She looked at him with interest, her ears creeping up towards him. There was somethign about this lion that she trusted, though she wasn't sure why. Maybe it was just their similarities with their pasts.
"Swamp? What is a swamp?" She asked curiously. She had never heard the word before and she found it impossible to picture. "Why did you get exiled from it? Did you do something...bad?"
She seemed not to care whether Tope was a relative or not. In fact she was actually quite glad. As far as she was concerned she wanted nothing to do with her father. The father who had left her mother to die.
Her heart gave a great shudder but she forced the feeling away.

Tope took a moment to think-think deeply on what was happening right here and now. This strange girl-not like his sisters-annoying and stupid, but cute and kind... he liked her company. He liked her eyes. He liked-her. He blinked slowly, not sure what to say to her question. It wasn't something he did-persay... but... it was his fault nonetheless. He sighed, looking down at his feet for a moment before looking back up to her and spoke. A swamp.. .its like lots of water that is really shallow... a muddy forest of tree's and dirt. We got exiled... because my father stayed by my mother at a time that he was not supposed too...He said, not bitterly-but still with enough emotion to show it bothered him. When cubs are born-the father is not allowed to see them for a while I guess... they had another cub before us four... but he saw me get born... I was first... and that caused me and my brother to be cursed... and for all of us to be exiled...
It was that or be killed He shuddered briefly at the thought. He looked back to her with a half smile. But I don't care-The swamps are stupid anyway... I don't even like that I am named after them... Tope means-dirt... so my mother would never forget her home I suppose. So... I an like dirt.

Where most lions might have turned their noses up at the idea of a swamp, Pomoka was actually drawn to it. She liked the idea of there being lots of swampy water around, to roll in when it was warm. It was sad that Tope had been exiled otherwise she would have gotten him to show her it.
"I think it sounds lovely. Atleast it is something different. All I ever see is hard, cracked ground and dry grass." She turned hre great, round ears towards Tope as he explained why he was exiled and nodded slowly in understanding. "Seems fathers are all just useless aren't they. I'm never going to fall in love if a mate is going to be so terrible." She was far too young to understand what love was and why a female took a mate in the first place, but of course, this childish view would probably change in time.
"Tope means dirt?" She smiled. "I always thought my forepaws looked like I had stepped in mud. Maybe I should step on you!" She giggled and rolled over, patting at his side with her forepaws.
"My name means 'spirit be broken.' My mother spoke it as a challenge cos she knew I'd be strong." She had to live up to her reputation!

Tope didn't understand why he had opened up to Jini in such a way-he barely talked about his Exilement with his brother-and he was afterall-exiled too. He shook his head for a moment, not feeling any bit of remorse for telling her-he actually felt happier. He smiled too her, quietly making a pact with himself to show her the swamplands-just to make the spirits angry. Stupid Spirits-didn't do anything for him. Hmm. He nodded up and down at her comment about lovely. Even though it was all dirt and mud and bugs-he loved it there-even though he barely remembered it there-it had been a long time now. I like your feet He said simply with a smile.
Tell you what Jini-I'll take you there someday... when I can get away from my parents enough. Its a ways away... and it would take a bit of travel-but I would love to show you my old home.... I am not to fond of this dry stuff. He said, looking down at the ground.
Her words shocked him for a moment. Well-I think Girls are awsome... except for my sisters-they are annoying. I will never be useless like my Dad-I won't be like him... I'm diffrent. He said-more to himself than her-but none the less aloud.

"Oh, thank you Tope! I can't wait to see it. I bet it will be beautiful!" And already she was dreaming of its muddy waters and of all the huge insects that buzzed around everywhere. It would be something to look forward to at least.
"Perhaps I can show you my home someday?" She queried. "The Kusini'mwezi. It is pretty normal looking but it is quite beautiful. Trees and plenty of water. Plus Hababuu is there. She's like another sister...maybe an aunt." She beamed happily. "Either way I'd love you to see it. That way you know where to find me if ever I need to go home."
She smiled and flicked her tail. "Well then Tope, you better strive to be the best male there is! Then you'll be famous for being amazing." She giggled. "But really...I'm sure you'll be a good male. You seem perfectly okay to me!" But she couldn't help but wonder...did makles change when they reached aduthood?

Tope sat for a moment, imagining what it would be like to go back-just for a moment. He blinked slowly, seeing his old pride-condemningh him and his family... how could they do that too everyone-they could have just condemned Umo. He felt his lip curl for a moment but shook it away; looking up to her with a smile of joy. For some reason, seeing her happy made him happy. It was confusing-yes. Oh-really? You'd really like to see my old home? He asked, looking too her with an admiration for a moment. Something about the word he used-he blinked slowly for a moment. Somehting about the word Kusini Mwenzi..... hmm. He did not know that the Kusini Mwenzi was the lands his father left-in order to live fully at the swamps-only to be banished.
I'd love to see your home someday too Jini-... if you ever need to return home-you mean you aren't of the pridelands? He asked, his eye brow cocked confused like.
Her tail flicked and for a moment he seemed mesmerized by something-in her direction-not a butterfly but her. Just for the fact that she said it-he would strive to be the best ever. He'd be better than his dad-way better. I will-I can tell. I am not going to endanger my family or my cubs-ever... I'd rather die than let something happen like that... and I'd never run unless I had too-I'd stay and fight... He said defiantly, before looking too her stark still-like he was in shock. He blinked slowly. What had she said? I certainly hope I am okay-I am after all... I dunno....He sat down and sighed."-You know... cursed and all

She nodded briskly and laughed. "Well you see, it's all rather complicated...but my family is huge, enormous. Or so mother told me. My grandmother, a lioness called Bakhti who died shortly before I was born, was once a rogue, wandering the lands. She fell in love with anothe rogue and together they searched for a place where they could be safe and raise a family. They found the Pridelands." She wished she could have met her grandmother, but Kiburi had said that grandfather was still alive...what had his name been? She couldn't remember.
"There they raised their first family and my mother and her brother were born. So my mother was a Pridelander, but only until she hit her juvenile stage. Then she left to explore the world. She was a dreamer, my mother." As she spoke tears glittered in her eyes but there was no sadness in her voice, only pride.
"She got captured by the red beasts soon after that and spent the rest of her life in slavery." Now she was angry and her claws dug deep into the ground. "They battered her and made her weak, drove her to the brink of death. The only thing that kept her alive was her love for father, but he did nothing to help. Somehow, she escaped, already pregnant with me and my siblings. There she went to the Kusini Lands to live alongside her childhood friend, because she was too ashamed to go home."
It was a long, complicated and sad story.
"Then...when we were born, the last of her strength was gone. She died."

Tope nestled himself down to listen too her story. His brown ears twitched intently as he did so, his front paws tucked neatly under him. Her family was very complicated-he was glad he didnt' have grandparents. He was glad it was just his mother and father-even though he would like to have met his older sisters Kinamasi before she went off to-find her name-or what ever the swamplands did. He smiled upon the first section of the story. A place to raise cubs in safety. He wished his father had done that-though he had risked his life and his love to be with his mother in her time of pain. He scurried himself closer too her, so that their shoulders touched as she spoke-his tan nose wiggling.
He spotted the watering eyes and looked worried for a moment, bringing himself closer too her side to nuzzle her. Don't be sad... He thought, looking up at her silent and listening.
Captured? He sat up looking at her for a moment. What? He blinked slowly. Red beasts? I've never heard of a Red Beast... He said, looking at her softly. Your mother was a slave? She must have been very-very brave to have survived that long." He said assuringly, almost like he had grown a strange connection with her deceased mother. He felt sorry for her and reached out, placing a paw on hers. She died with happiness then-you were born safe... Tell you what Jini-I'd happily give you my Mom... She is the best in the world-if not a bit quiet... she only whispers. He said, with a smile, holding her close.

"Red beasts are the evil lions that live far away in the middle of nowhere...Firekin they are called. My mother told me about it before she...before she...well, you know." She cleared her throat. "They'll suffer for what they did to mum, they'll suffer." She growled. "I'll get my revenge someday."
Then suddenly she was snapped from her angry reverie and she turned to gaze affectionately at Tope. "Oh, I would love to meet your mother." Her heart warmed. "She sounds lovely, and remember, it's no fault of hers about what happened to you."
She reached forwards and pressed her nose against his cheek and drew away only to speak. "Was she sad to see you go?"

Tope thought long and hard-he could recall his father saying something too his mother about those who took slaves-and he had said they were mostly red. He blinked. Now he remembered-those beasts were real and they had hurt Jini's mother. He wanted to seek revenge on them too-and they hadn't done anything to him... but they had hurt Jini. That was wrong. He looked down at his paws-his pink eyes deep in thought. I'll help you get that revenge too... no one has the right to do what they did too your Mom He said, looking up too her as he spoke, flexing his toes around hers... he was there for her.
Her change in moods was enlightening. He didn't want to see her distressed. He hoped her pain was lessening. He smiled. He adored his mother. She's really soft and kind-thats why my father fell in love with her. She has pink eyes, like mine. She had a daughter, named Kinamasi... she misses her terribly... I imagine when I-" He paused, looking at her. He smiled nervously. "-well, I really haven't left yet... I-I'm going too... soon I think... but I havn't left yet... she will be sad... I know she will. He said, looking down. His mother sad.... that made him sad.

"Really?" She whispered, glancing down at their linked paws. Somehow she knew she'd found herself a friend. A very good friend. Her heart thumped and she smiled, moving to lean her head into the curve of his neck.
Sighing deeply she closed her eyes and imagined for a moment that Tope was her mother. She could almost imagine Kiburi's scent on the wind and the warmth of her siblings around her.
"Thank you Tope. Really. If I hadn't met you today I think I would have been in a foul mood for the rest of my life."
She listened to his mother's description and smiled softly, imagining the lioness in her mind's eye. "It will be hard for your mother. She sounds perfect. In a way, you're worse off than me...being forced to be apart from her even though she is alive and well. It's almost taunting." She sniffed.
"I'm sorry Tope."

Tope looked down at their paws too, curious to what she was seeing that he wasn't. He liked Jini... alot in fact. She was fun and had this-fury about her-it intrigued him. He smiled to himself as she nestled into the crook of his neck. He felt an odd feeling in his stomach, like he had drank alot of water really fast. He blinked slowly, biting his cheek. He felt so nice, sitting warm and and cozy next too this female. He liked this feeling. He shut his eyes, leaning into her. He hummed for a moment. Thank you too Jini. I am very happy that I met you too... I would have been so-I dunno. Angry. He said, looking too her and smiling.
He looked away, almost sad that he would leave his mother someday-at his own will. He didn't care about his fathers feelings about him leaving. He blinked slowly. I know... she is perfect-she's the perfect mom. (:"3) Its diffrent though Jini, your mom was taken away from you so brutally... My mom is here... If I were a grown up-I'd offer to be your mom. He said with a laugh. He laughed for a moment or too and then quieted down. Is that weird.

"No Tope, not weird at all." She smiled and nestled deeper. She was too innocent to realise what her behaviour might be signalling, that perhaps when the future brought age that she would be drawn to this male like none other.
She smiled to herself.
"We all heal eventually. Someday we'll look back at this and be able to think on the past with joy in our hearts instead of this heavy, empty feeling."
She continued as a whisper; "Time is the best of all healers..." Then she got to her paws and her pink eyes glistened with sadness.
"It'll be dark soon...I need to be home before anyone notices...how about we meet here again in a few days?" She desperately wanted to keep in contact with him. For he was so much like her that it brought a great comfort to her soul to be with him.

Tope smiled warmly and wrapped a paw around her. Something about her made him not feel like a fool and he found that she was fascinating. He was very happy just being with her for this short moment. He blinked and looked too her when she whispered and hefted himself up and knudged her cheek with is tan nose.
He sprung up and looked around. Oh no, it was late. His father was not going to be happy about this. He licked his lips nervously. I should be going too... I will be here in um... two days. Hows that? he said, that was the best time... he hoped. He looked down and then looking up, his pink eyes blaring.
I promise
Perfect, I will finish up the Rp where he fights and they can meet, with him being upset. ^^ Sound good?

The smile returned and she gave a sharp nod of her head."Okay Tope! I'll look forward to it. Very, very much!" Then with that she turned on her heels and dashed for home. "Goodbye!" She called out over her shoulder.
Her mind turned to her family waiting back for her and to Hababuu who was probably getting worried.
She limped onwards at a ragged gait, ignoring the pain and focusing only on getting home.
((yes okay that sounds awesome <3 ))
