I was hoping with the new items we could have a guild play!

The other night I read a children's book to my friend about this boy who had to play matzoh in his Hebrew school play, and was bummed he didn't get to be one of the plagues. When his mother explained to him how important unleavened bread was to the Jewish people during the Exodus, he became more enthusiastic and came to the conclusion that matzoh was the real hero of Passover. It made me giggle...

Have a happy passover, everyone (hehe, holiday greetings from the Jewish Gaian no one in this guild (except maybe Roothands) knows about!).

I wish I could celebrate this year, but I don't have enough money to follow the proper diet. sad Even the local congregation charges more than half my weekly food budget just to attend a single meal. =

Oh well. Happy Passover, still! Good luck with the matzo hunts wink (c'mon, everyone loves the matzo hunt...).

Even though I'm the youngest at almost 16, we still had one anyway and I won. xd

Happy Passover to all! I couldn't go home for the Seder this year and my grandmother, a guilt ninja, phoned and told me about how my uncle and aunt had come and everything, and it is such a shame that I couldn't be with my family for the holidays... I had a lab exam the next day! I had to study.

BUT I did have the best Seder I could manage on my own (yes, it was pathetic). I have a Hagaddah, and so had a very abreviated service. And my housemate, in a completely unexpected gesture of support, sat with me, asked questions, tried the matzah and everything. So it was really okay.

I did that kind of thing during college too, B.longimanus. It's expensive and not at all easy to keep kosher in a dorm, but it's doable. I bought a toaster oven and rented a mini-fridge for that week for my dorm room, then got a little Passover food that was easy to cook. Then I had over my one other Jewish friend in the dorms, and each of us invited about three people (we did ask them to help us offset the cost of food, which they were happy to do) that we liked, that we felt would probably enjoy a seder as a cultural learning opportunity. We had a very nice meal, and the non-Jewish ones did a great job at asking questions, which is the point of the entire seder in the first place -- to ask questions and discuss possible answers.

It doesn't matter if the food isn't huge and luxurious. What matters is that you get to go through the haggadah, that you have friends, that you get to learn something together, and that you renew your respect for your ancestors' bravery in leaving the slavery that they knew for the frightening world of the freedom they had never experienced. Freedom is scary, because along with freedom comes the responsibility of making choices, knowing that you're the one who makes your life what it is. Our ancestors realized this, and still leaped up and went out to the desert, claiming and owning the responsibilities of self-sovereignty. And you get to renew your connection to those brave souls every year.

I didn't get invited to a seder this year, and my husband is semi-non-observant, so I missed out. I did do the four cups of wine though. By myself. sweatdrop

Chag Sameach! It was really interesting being in Puerto Rico During the first two night's of PAssover. We couldn't find a Chabad so we had to hold a make-shift Seder of our own. (All we had was Matzah and our Haggadahs. T.T)

Enjoy MAtzah mixed with Manishwitz! lol blaugh
I saw this hilarious video called "Manishwitzville" (you know, Margaritaville, hahahaha...), look it up because it's worth it

Why doesn't Gaia ever have Jewish events? Seriously, I didn't see ANY acknowledgement of Passover on Monday and Tuesday, and they did Christmas stuff but no Hanukkah event. WHY?! *tear*

I think the Egyptian items being released that day weren't a coincidence, so it was like Gaia's secret way of acknowledging Jews on Gaia.

I don't mean to be rude, but I do doubt that. They already released Egyptian items earlier for houses; I just think they didn't realize it. sweatdrop
