He had been thinking on what she said about love, wanting to question her on that... But the shout of 'GO' had caught him offguard and, by the time he looked up, she was already ahead of him. "Cheaters never prosper!" He called after her with laughter as he swung around to take chase, throwing his all into it in hopes of at least catching up with her.

They were pretty evenly matched, speed wise, but she did have a head start and was laughing gleefully as she ran, hooves sending sprays of earth behind her as she did.
"THIS ONE IS!" She couldn't help but respond to his shout though she concentrated on the task ahead of her and did not look back.

"You might beat me but you won't really win!" He called forward once more, giving everything he could into a burst of speed that would bring him a little bit closer to her. She really had gotten faster... Cheater.

"Yes I will!" She laughed and slowed down until they were level and then took off again. Nobody could say she was a cheater NOW, right? Fortune grinned wide and tried to put forth an extra burst of speed - but she was already tired. A bit faster, yes, but still the same endurance.
"Can't catch me!" Bluffing.

His laughter came out as a huff along with his breath as he sped alongside her. "Never said... Where we were racing to." They hadn't decided on a finish point. They'd just taken off. Not that there was anything wrong with that. Sometimes it was just good to run.

....True. Cursing her logic she slowed down to a gait and breathed deeply, "Damn, you're right. We didn't!...I still win anyway." She grinned cheekily at the black stallion before stopping her run completely and flopping tiredly onto the ground.
Fortune definitely had to work on her endurance a little bit more.

"I told you... Cheaters never prosper." He laughed as, catching his breath, he stared down at her. "Of course, running that fast is probably rather useful when it comes to chasing down foals, isn't it? The foals from my old herd were a wild bunch... Always running about playing games."

"My Kileyo is absolutely...a handful. He called Safi's friend Selene old. I guess I don't have to worry 'bout mares and all that junk. He's too blunt for that. No tact at all - and he certainly didn't get that from ME."
...Well, actually, he probably did. Fortune always said what was on her mind and sometimes she really didn't have tact either. But little white lies couldn't hurt.

"Well, Fortune, if he grows to share your views on love perhaps you won't have to worry about mares afterall? Granted, as much trouble as something like love can be... It is also a blessing every now and then." He nickered softly, still unable to keep the smile from his lips even if he found himself thinking about lost love. As painful as it was to think of it he wouldn't trade it away for anything.

Fortune looked up at her friend, "I don't think he will - Safi's more influence on him than I am. I don't necessarily think that love is troublesome. I don't like thinking of it for other reasons."
The mare was simply too free spirited to think of being tied down as a good thing, anyway.

"To tell you the truth? I don't like thinking about it either..." It still hurt when he thought about love. It was often easier to think about finding the ones that he had come here searching for... But then he came across moments such as these where it became too easy to forget what had happened and why he was still here. "Perhaps one day you will introduce me to this son of yours?"

"I bet he'd like you - so if you'd like to meet him, I'd be happy to introduce you." She paused. "How come you don't like thinking about it? I mean, if it's not somethin' you wanna talk about that's fine...."
Fortune really didn't have a purpose in life, and that suited her just fine. She could basically do whatever she fancied so long as she could con Safi into taking Killy.

"If he's anything like you, it would be a joy to meet him." He chuckled, turning his head towards the mare. She would be the one to ask why he didn't care to think about something, wouldn't she? "Because it reminds me that the one I love is very far away from here and it will be a long time until I will be able to see her again."

Fortune was just like that, really, and she wouldn't be her if she didn't ask the most awkward questions. "Well, I'm glad I'm a joy."
Then at his answer she frowned lightly, "Like...Across the water or something? Maybe you could get a two legger to help you..."

"Something like that." He managed to put on a smile despite his thoughts and feelings. "Only this body of water is so great that not even the ones who walk on two legs and their boats would be able to cross it. I'll get there in time... But, for now, there are other things I have to take care of here. Afterall, someone has to make sure you stay out of trouble besides this Safi fellow, right?"
