of it, and sure, it's ok, but the stuff that sticks in your mind afterwards really isn't.....

Oh, Torchwood is going to be chopped to pieces before it airs here in the US. There are far too many people in this country who panic if you even mention a bisexual character in the abstract, let alone making him the leading man? EGADS!! What will become of american soiciety? rolleyes
Heh. Sorry. I love Torchwood, and British Television in general because they don't obsess over every little sexual innuendo. My gawd, watch Are you Being Served sometime! LOL and THAT made it past our censors simply because they didn't understand the british innuendo. rofl Thank god.
Sorry, as an American, I just can NOT see the American public in general handling Torchwood well, our airwaves are far to sanitized. Torchwood is going to give someone a heartattack. lol Long as they don't suddenly decide to make an american version...we all know what happens when hollywood gets a hold of british tv and "Makes it better" : Doctor Who, Red Dwarf, Coupling. Ack. gonk

Torchwood, ack! talk2hand
The only episodes I could finish were Random Shoes and that one with the plane flying through the rift... mainly because there was no rampant sex and gore and women in metal bikinis.
The idea is good, but the reality of it and the fact that it keeps associating itself with Doctor Who makes me slightly queasy. Kids show, hello? The spin-off should NOT have rampant sex and be advertised throughout the parent show.
Okay, that was my little rant.
Torchwood in America.
Not sure how that will go over. I'm north of the border so the climate isn't the same. Similar. I'm sure my Mom would through a fit if she caught a glimpse of TW. Heck, she through a fit at the PotW kiss which was pretty well done I thought. Someone else said it, one of the great things about British TV is how open it is about sex and stuff, but TW steps over a few lines because it's trying to do sex while associating itself with a respected children's show, and I don't think that's going to be going over well with anyone's parents.
Will they censor it? Not sure about America (hope they do, for the sake of those kids who want to see Capt. Jack), in Canada? Well... I seem to recall seeing all of Jack's butt in Bad Wolf (I've got it on tape too) so that wasn't cut... erm...
Those are my opinions, or brain farts, or whatever.
Wish Torchwood would realise that being an adult show isn't a smut and gross out contest.

Yeah, my dad has seen every other epi of the classic DW, and I dunno how he took that since I didn't see it until later, but if he got sight of TW...he'd say forget it! It's bad enough having a gum commercial have two women kiss on the lips, over here. >.< And I don't like even that. Seriously? They definitely edited Bad Wolf here. And it was kinda freaky either way. Daaang.... >.<

I personally dont see a problem as torchwood was being described everywhere as a more "adult" Dr. Who and the word "risqué" was being used frequently and it was a post watershed program in the UK (after 9pm all things best have parental guidance (and TV's getting worse XD) and why is a same sex kiss so much worse than a straight one anyway? I watched the "most conterversial" episode of torchwood where capatain jack snogs the real captain jack (dont ask if you dont know) (funny how also it caused more conterversy than the lesbian kisses stare ) in the cardiac ward of a hospital (for finding out why my hearts so weird) and yeah if I handnt have had my own room with TV/DVD combi (NHS is so great biggrin ) then i wouldnt have watched it (cos of being on a kids ward (being 16 though)), my TV was supposed to be off after 9 anyway but it was on quietly cos i was on the kids ward and didnt want them hearing and I thought that kiss was soooooo cute! and I was thinking how brave of the BBC to show it. Most ppl I know have watched torchwood but yeah Its not for kids... But surely teens and adults should be allowed to watch the full uncut version if they want to. lets face it nobody is FORCING anybody to watch it. talk2hand If you dont like. Dont see. Its not neccesary to the Dr. Who storyline really. neutral

Well it's not really a 'more adult Doctor Who'... it's more like a gory, explicit, hormonal show about a team of alien trackers that just so happens to have references to Doctor Who in it.... stressed
